Personally found the software unusable

Personally found the software unusable. Contacted the company within days to try and cancel the order but they were quite abrupt in their answers despite me being both polite and explanatory - ultimately flat refused to consider. Don't offer a free trial to even access parts of the software and gauge usability/compatability. Certainly would not recommend.

This one is tricky to respond to, as we have other reviews of the same version of our software that say it is too simplistic, not technical enough.

Add to that the reviews where users had a great time and created amazing layouts, so we have to look at why different people have different views when using the exact same software.

The simple answer is the technical ability the user brought with them, and for those with limited previous experience, whether they took the time to complete our beginner's software course.

I cannot recommend it highly enough because it was created with those with no prior design experience in mind. It covers the fundamentals of the software in 7 easy lessons and was recommended in your welcome emails.

We also provide recorded tutorials, a help centre full of guides, and a support team of software experts who will create a personal tutorial for you once they are aware of the specific areas where you need additional help.

We can help, so it is really worth making sure that you use all of the tools available to help you create the layout that you planned in the first place

For use on a computer, our desktop app is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, as well as Mac OS Catalina and later versions.

I have located your account and can see that you have not yet completed our beginner's software course, which was recommended in your welcome emails. As this is new to you, I expect you to experience a few stumbling blocks if you do not complete all seven lessons.

They have been designed to get even the most inexperienced user creating their first layout within the hour, so it is really important to do so.

Useful but like banging your head into a wall

This is a useful software for visualising your van build, but to be honest it is incredibly frustrating to use. The rotate tool is completely broken, visualising and placing furniture is nigh impossible once your design gets at all cluttered, and it's just a bit of a nightmare. Also, your save files are saved locally (rather than to your account)! So if your laptop breaks they are all completely un-recoverable :) what joy.

I create many layouts weekly and find that I not only use the Rotate Gizmo, but also the Object Control Pad regularly, depending on my camera angle view.

Layouts can definitely get very busy, the more detailed that you get; however, we do provide different features, such as Object Focus and hide/reveal options, to combat this. It is also recommended to start in and work your way out.

Finally, yes, it is correct that all files are stored locally on your system, and backing up has long been recommended to all computer users, well before vanspace 3D was available.

version 4 is in development as we speak, so expect cloud saving to become another option later in 2026

Good when it worked…

I paid and downloaded it onto my laptop . It worked great for a couple of days . I even managed to layer up items such as water containers and batteries under the bed , ect . But after day 3 my laptop started to reject the software, saying it was corrupted and had viruses. So Iv now deleted it . Sorry that I had to , it worked great for, when it worked

Hi Mark,

I wish you had contacted us about this directly because I could have absolutely reassured you that an application can’t suddenly become malicious.

A virus is a specific type of malicious software (malware) that replicates and spreads.

If an app was clean when installed and hasn’t been modified or replaced, it can’t become a virus.

vanspace 3D is a clean application, proven for the last 6 years of providing it.

Applications are static code — they don’t change or rewrite themselves unless updated by a developer, and all vanspace updates are provided by way of a new application, which has to be manually installed by the user, to replace the old.

We have not released a new update to V3.08 for nearly 2 years because it is complete, and V4 is on its way.

Unlike biological viruses, software can’t “develop” new behaviour on its own. It only does what it was programmed to do.

Firewalls and antivirus tools are like security guards — they’re trained to spot known threats, but they’re not infallible. They rely on constantly updated threat definitions, and sometimes they miss things or flag safe apps by mistake. Did you recently update one or both of these?

Any other changes that you have made to your system? Have you run any 'housekeeping' recently?

You also mention a corruption alert.

When an app is flagged as corrupted, it usually means something interfered with its files or installation — not that the app itself turned bad. It’s like a book with missing pages: the content didn’t change, but something damaged it.

We can easily get you back up and running, so I recommend re-installing and getting in touch with our Support Team at hello@vanspace3d.com, with the following information.

A screenshot of any alerts, making sure the full screen can be seen

Not worth the money and locks you onto one device meaning you can't share plans if you use more than one device or as a couple.
Requested a refund but not offered so we have spent £53 on something we cannot use.

