Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Excluding the cost, they were fantastic, have handled the claim excellently and put everything through for us

Had to wait nearly 2 hours for my cat to be seen after being sent there by the out of hours phone line. Every other animal that came in was seen before him and I nearly gave up as he clearly wasn't that urgent a case. The prices are the biggest bugbear. Luckily we are insured but £336 just for the consultation is daylight robbery, plus not only fees for the medication, also extra fees on top of each one for prescribing them! This is extortion and companies like this should be regulated. £467 bill for antibiotics to treat an abscess from a wound on his head - they were necessary, but the £53 for painkillers? That was purely to make more money. They also add on £35 to aprove the claim that will be made, which I believe will not itself be covered by the insurance. Vets Now are a money making racket and they suck.

Very impressed although we had to wait a while receptionist was very kind offered us a drink and kept us updated on wait times. Vet did a thorough check and took her time to explain what medication and how to administer and to follow up at my own vets very helpful and my dog was seen and settled within 2 hrs. Thank you all would not hesitate to recommend .

My dog suddenly became very sick. Vets Now saw us straight away. Luckily it was very quiet and no one in waiting room. Vet was brilliant.

Prompt service ,animal treated well. The fee I felt was excessive. No opportunity to speak to vet beforehand for advice to find if appointment really necessary.

It was really quick and easy to make an appointment, didn’t have to wait long when we got there and the vet was brilliant with our cat. I love that they have the option to pay with Klarna as it gives people more of a chance to get emergency care for their pet, especially if they are low income.

Terrible service. Took my dog in out of hours, he had a large lump appear on his side and had gone off his food.
Raging temperature. Vet said not to worry about the lump. 18 hours later still not getting better on an IV drip of antibiotics and fluids. Day time vet started at 7.30am on the Monday morning and had a diagnosis of an internal abscess, which the ooh vet said not to worry about. Shocking, then hit with a £1300 bill.

Vet was great, kind and caring. And this is not the vets fault but
it is just a shame the out of hours fee was £330. Some pets would have to suffer as a lot of people just couldn't afford that much. I was willing to pay that but some just couldn't.

Ludicrously expensive. We were unlucky enough to need a vet on Saturday afternoon. £338 just for the consultation, we were in and out in 20 minutes. The actual medication we needed was £90 so it feels totally out of whack. To top it off, they now want to charge an £35 admin fee to process my insurance claim. I cannot understand how any of these costs can be justified. It's daylight robbery and totally cynical given that they know people won't risk their pets' health.
Update: In the interest of fairness, it's worth noting I have managed to avoid this £35 fee by settling this claim directly with my insurer. It turns out Vets Now are happy to send the medical history directly to me (without a fee) and forwarding this and the invoice seems to be sufficient for my insurer. It would have been nice if this was presented as an alternative option when I first mentioned I was unhappy about paying this fee, rather than having to figure this out myself.
Everyone at Vets Now on both the phone and Live Chat were lovely and professional, so no complaints there - I assume they are just upholding company policy so it's obviously not their fault.

We had to take our dog here as an emergency on a Sunday, as she slipped running and injured her hip. She was in extreme pain. The vet saw her within an hour, which was reasonable as they were dealing with other animals. The vet treatment was good overall and we were satisfied, though the cost was very high. It is the admin side of things I was not very pleased with. We were asked to pay a £35 charge on top to cover admin and process the insurance claim quickly. However this actually took more than a week which I think is quite poor, and I tried ringing three times the main office and no one answered, even though I waited up to ten minutes.

Excellent help with our Dachshund couldn't fault the Vet and Receptionist very helpful and friendly.
One less star ... Why is there a huge surcharge increase on animal drugs surely this should be the same regardless of hours. We had metacam out of hours and got charged a further 19 pounds Why????
Never got told about being charged for animal blood bank donation. Would have liked to be informed or asked if I wanted to donate it was just charged on our bill.
Access to vets was difficult out of hours with gates and security and signage not easy to follow..

Amazing care for our frenchie Billy over the weekend. Can’t thank them enough. Updated regularly, answered anything we wanted to know. Massive thanks to Amy she went above and beyond!!

To be clear the staff are great my gripe isn't with them it's with the company.
Your prices are wholly unreasonable and you represent everything that is wrong with the veterinary industry by monopolising the market and taking advantage of desperate pet owners.
There is no justification for it, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Took cat in for an emergency, vets and supporting staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Quick to be seen too. Cat is now all fine after treatment. Prices are as expected for an out of hours vet.
