Heavily coated, poor quality leather

I bought the Esplars in White Parme. The leather is very heavily coated with chemicals. The coating means that you cannot see the natural pores on the leather, and it also loses its breathable and mouldable properties. It feels plasticky as the coating process has made the leather stiff. At the toes where shoes naturally crease, the leather cracks and flakes due to the coating, revealing the grey below. Veja replied by stating that their sneaker uppers are made of 'genuine leather', but that is the same as saying a steak is '100% beef'. It tells us nothing about the quality of the leather itself. I know that Veja doesn't work with aniline or even semi-aniline leather. I wouldn't be surprised if it's made of split leather, which is cheap. I spoke to a cobbler that worked in a Veja store and they said that they don't really understand why Veja uses such heavily coated stiff leather for a pair of shoes where creasing is inevitable and soft supple leather is required. Veja should be much more transparent about their processes. This calls into question if their company is greenwashing.

Also, the sole is not durable and doesn't last long. It starts to wear very very thin until I can see the imprint of my finger if I push down on the sole from the inside. The pattern on the sole for grip also wears away quickly. Veja is not worth the price

First time customer, impressed with the website and company values. trainers displayed real style.
They’ve arrived and look fantastic. The feel of materials and quality of stitching very impressive. Felt fractionally tight when put them on @07:45, it’s 15:37 and they have moulded to my feet.

No response from Operator

I had bought the pair of sneakers from Brand Alley and returned them as I found that the quality was not as good as I had expected.

The item, Veja - Soletrader via Operator was returned by Royal Mail on 26/03/26 Session I’d- 4-25878

But to date I have yet to receive an acknowledgment of the receipt of my return.

Any items sent to us that were purchased via BrandAlley (including with a QR code from Soletrader) are not processed in our system, so we cannot confirm receipt or issue a refund.

Order Veja sneakers 11 day ago; still not here

I ordered sneakers from Veja 11 days ago (March 11] and paid for 2 day shipping. They are still not in and I’ve sent them 4 messages through their email contact form about this issue. They keep telling me that they are going to raise this as a priority and ship the sneakers and they refunded the $20 for the express shipping that I paid for, which I demanded they do. I still have not received the sneakers (it’s March 28] and there is no number to call them. I’m beyond frustrated. For a company that talks about sustainability, how about sustainability when it comes to customers.

Very bad

Dear Customer Service,

I am writing to express my disappointment with the quality of my Veja trainers.
I purchased this pair less than a year ago, and I was expecting a much higher standard of durability. However, when I went to wear them today, I found that they had already deteriorated significantly. This level of wear and tear after such a short period is extremely concerning and does not reflect good quality.
I am very dissatisfied, as I have not had the opportunity to use them extensively, yet they are already in poor condition. I had expected a product that would last much longer.
I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and advise on a possible resolution, whether that be a replacement, repair, or refund.

They barely lasted 3 months…

I purchased a pair of Campo trainers as a Christmas gift, and after only three months, with minimal wear due to London’s wet weather, the leather has already started peeling at both the toe and heel. This is completely unacceptable for footwear at this price point.

Customer service dismissed the issue as damage from “external elements,” despite the shoes being worn only occasionally. This response feels like a refusal to take responsibility rather than a genuine assessment of a clear quality problem.

For a brand that promotes durability and premium materials, this level of deterioration in such a short time is frankly poor. I own leather trainers that have lasted close to a decade under far heavier use, so there is no justification for this.

If this is the standard of quality and aftercare, I would strongly advise others to think twice before purchasing. A costly mistake and a very disappointing experience. ⚠️

Good quality of everything as always

As usually with Veja products, the experience was very good. This time there were a couple of pitfalls (the original link for tracking the order did not work and the delivery company did not inform in advance about the delivery), but these were dealt with well.
The shoes look very good and exactly as they seemd on the pictures. I expect the same high quality and endurance, as with all the others Veja shoes I have. There is even an extra set of shoe laces with my new pair, I suppose in order to have one more colour option to match them and/or to change after they get wet during a hike

Ι love veja, 2years i'm trying to destroy your shoes (rio brancco) and i failed, so... i bought my second veja (condor royale) and i expect the same. Untill now, Veja means QUALITY not fast fashion garbages.

Don't bother to buy vejas for your…

Don't bother to buy vejas for your toddler. I received a pair as a gift (that normally cost close to 100 euros) and they're designed in such a way that they're impossible to put on without breaking your kid's foot. Can't be returned so they'll go in the bin unused. So much for "environmental" credentials.

My husband loves them!

My husband loves them! It’s the second pair I get for him. I recommend to purchase half size up, he normally wears 11.5 but with this style he needed a size 12.

Poor Customer Service and Strict Returns Policy

Normally a repeat customer of Veja.

I ordered from their site, with the understanding that the shoes were the right size. When the shoes arrived, i realised that the sizing was in US, not UK that is normally the size sold in Australia.

I contacted Veja directly and requested a return. I explained that the sizing chart wasnt clear and that I was a repeat customer. They admitted partial fault around the sizing chart, but refused to cover the cost of the return. The cost of return (both ways) would have been close to $100. I am now stuck with a brand new pair of shoes that dont fit me.

Beware of their returns policy, and how rigid and unhelpful their staff are.