All personal licences allow you to install your software on up to 2 systems (anything more, we would assume that you need a business licence), so I can positively confirm that you are not locked onto one device.

As for the reviews here, the scoring system is flawed for digital content providers, great for physical item providers.

We get scored a 1 if a password was entered incorrectly, the system is below spec, download speeds at the user end are low, etc, etc, etc, or, as in this case, access limits are misunderstood.

Going straight to review rather than the provider is common, even for easily resolvable issues.

Reviews are also seldom updated; they just get forgotten about once we get the user up and running.

There is a good outcome when it comes to these reviews, though, and that is that we can provide the correct information in our responses, as we have here.

Finally, I have located one subscription cancellation request ( we do not offer a personal subscription; it is a one-off payment) in the name of Shane and with the initial P for the surname, which mentions multiple systems.

We responded to the email with the correct information, which allows you to continue using the two systems.

Intuitive and easy to use software

I found Vanspace to be quite easy to use and reasonably priced for its capabilities.
It has everything you need to build a layout concept for a van build.
It features some surprising advanced capabilities, including basic CAD modeling, scaling, and the ability to adjust 3D models already within the software.
I highly recommend it.

I almost did not buy this software…

I almost did not buy this software after reading and seeing these negative reviews! I'm sure glad I bought it anyways, I mean it's only $27, come on people. I've been using it for a couple of days and it's awesome. Now I have no doubt that most people review it negatively because they don't take the 20-30 minute learning curve to know how to use it. They provide great step-by-step, tutorials, and videos. I did those before jumping into the software and it's freaking awesome. I've already designed three different layout options for my van. The only thing I would say that they could improve is the van layout search. You can't just search "Ram ProMaster 136 WB", instead you have to look at a reference chart which list what layout code to pick based on the different manufacture/model names. I mean it's fine but more intuitive would be to just search the name and it'll display the layout. No big deal.

They are denying a refund !!!

I bought and paid for the tool and put a days worth of work into it. At the same day of buying this I recognised that this piece of software was just working they way they described and I expected it. So I asked for a refund. They started arguing through their ticket system whereas I was simply asking them for a refund at same day of payment. This is ridiculous! Basically the are flat out refusing a refund even though there is the EU wide 14-day withdrawal period. This can only be desribed as fraud and a massive rip-off. Just notice the mass of negative ratings here... Those gangsters should desperately be put in their place...

Terrible software - don't buy it

I recently purchased Vanspace3D and was sorely disappointed: the software feels outdated, key features advertised on their site are missing, and support never responded to my inquiries. Worse still, they flat-out refused my refund request even though I canceled within the 14-day EU withdrawal period. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.

1. We have been providing our software for over 6 years now, with version 4 in development right now.

Our software has an intentionally simplistic UI because it has been created for DIY van converters with zero previous 3D design experience

vanspace 3D users will be creating their first van conversion layout within the very first hour if following our begnners software course, rather than days of struggling to get to grips with other software with a steep learning curve (free certainly does not mean easy)

There are many other programs out there for the more experienced user, although we understand that they are not dedicated to van conversion as vanspace 3D is.

2. What key features are missing? We show the exact same software in action creating a layout and that we describe, that we supply access too

I have also re-read through your communications with us and can not locate any mention of features that we show or describe, that are missing

It is also worth considering they are not even missing? We have a team of software experts who can provide personal tutorials about every single feature.

3. Support has responded to every single one of your enquiries, and you have responded to them too

Ticket 48168 was responded to on the same business day
Ticket 48177 was a refund application stating that software login had not occurred. This was decined as software login had occurred, and was responded to the following business day
Ticket 48287 was responded to by automated response within seconds and merged into 48288 as it related to an incoming new refund request
Ticket 48288 was your refund application stating ´´Other Reason´´ and was responded to the following business day by my Service Team, requesting actual return information

We are based in the Netherlands and operate within normal business hours CET. Any communications received out of hours, are responded to the following day.

4. Your refund application is open, pending our request of further information.

Why has further information been requested? It is because you have purchased digital content and accepted that software login would waive any cooling off period, as is standard following any EU (and worldwide) regulations.

We are not going to force you to use our software if you are looking for something more technical, we can only provide what we describe and show.

