Total Scalpers
Total Cards attempted to keep my money (stealing) for 10 months, refused to give me the products I ordered and made no apology.
I preordered Pokémon Paldean Fates products in December 2024 wanting to complete my master set. For 10 months, I never received my product and also received no updates on when I’d receive it unless I actively badgered their customer service.
Last week a friend of mine who also shops there informed me that actually, they had these products in recently, and rather than give me the product I had prepaid for, they scalped them off for around 3x the price. I emailed them angrily about this and they *admitted they had the product and sold it for more*, offered no apology and finally processed my refund after almost a year. This is after I’ve loyally purchased products from them (YuGiOh, Pokemon, singles and accessories) for about 1.5 years.
Don’t even bother ordering from Total Cards in 2025 or get ready to be scammed. Used to be a solid shop, but has rapidly gone downhill, which is evident from the prices (higher than any other shops in the local area, including small independent vendors) and game nights with only 6-8 people.

great service
great service! great team! never had an issue with any order, and they come fast, on time and we'll packaged. sweets in every purchase so far. I can't complain.
Total Cards? More like Total Waste!
Constant late pre-orders (and always getting the same response of "supplier issues", even after apparently changing supplier).
Had an order not arrive even after EIGHT MONTHS, with no communication and nothing done until I got fed up and just told them I wanted a refund.
DO NOT USE! Other sites are far more reliable!

not good
I don't appreciate how this company have dealt with pokemon TCG products. There are smaller companies that are managing to sell new products at a normal price, yet total cards are often charging more due to 'limited availability' that everyone else is also dealing with.
Plus to get early access to buy these products, you would have to pay around £500 a month as they choose to reset their tier systems every single month! Leaves a bad taste for loyal customers who have previously spent a lot with them and it needs rethinking.

Return refused, hidden terms & conditions
Bought a £200 Mystery Box and had really high hopes. The contents were well below the value paid and the boxes are NOT RETURNABLE. The photos on the listing are not an accurate representation of any box contents at all - I am aware it’s a mystery box so obviously the photos aren’t of what you’ll receive, but they provided a vastly inflated impression of expected box contents. Mine contained items, mostly accessories and toys (tat) with a current market value of around £160. I paid £200, plus shipping. The listing description and photos are misleading.
It doesn’t state on the listing that these are NOT RETURNABLE, regardless of whether you’ve opened them or not, nor is this information provided in the Returns & Refunds policy. Customer service were polite but unhelpful and quoted that it states in their Ts&Cs that they’re not returnable, but it doesn’t say so anywhere on their listing, nor are the Ts&Cs provided during the buying process when using Shop Pay to pay. The information on them not being returnable is also not stated in their Returns & Refunds policy, it’s hidden low down in the Terms & Conditions, which feels deliberately misleading and dishonest. I’ve contacted Trading Standards for advice on whether these policies abide by UK consumer law with regards to the Distance Selling Regulations and hidden terms.

Not really fair trade-in process
The company offers trade-in options with a process that arguably puts them in a position to win every time.
You need to send the cards to the shop completely blind from what the offer would be, then you need to either accept or deny their offer.
If you deny, you will need to pay the sorting fee and shipping cost to retrieve your items, or you will be offered a low-value quote (so you don't fall into the previously described ending).
A quote in advance (or range, or value calculator) would be better, so the consumer has an estimate of the value being sent.

Bizarre and unprofessional
Pre ordered some stock with plenty of time and there was a delay in some of it arriving. I was not told this and whilst seeing other stores receive stock without issue, it must be that this store uses a distribution network that isn't great. Email replies were quick but lacking in any care or professionalism.
In the end due to the ambiguity I asked for a refund which took a fair old while to get back to me.
I think also judging on other reviews that this shop may burn you one way or another and please do research before purchasing ( if I would have known they were on whatnot I would have not made a purchase)
I also asked in a public group about my concerns and was met with other unhappy reviews so my advice would be stear clear of this one.
********************
In reply to the point raised about whatnot. It is clearly known that the platform has a poor record and it is also known in the collecting community that there are a fair few bad actors on that platform. Although it may be fun to interact with an audience of collectors I do not believe the promotion of gambling or the promotion of the platform to be good practice. Please check out rattle on YouTube and you will see daily videos of Pokémon scammers on that platform from all around the world.
I understand that you may also have tried on your emails and that the refund process "is in line with guidelines" but that doesn't really improve the situation I had.
After all the feedback from other reviews and from the communities I am in I will most likely not use this business again and I again promote the use of research before purchasing along with not purchasing with somewhere that does not agree with your ethics

