Bureaucratic indifference.

I booked a weekend for my son and daughter-in-law at the Bromborough Village hotel about a month and half ago. After a mobile phone problem, I lost the email confirmation they sent me. I phoned the hotel, but the agent refused to confirm the booking (that was all I wanted) owing to "Data protection". It was booked in my name, and I was the payee. This seems unreasonable. They could have simply re-sent the original email confirmation I received, but no. At the time of online booking, I selected a double room for two nights with breakfast; however, shortly before their stay, they unilaterally "uprated" the stay to include gym/pool (£10), which was added to the debit payment transaction.

Terrible Customer Service

I visited Village Hotels in The Wirral back in Sept this year... My stay was a nightmare , I only stayed for 4 nights but had to raise my dissatisfaction with staff on no less than 6 times...Issues with noise from people using the Emergency exit doors from early in the morning to late at night.. The door was also left wide open at times and although there was CCTV nothing seemed to be done by security .... I complained and was offered a 50% refund on my stay.....which I accepted........I checked my bank statement last month to find no refund had been made to me ... I contacted the Hotel manager ... he said he would look into it , I then chased him a week later and he advised me to chase up the refund with the company that I booked my stay with..... Not the best Customer Service ........I now have the refund albeit much later than it should have been paid to me ...

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace. Tried to cancel gym membership at Hyde due to losing my job and trying to reduce my outgoings but they insist on 3 months payment. Pity I didn't try to charge them for when the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were out of action numerous times. Plus the showers not working so frequently. Disgraceful organisation with no empathy. All they are interested in is money.

Village Hotel Swansea just avoid

This refers to Village Hotel Swansea. Terrible in every way, do not touch it. Booked two nights, but when arrived, lift was broken. My wife has knee problem but hotel only has rooms on second floor or above. Only one lift in hotel and had been broken for three days. Hotel of course did not inform us in advance or by way other guests who were in mobility scooter. Cancelled booking, given three days guest passes to pool as compensation. Tried to use pool second day, incredibly rude woman called Melissa on pool reception demanded to fill vey long form before using pool (was not asked to fill this form on first day using pool), then demanded where we had got gotten guest pass to use pool (from hotel mgmt.) and finally let my wife in pool, refused to let me in. Also was a major fight in front pf hotel second night we were there, saw someone punched in face. Hotel reception and bar staff completely indifferent (i called police). This is just an awful place with horrible and indifferent staff. I will never go near place again but please avoid for your own sanity.

Perfect

We stayed at the Bracknell hotel. Everything about our stay was perfect. Price could have been a lot higher and still be great value for the money. Staff/team members were all fantastic. Room, pool, gym, pub/grill, in-house coffee shop and even the halls were ALL clean and well presented. Easy to stream apps from phone to TV for free viewing, no need to pay anymore than already paid for any streaming services used at home. From the moment we arrived till the second we left, we were made to feel very welcome and at ease. Kids evening buffet was perfect for my daughter and the breakfast buffet was by far, the best I've ever had.
I could continue in more detail for days on how great we found the experience. But I'll have to stop somewhere, so let's just say it was PERFECT 👌

My review is for the Farnborough…

My review is for the Farnborough village hotel. Today I held a wellness event there and the support and organisation was seamless! Rebecca was the event planner and communicated well. The room was set up with every requested detail. Dan was our point of contact for the day and he was awesome! He was on hand to help and nothing was too much trouble. I’ve worked at many hotels for my events and this is the only hotel that got it right! This hotel is my fave venue and the staff worked so well together to make it smooth. As a solo event organiser this is so important. Thank you 🤩

Stayed recently at the Village Hotel in Swindon

Stayed recently at the Village Hotel in Swindon. Although the front desk service is excellent, the food very good (service in the restaurant poor), and the overall cleanliness excellent, I am outraged that they are okay charging the same rate for a family room with a double and two single beds, as a family room with a double bed and a sofa bed! The sofa bed is very clearly not a bed at all, and is a large single at best. The manager responded to my feedback about this only to say 'it is meant for children and not adults', which I don't think is acceptable, considering they advertise comfortable beds with Sealy mattresses.

Don't buy a drink

The room was ok, the staff were fine, the pool was fine... my problem is the price in the bar and restaurant. The food is overpriced for what you actually get but the drinks are insane, bought my partner a large glass of white wine and it alone was 14.85. The bottle was 44 pounds? How they can charge 44 pounds for a bottle of normal wine is disgusting for what was basically a sports bar. I've eaten in nice restaurants and only paid 28 pounds so 16 extra is mental

VILLAGE HOTEL HYDE - Legalised exploitation of staff.

I worked across all three of this company’s bars — Inspiration, Pub & Grill, and Verve — and what I observed should raise serious concerns for both customers and potential employees.
Management operates primarily on zero-hour contracts, which creates a culture of favoritism where certain staff members are assigned shifts while others are left with fewer opportunities. Staff morale is negatively affected by this practice, and attempts to question it are often dismissed.
The workplace environment is unprofessional and challenging. Some staff members, including senior employees, have personal relationships that appear to influence scheduling decisions, which can create an uncomfortable atmosphere for others.
Cleanliness and safety are frequently below standard. The venues are often poorly maintained and do not consistently meet health and safety guidelines. Customer concerns are not always addressed promptly, and there is a general tendency to delay resolution.
Employees are routinely scheduled to work until 3 a.m. on minimum wage with no arrangements for safe travel home. Additionally, staff are sometimes expected to return for shifts as early as 8 a.m. the same morning — leaving very little time to rest and prepare for work. This approach shows a lack of regard for employee wellbeing and is unsustainable.
In summary, this is not just a poorly run business — it is a workplace that currently struggles with management, scheduling, and staff welfare. Until improvements are made, I would not recommend this company for employment or patronage.

Booked 2 rooms for 2 adult's and 2…

Booked 2 rooms for 2 adult's and 2 children but asked for 2 connected rooms instead of all cramming into a family room, told me thier was plenty and that's not a problem. 3 days before visit phoned asking if wanted add meals and also come to my attention that hadn't Booked joining rooms, they assured me it would be sorted for 2nd time. Arrived and said don't have any sorry. Manger came and said sorry we don't have any. Which sorry doesn't really change much and not even slightest attemp to correct. I thought would atleast refund to Book elsewhere. £250 would get a 5 star apartment or family room anywhere after all. Instead was sorry nothing can do. Happy to help when taking money but arsed when haven't done the most basic of things requested weeks in advance and even a 2nd time. They actually advertise and charge for their brillant services and facilities as rooms are extremely basic 3 star things which usually wouldn't justify the amount charge. Personally id book a 5 star hotel or apartment in future and take kids to a swimming pool if wasn't best in hotel. Works out cheaper and actually get what paid for instead of we are sorry and a basic room.

Awful quiz

Title: The “Guess What I Just Said” Quiz Night

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to attend a quiz night where every question sounds like it’s being whispered underwater while a blender runs in the background… this is the place for you.

We couldn’t hear a thing. Every round turned into a high-stakes game of lip-reading mixed with psychic powers. I’m pretty sure half our answers were just random animals and obscure vegetables because, honestly, they could have been asking anything.

The host had the energy of a man reading the phone book at 3am and didn’t seem to notice (or care) that the room was essentially playing “charades with sound effects.” By the end, we were just nodding along like we understood what was going on — I think we even won a round by accident.

If you like quizzes but hate actually knowing the questions, 10/10, would recommend.