We have asked that you provide specific return information as you are requesting a return outside of a refund policy, which at the time of writing this, has still not been received.

It is really important to add that it is vanspace 3D policy to not allow any review to sway the outcome of any refund request and hope that you will update your review to reflect events more accurately.

I heard alot of people talking about…

I heard alot of people talking about this website/ app and thought of giving it a try.
So after paying for it and i think its not worth the money. Thought they had examples on there so i can moditifive on my own but really dont't that great and very expensive for what it is. Not recommend just use a paper and pen and you are good to go.
But the app/website works complety fine thats why i am still giving 2 stars.

I am sorry to hear that you thought that we provided examples that you can modify yourself, as this is not something that we advertise anywhere.

Whilst we do provide 5 layouts that we have created that you can download, these are for inspiration and as learning/practice tools.

I am not sure that we should be down-starred for a feature not provided that we do not actually say that we do, but respect your dissapointment if this was somehow what you were expecting.

It is good to hear that our software works completly fine.

Pen and paper is a great option (maybe not as good as cutting out a cardboard box plan on the lounge floor) but recognising the large percentage of DIY converters who will change their layout after a year of living in it, is important.

vanspace 3D allows you to try out multiple layouts in multiple templates, to help you find the van and layout that is suitable for your personal van life. The fact that you can also walk around them in 3D is a huge plus, and will help you eliminate costly refurbs down the line

I made the payment

I made the payment, could not logi in . Support never answered any of my emails (10+ emails sent)

When i made the payment, vanspac3d team did not answer me for a couple of days. I could not login into my account for ridiculous reasons.
Now that i have canceled every thing,i made the bad review, and AFTER they replied to this review, they keep sending me emails like nothing happened.

UPDATE - There is an obvious issue with Fasil accessing emails. No response has been received to any contact made via email or any other official channel that relies on email notifications that we have tried, such as the Trust Pilot Messenging Service or the PayPal Messenging Service

A refund has been processed because software login did not occur within 30 days of purchase.

Not worth the price

I didn’t have any of the oft reported technical issues with Vanspace3D. It installed and ran on my m2 Mac mini with no issues. I also managed to quickly and easily bang out a rough prototype van layout for a 148wb transit mid roof. I’d say I got about $10 of value out of the software.

Good news stops there, the software is very thinly featured. Lots of dumb issues, e.g. no way to attach roof items to the roof so that when you turn off the roof visibility, the roof fan or roof rack you added are still there! There also seems to be no way to scale in only one direction, this makes custom sizing and fitting a real bore. No way to group or layer objects. The object they have are okay but it’s a very limited library. Don’t imagine you’ll be able to generate any useful van build measurements from this program.

They’re promising a new version (v4) at some point, maybe that will be better—I certainly hope they give that out for free if it turns up within my 1 yr of license because I currently feel pretty ripped off.

Just to put your mind at rest, all active vanspace 3D holders will receive access to V4 at no further cost, and I would recommend a lifetime licence to continue receiving free access to all new versions and updates during that time.

To address the issues that you have mentioned

1. The outside of the template has to behave the same as the inside of the template to allow outside areas to be created (strongly requested by previous users). The effect of allowing this is what you have mentioned. Grouping these outside objects together and moving to the side resolves quickly in v3, and placing back into position the same way when done.

2. V4 will allow more custom resize options

3. Grouping is available with the shift key, while selecting each item to group - A full layering feature will be available in V4

4. The Furniture Library has 700+ items; however, as in the real-life build, you will have to custom-build to fit the usual slopes and spaces that van conversion brings. 4. It will never be possible to produce absolutely accurate dimensions while the combinations of materials used for the insulation and panelling stages will vary in thickness so much,

Utilising during your design stages will enable you to find the right layout for your personal van life