You could buy here or cheaper from scalpers
Wow! Card shop charging more than scalpers, unbelievable!
The shop claims to be "for the community" and that they "value" their customers but that must only apply when their is not extra profit to be squeezed out of people, new release Pokémon ETBs £20 above retail, various single packs £10, £15 and even £45 in some cases!
Before TCs starts saying it's about market fluctuations, suppliers, staff costs, rent ect ect their is a local shop the next town over who orders a small fraction of what TC dose from the same distributor, so dose not have the wholesale buying power TC dose but still sells the ETBs at retail. The ETBs are cheaper from scalpers on eBay/ Facebook ect and are delivered to your door, with proof of purchase. Other reputable online stores are selling the £45 packs TC has for £30, £15 below TC and yes they order directly from the supplier to and are genuine.
Honestly, why anyone buys for or supports this store is beyond me. Really disappointing and such a shame for a card shop this size that is right on our door step.
The website is a scam
The website is a scam. After I have asked for a refund. They have blocked my access on the website. Now I do not know if my refund will go through. I have contacted support the first time to inquire about this and they ignored what I said. I have emailed them again so lets see if they respond.
I would not recommend anyone to this site.

Ordered some Japanese White Flare…
Ordered some Japanese White Flare booster packs and they actually came earlier than expected which was great! I pulled the BWR Reshiram card and was excited until I noticed that there were two areas of missing texture on the card, but I'm assuming this was just bad quality control on the printing side. Despite being a bit bummed about this I'm overall happy with the shopping experience.
Amazing customer service
Ryan from customer service was amazing and very helpful with an issue with an order. I've not experienced this level of customer service before and will certainly shop with Total Cards again.

Ryan from customer service team is a star always helping me with any information I need, I wanted to add to an order an it’s just no problem the fella know how to use the system they have, always gets things done for me appreciate his help! Total cards lucky to have this man!
Smooth transaction
I pre-ordered some individual booster packs from Total Cards. Coms were great during the wait and they all arrived quickly after release, and in great condition.
Unprofessional and full of bad practices
Avoid this place. Never order online from them.
Business is very poorly managed, by people who are clearly only in it for money.
Regular staff are alright but are at the mercy of horrendous management, it’s a recipe for disaster.
Recently pre-ordered some pokemon cards at regular price, only to be emailed by the company days later stating that they made a pricing error and need me to pay the difference.
Normally I’d think “eh, bad company” and move on, but their email responses have been so unprofessional, pushing all blame onto the customers and going so far as to gaslight them?!
Genuinely, stay away from these guys. It shouldn’t be supported.
Should they leave a response here attempting to clear their name, don’t believe it. It’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

2/5 could be better with updating customers
Didn't have the best first time pre ordering failed to mention that it would be late by 2 weeks..
would of been nice for an updated email rather than having to chase more than 2-3 times to get an answer of an actual dispatch date.

Both in the shop and on their whatnot…
Both in the shop and on their whatnot streams I’d recommend avoiding. As a business they clearly prioritise £ over customer experience. Ultimately better shops and more customer friendly streamers out there who encourage repeat custom by not mis-leading viewers. They blocked me on whatnot to avoid this review going on there. Avoid

Does not deliver preorders on release date
What's the point in taking money for preorders and then not bother fulfilling for release date specified on the website?
Avoid.

The worst trading card company I have…
The worst trading card company I have ever purchased from. The website is useless. The notifications re new stock is false and I attempted to order the exact same minute an item became available on the site, I had it in my basket and when I went to pay it then send item is out of stock even though it had only became available the minute I ordered it. RIDICULOUS SERVICE PROVIDED FROM THIS WACK COMPANY.

IMPORTANT FOR READERS
IMPORTANT FOR READERS: Their responses to everyone regarding this specific situation have been lies. This “store policy” of limits on booster bundles was NOT there when I placed my order back in November 2024. Gaslighting your customers is actually crazy. If there ACTUALLY was a limit, you would not be able to add more than one to your basket, let alone check out and pay.
And them claiming to make the stock available at MSRP at their gaming centre like they’re some sort of saviour is funny. If they do end up doing this, it’s likely just to save face after the backlash. If that’s the case, why was the same item on your website marked up recently? And why are you selling individual packs on whatnot for £8.95?
Onto my story:
Placed a preorder well over 5 months ago, which included 4 Pokemon Prismatic Booster Bundles. £23.95 each.
Last month, my order was fulfilled but with only one of the four items - saying only “some of your items have shipped”. No mention of cancellation or anything.
Fast forward, today I receive an email that saying those extra items have been refunded - a whole 5 months after placing the preorder and a month after the release date of those specific items. Their reasoning was “product limit of one per cutomer”. This is completely untrue as there was no limit at the time and they sold the same item for a marked up price on their website just a couple weeks back. They’re using this excuse as they see the product is sought after and don’t want to sell for retail price. Scalper behaviour.
The recent boom in Pokemon has shown which retailers actually value their customers and which ones take advantage of them. I will not be returning even if they sell these products at MSRP again as this experience has shown me they’re no different to scalpers.
