Interview over the phone
Let me begin with the fact that my interview with them for an International Sales Executive - Remote (With English and Hungarian) position just ended 10 minutes ago. And boy it was a joke! A female recruiter form HR (Vendana) calls me, telling me that the call is echoing, and calls me back afterwards. She presents the company in a "nutshell' as she said, which she could've done differently by asking me about their own company, checking my knowledge and interest about the company itself. Then she asks me about my previous careers and jobs, requesting me to tell her 3 attributes useful in sales and best representing me. The conversation is fluent, ongoing and none of us is stuttering of course (she has a very slow fluency in english, almost as if she is reading everything she has to say to you, pre-defined text reading scenario from her side), and after you answer all her questions and you feel real good about the whole conversation, she tells you that unfortunately they are looking for someone with a "higher level of english". Are you kidding me??? Aside of the fact that I am coming from the aviation industry, I am also a certified english-romanian (and viceversa) translator, with hungarian as my native language. Studied english with american and british teachers, with a pronunciation of a native american. And excuse my bragging, but I am just in shock! Why did you even bother at all calling candidates? Good luck Vendana in finding your "higher levels". And also please consider substituting your HR recruiting personnel, you might need that more than we do!
