Large Tower Playhouse with Double Swing – Honest Review

Overall, we are very pleased with the quality of this playhouse. Once assembled, it is extremely sturdy, well-built and has already proven to be a fantastic addition to the garden. It easily handled a group of children during my niece’s birthday party, with several kids playing on it at once, and it felt solid and secure throughout.

That said, prospective buyers should be aware that assembly is a much bigger job than you might expect. There are no pre-drilled holes or markings to indicate where to drill, making the build far more time-consuming than anticipated. There are also a huge number of screws involved. It took us almost six days, working 2–3 hours each day, to complete the assembly. If you’re not experienced with DIY projects of this scale, I would strongly recommend paying for professional assembly.

We initially struggled to find the instructions, only to realise they were provided as a PDF link in the order confirmation email rather than included in the packaging. This could be made much clearer.

Another surprise was that the turquoise sections shown in the product photos are not pre-made panels. Instead, they are flat sheets that need to be measured, cut, and screwed onto the structure yourself. We had expected these to arrive as ready-made panels.

The product also does not include ground anchors, which I believe are essential for a play structure of this size, so these will need to be purchased separately.

There were a couple of quality issues on arrival. Some of the timber had cracks, and the baby swing was damaged. To their credit, customer service responded promptly, offering to replace the swing and provide £50 compensation for the damaged wood. At the time of writing, we are still waiting for this to be processed.

We also reinforced the serving counter by adding two extra pieces of timber, as we felt it needed additional support.

Despite the challenges during assembly and the few quality issues, the finished playhouse is excellent. It is strong, durable, and the children absolutely love it. If you’re prepared for a substantial build or are happy to pay for installation I would definitely recommend it.

Our builders complained about how bad the instructions are. Completely ridiculous. We also had cracks on the wood. Emailed the team a month ago and still no response from them. Outrageous

Ordered the value overlap pent shed. Arrangements of delivery was extremely easy and straightforward. Item was delivered bang on time to when it was supposed to be.

The shed itself isn't made out of the best quality of materials. With working with timber as a full time job it was managed to be fixed but for a novice I would definitely recommend getting this put up by a professional. If you are looking for a more secure and long term shed I would definitely recommend spending the bit more and purchasing a shiplap shed.
Otherwise it came with plenty of fixings with plenty to spare.

The delivery was on time and unloaded quickly. Driver was polite & professional, explaining everything we needed to know & where to contact if we needed any further instructions.

Neil was extremely helpful and polite.

Nothing was too much trouble, and offloading was made easy.

Impressed with Neil's product knowledge, and he was very complementary over the garden build to date (shed / greenhouse combo).

Unfortunately, my experience with Waltons was very disappointing.

After returning my order on 15th July due to 8 damaged pieces out of 10, I was advised that my refund would be processed and received by 22 July. When this date passed with no refund, I had to contact Waltons again to find out what had happened.

Only after I chased the matter was I informed that a technical issue with the driver's PDA had prevented the refund from being processed. While I appreciate that technical problems can occur, what disappointed me most was that the issue was only discovered because I contacted them again. Had I not done so, I have no confidence that the error would have been identified.

The refund has now been received, and I appreciate the apology I was given. However, I spent several weeks chasing money that should have been returned automatically, causing unnecessary inconvenience and frustration.

I asked Waltons to consider a goodwill gesture in recognition of the poor customer experience, but this was declined as they felt the refund alone was sufficient resolution.

Mistakes happen, but good customer service is measured by how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, on this occasion, Waltons fell well short of my expectations.

Ordered a large, 2 section shed which was delivered sooner than expected, went up beautifully and looks amazing in the garden: I left the last door in a very stupid place for too long and it warped. Being more than a year later I asked if I could order a new one and they kindly offered to send one for no charge. 10/10 service, would recommend

I will not be recommending this company to anyone, had a cabin delivered, started to assemble this only to find some timbers were badly twisted and unable to be used. Phoned customer service who made me feel that it was my fault , had to send lots of photos and give me the impression I was out to rip them off. Took 10 working days to send replacement items,all the time unfinished cabin was open to the elements. I paid up front for this cabin, also customer service couldn't provide me the company policy on thier quality control before items leave the yard. Also had to pay for a carpenter twice because of the delays, had no offer off this company to cover some of the costs, was told I should have checked every piece of timber before starting, basically it was my fault.

The main beams of the swing and slide set have large cracks and eventhough (at the moment) it might not affect the strength but it does look like second or third class timber.
Not impressed, and the bog standard reply from the service department shows nobody is really interested.
Much better value for money out there. Would not recommend and will not purchase again.

Great climbing frame for my four year old son! Build took a whole day but that was to be expected. Good quality product and looks amazing now it’s up. He absolutely loves it!
One thing that I think would be helpful would be labelling of the wood pieces and screws. It took some time to prep everything, measuring the wood and screws to ensure you were using the correct parts. Would just make this bit easier.
My only other suggested improvement is with the delivery. It was delivered by one person. This was a lot of wood pre packaged in to some very heavy bundles. Luckily I am in a position to help lift and carry them, which I did. If it would have been delivered to someone unable to help the delivery person, I am unsure it would have been completed….at the very least safely. It did arrive on time, the live tracking was great as well as a phone call when nearly here.

The shed we ordered was delivered on the date stated.
The reason I have given a 4 star and not a 5, is that when we were putting the shed together, we noticed that some of the slats hadn’t been nailed in.
Also the flooring was very flimsy.

Ordered and received a summer house this weekend. It is beautiful and we are very happy with it. Delivery was exceptional- 6.30am on a Saturday morning and the driver was amazing. Construction was straight forward and the quality is great.