It gets some things right

I've used this software for more than a year. I think I went into it with the right initial expectations. As far as the concept is concerned, this software does address a niche for people who aren't looking for full CAD and blueprints, but still want to be able to put a basic design together using simple drag-and-drop, stretch, rotate, etc., then peer around inside the result and get a feel for what works. This has helped me. It's possible to take it further and create a quite refined (if still cosmetic) design, but this take a lot more work. This really needs object grouping and layering capabilities, but this update has yet to come. Same story for cabling/plumbing capability. The lack of these developments is my biggest disappointment. In fact, I've not seen any updates, so I wonder if it will be developed further. For my electrical cabling design I had to resort to a shoe box and Sharpie...
On my desktop PC this package has always run cleanly. It is problematic on my new (more powerful) laptop. So there may be some luck involved here, which really shouldn't be the case. Handling of user files is poor - these cannot be saved to a user-chosen destination in a more conventional folder.
The Crafter van template I used is OK and I can accept that it is a bit of a simplification of reality, but it was a while before I realised it is actually about 16cm too long behind the rear axle (ouch) as a consequence of using the manufacturer's spec in an over-simplified way. Use this software to get a rough design, feed your inspiration, but don't expect too much. Honestly, I'm happy I used it, I didn't warm to the SketchUp learning curve - Vanspace is easy.
I have to say, though, that the way the company is responding to customers in Trustpilot here is toxic. For their own sake, they may need to rethink how to deal with the fact that most reviews are one star...telling the customer he/she is the problem is probably not going to cut it. And, yes, a free trial for a week...even just a day...would be a very sensible start.

V4 will include a brand new UI, massive upgrades, and many brand new features, including grouping/layering and wiring and plumbing, which I can confirm.

Pre-made templates will also be totally adaptable, and our custom template generator will be extremely detailed.

There is a lot more to be announced, so keep an eye out for our social media over the coming few months.

Regarding your thoughts on our Trust Pilot responses, I can totally understand your viewpoint and would absolutely agree if we were talking about a physical item.

The problem with Trust Pilot reviews when it comes to digital content is that the system setup matters more than anything, and one-star reviews are often given for an issue that can be resolved easily with a setting adjustment.

Users can be very quick to blame a program when their system has minimal available resources, and a quick clean-up is all that is needed.

The fact that Trust Pilot allows the use of the word scam in these reviews (and other defamatory terms) is diabolical, and we are united with other software providers in that there needs to be a uniform standard of scoring in reviews for digital content.

Did you read the instructions would be a great one to start with.

This is why, for now, we prefer to provide detailed and factual responses so that the full story can be told. For example, a one-star rating for using universal vehicle codes when our software is available worldwide is unfair. We go to great lengths to also provide a detailed help guide relating to each template, their known name in different countries and their dimensions.

Refund Denied

Refund Denied - I signed up for the tool and put some time into it. Realized it was just not going to work for me so I asked for a refund. Then emails back and forth them denying the refund and giving life lessons on how the world works. I simply asked for a refund in a timely manner as the tool did not work for me and they want to make a huge stand on it. Not cool.

Unbelievable unfriendly

Unbelievable, where simple change could help. If you want a template you have to know the code for the vehicle, with the guide to vehicles asking you to pick from some code , no idea what the code is, but its a joke. SO easy to fix and yet they make it more difficult than it needs to be eg I think this is the van Fi Du L3H3 but I have no idea what that code means. what on earth were they thinking, from there it just goes downhill. Not user friendly at all. The resolution of the software is like a 1980 DOS screen .It really is horrible, I appreciate its important to select the template but seriously I cannot even find how to start the software easily, its so clunky , its the only game in town but I would have better luck starting with a pen and paper. Maybe there is a prebuilt van you can start with, Im yet to find it, there are a million lesson and instructions but its not user friendly to find anything out, READ the reviews and believe them

It is unfortunate that you have written this review without using the vast amount of information available to you, including the beginners software course that we recommend following within your welcome email.

This course of only 7 short lessons is designed to have you completing your first layout design within the hour.

Lesson 6 is all about template selection.

Had you have followed this, you would have understood that we use the universal codes for each template, and could have very easily located the right template for your design.

You could have also clicked the question mark next to the template selection page search bar, which provides a detailed description of each template, their different names in different countries, and their dimensions.

I can not stress enough that following this course in it´s entirety gives you the flying start we want you to have, and for anything else, we have a complete help centre and knowledgable support team.

As for being user friendly, just like any other new game or software, there will be a learning curve. Following our dedicated course ensures that you learn the fundementals (and more) of the software quickly.
