Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 369 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful customer service, long wait times on the phone, and extreme difficulties reaching a real person for assistance. Consumers also experienced severe issues with unexpected payments, unwanted account fees, and lengthy delays regarding check deposits. Though some people encountered frustrating administrative problems, a small portion of reviewers were genuinely happy with the helpful and professional staff members who actively resolved their daily concerns. These consumers deeply appreciated when individual bank employees took the extra time to patiently guide them through difficult, confusing, and stressful financial situations.

Truist is the owning financial bank of Service Finance

Truist is the owning financial bank of Service Finance. They are just as bad as Service Finance. I have secured proof of payment on a loan that I had paid off via ACH Transfer on 8/6/2026 and to date the account with Service is still showed as "No Payment Received". I even have the payment ID number for the ACH. I would think after all the time I have spent with both financial institutions trying to get resolution so payment will be processed, somebody would have an intelligent response instead of putting me on hold and feeding me BS........One star is 100 too many should be negative for both companies

kidnapping my money

I tried to make a purchase for a vacation package and it kept saying that my purchase was declined. I had well over what the amount of the purchase in that acccount but it kept telling me it was declined even though every time I tried it texted me a code which I put in everytime time. I finally called them to see what the issue was and they would not increase the amount I was "allowed" to use, even though it is my money they had to "allow" me to use my money, I consider that robbery, not allowing me to spend my money even though it is there. I prefer internet banking even though they are difficult to use due to not having a local branch, but I believe that is going to have to be the way I will have to go again.

A Truist employee stole my identity…

A Truist employee stole my identity and took out loan in my name. They pocketed the loan money then billed me for the loan. Then they stole additional funds from my Account monthly. This bank is a criminal enterprise. Stay away.

Mortgage Transfer Nightmare

Truist completely blundered the transfer of my mortgage account from Loan Care to Truist. First, I receive the wrong loan number, then Truist auto deducts two payments instead of one mortgage payment. Then I am told I will have to pay fees to have Truist return the overpayment. 1 hour on the phone receiving no customer service.

I'm always waiting on drive through at…

I'm always waiting on drive through at least 15 even when I'm first as I am now sitting here and first. I had to ask what 3 times when I couldn't hear him and when he brought the mike closer I heard 1/2 of him then he moved away. The person in the business line has been there before me. I could see through the window a person standing at the counter holding his head up. I also always receive my bills in different direction. Either someone is not training these people or they aren't getting paid enough to care! Do you not allow more employees to work it's Saturday, not that it matters which day it is I always have the same issue

This bank is a severe pain in the rear

This bank is a severe pain in the rear. I put through a charge for $3000, no problem. I put through a charge for $1.24, fraud alert. I confirmed that the charge was legit and followed instructions to get charge approved. Charge denied fraud alert. I have spent more time on the phone with truist this month than with all of my relatives combined.

Truist bank never billed me for my safe…

Truist bank never billed me for my safe deposit box. I received a registered letter that the box was drilled and sent off to some storage site. There has been no communication from the bank regarding overdue payments. There was no notification before the lock was drilled.

I contacted the phone number listed on the notification for the escheat operations center, that phone number rolls over to a voice mail box where you leave a message and the do not return your call. I contacted the main bank number to complain but could not get help from them.

I drove to the branch to show them the letter I received but they could offer no help. They wanted to let the branch manager to regional manager to call me back in the afternoon. All I have received from them is crickets and no/poor customer service, there is something seriously wrong there and this customer is very unhappy.

Garbage bank

Garbage bank. They don't work for you—they work against you. Customer service is a joke, and dealing with them is nothing but frustration. I wouldn't trust them with my money. At this point, you're better off stashing your cash under a mattress.

I would have given 0 stars if I could…

I would have given 0 stars if I could have. Customer service stinks 🦨 .They require a photo ID EACH TIME you go in to the bank even though they can pull-up your ID from there computer and look at you ,which wood show it's you. All this extra ID crap could lead to your ID being hacked because the more you copy information the much bigger chance of your Info being hacked. This bank is a bank that you should RUN from at ALL COSTS.They have the worst customer service, they also DO NOT care about you the customer.Just LOOK at the reviews on the websites it will tell YOU with the reviews HOW BAD THEY really are.!!! You can contact your state and federal representatives along with your state banking commission, Attorney Generals office, federal banking commission and of course a good LAWYER. All of the above can put a LOT of pressure on the banks executives. Here is where your money is going ( ceo) bill rogers $14.31 million, ( senior evp ) donta l. wilson $6.29million ,(senior evp) kristin lesher $6.53million,(senior evp) michael b. maguire $5.04million and we still get POOR Customer service.Salary information came from Morningstar and simply wall Street.

Truist is definitely NOT true

There definitely should be a category for less than one star. I've been a customer of Truist for 15-20 years. The service went down after the BBT/SunTrust merger but I stayed. I can safely say they lost me today. I have a debit card receipt from QT gas station where I stopped on July 13th in the morning. The charge showed up as normal on my statement. The odd thing is that 3 days later, an identical charge appeared saying "debit card adjustment" for the same amount, same night at Circle K gas and was labeled as ATM. I was nowhere near Circle K, I'm a senior and don't drive at night and I only use Truist ATMs. I have disputed this charge twice. Truist has denied it twice saying my card was present. I only have one card and no one else has access to it. Whenever I've called about the dispute, there are no notes in the system and Truist has offered no proof of why they say my card was present. Someone at Truist has sat on their butt, didn't do due diligence and just thought I would take this lying down. I may only be one customer but Truist has lost my patronage today.

credit card

I have a business credit card. They continue to hold my payments even when proving that my other bank has released the funds to them. I use the card all the time. Nobody has an explanation as to why. They are the absolutely terrible. Impossible to do good business with them

I was the victim of fraud

I was the victim of fraud. An analyst, decided to close all my accounts including my son's accounts without any notice. I am told that I have to wait for a check in the mail for what was in my account so I can open a new account at another bank. I have called several times and have requested to speak with the analyst to understand what happened. So far, nothing. Meanwhile, I have no access to funds in order to pay bills, by groceries, gas, etc. I have been with this bank for nearly 20 years and feel an explanation is warranted. Currently, I am in bank limbo, and have no clue how long it will take to get my money. It seems that I am being blamed for this fraud, which I do not understand since I was the one who initiated the fraud alert to the bank.

Fraud

Fraud. Truist you prove I stole my money in Brooklyn and 5 Wegman locations in VA while sitting in my home! Truist will not honor FDIC agreement and give me my stolen money back. They should be the ones contacting my creditors and explaining why they are not getting paid(when I never miss nor pay late)because Truist allowed these stupid charges to pay. Yes! You, Truist are at fault in this thievery. Instead of telling me I authorized the charges; YOU authorized this theif’s charges. You know these are not mine but yet you pull this crap and don’t take ownership of your mistakes for not having stops in place. You won’t let me speak with anyone that can really help. You are not honoring your FDIC agreement and I will not allow you to get away with not protecting my funds. I may be the “little man” here but I will not let this go until Truist does the right thing. The police know it wasn’t me-I filed a report; why can’t my bank do the right thing? I will see to it; I will take my story to whomever will listen. Then I guess it’s small claims court.

Mikaylin (sorry if I spelled your name…

Mikaylin (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) at Waynesboro, VA was amazing! She helped me figure out I was being scammed and saved me from losing $2,500. She and the other ladies working today did a great job at advocating for me and letting me keep my dignity in this embarrassing situation. Thank you very much!
