Avoid plus fare! (only pay fare difference lie)

As a precaution against unforeseen circumstances, I chose Transavia's Plus fare when booking my flight. This fare supposedly includes "free" date changes up to two weeks prior to travel, with the traveler only paying any fare difference.

Four weeks before departure, I unfortunately got injured and needed to move my travel date. When checking Transavia's website, the exact same route and fare type on alternative dates was displayed at a slightly lower price than what I originally paid.

However, when I logged into my booking to change the flight, the system demanded an additional €300. A banner message suggested that fares shown on the website may occasionally be incorrect and advised contacting customer support.

I contacted both the hotline and WhatsApp support. Neither could provide any meaningful explanation beyond saying that prices on the website are dynamic and change frequently. This explanation did not match reality: the advertised prices remained unchanged for an entire week while the system continued to request the €300 surcharge.

In other words, despite paying extra for a fare that promises flexible changes, Transavia effectively charged far more for changing the flight than it would have cost to simply buy a new ticket. Customer support acknowledged the situation but offered no solution other than suggesting that I file a complaint.

This experience makes the "free change" promise of the Plus fare feel misleading and of little practical value. When rebooking, customers are then forced to checkmark that they accept a "potentially" higher price than what is publicly advertised on the website. That makes the situation appear less like an unfortunate technical glitch and more like systematic advantage taking.

It is disappointing to see Transavia rely on such deceptive practices while customer support is unable to resolve the issue.

Just a Whatsapp bot that does not answer and a telephone line that charges .5€ the minute that lets you wait in line…. Honestly it is a waste of time and money, could not get help and ended up loosing my flight even when i had time and payed extra for flex… absolute ripoff

They over booked our flight by 10-15 people, denied all of us boarding, and 8 months later they still haven’t paid us what they owe for the mistake. We also, had to take a flight 12 hours later at a different airport and they refused to pay for the taxi. I almost missed a wedding and got sick…the sickness then stuck with me the rest of the trip. Will never book with this airline every again.

I am an Air France Platinum member and aghast that I get absolutely nothing for this status from Transavia altho owned by Air France. They should at the very least give us free checked baggage. On top of that, Transavia seats are the worst, not comfortable. And finally the way they sell seats is criminal - u pay for everything and end up double the price once finished. If only there was an alternative!!!!!!!!!!!

Always delayed

Always delayed, always no information, our time is toy for them. Then they are not even offer you a glass of water. Cheap company, with cheap service and expensive tickets. Worst of the worst. More respect the have for the seats than their customers. Maybe a collective lawsuit will change their way of working.

I purchased a gift card for a friend

I purchased a gift card for a friend, thru the web address recommended on their site. My friend could only book thru flightgift, and they charged her 22 euros over the Transavia price. Maybe this is in their fine print somewhere, but the fact that Transavia listed this as way of buying a gift card on them is shameful. Never experienced this with buying other airline gift card. Buyer beware, this is so fraudulent. Shameful that airfrance/klm involved in this shady of practice.

Forced to pay exta & lost luggage

Somehow, the hand luggage that I literally took on the plane on the outward journey was suddenly too big on the retourn journey. So, I had to pay €70 extra so they would take it with the main luggage. And then to top it off, they lose it. Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had with an airline and I fly a lot.

Very poor payment management

I paid and received a successful payment message but only 3 hours later I received another email telling me that it was actually not completed (but no reason was provided) and that I needed to retry the payment again in the next 2 hours or my booking will be canceled. Because I was busy with other matters, I didn't notice this last email and couldn't do the payment again within the timeframe... resulting into paying almost 100 Eur more when I had to book my trip again... Very poor experience overall...

Truly outstanding customer service Daniel

We had a very stressful situation due to overbooking where our 11-year-old nephew was separated from our family booking. Daniel from the Transavia contact centre handled the case with exceptional professionalism and efficiency.

He understood immediately that a minor cannot travel alone and worked quickly to resolve the issue and reunite our family on the same flight.

His calm approach and problem-solving mindset made all the difference. Truly outstanding customer service. Thanks Daniel

Avoid Transavia

I booked a flight from Paris (ORY) to Jeddah (JED). Transavia’s official website explicitly states that passengers can bring up to 5 pieces of luggage totaling 50kg. However, after I purchased a 25kg allowance and tried to add a second bag, the app glitched.

When I contacted WhatsApp support, I was told that for "operational reasons and safety measures," this specific route is capped at 25kg per passenger. This restriction is nowhere to be found in their public documentation or during the booking process.

Transavia is advertising a service they refuse to provide and then citing "non-refundable" policies to deny a refund when their own documentation is proven wrong. Avoid this airline if you need to travel with more than one suitcase; their "50kg policy" is a bait-and-switch for certain routes.
