Poor customer service

Edit: I invite any consumer to look up a 1989 Chrysler TC by Maserati on their site and click the "top with window" tab. The information on that screen tells you the options for buying and what you will receive from them. Aside from the misleading website, why was I not informed of this when I received a response to my email? I was simply just told to call.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to experience the customer service that other individuals who have reviewed them have. Their website states that I can order a specific section of the convertible top for my car, as it’s in two pieces. I sent an email requesting an estimate on the cost of replacing just the window section of my top. I was given the phone number and told to call in for a quote when I called in for a quote. I was told that the tops are not sold separately and that they are only sold as one and it was gonna cost over $1000. Their website is incorrectly stating that you can purchase something one way but then you’re told something the exact opposite and they won’t honor. Which leads me to question whether they are a good company to work with at all.

We're sorry to hear that David had a bad experience. Unfortunately this is a case of miscommunication.

Many convertible tops are made from two sections - a top section (above the driver's head) and a window section (the rear window with a ribbon/frame of material around it) which, when the two pieces are installed together on the convertible top frame, they appear from the outside to be one single convertible top.

The make/model for which David was shopping was made with this type of 2-piece convertible top. We explain what 2-piece convertible tops are on our product page, and we share the information that, if someone wants to, they can simply replace one or the other of the two pieces. We share this because we want our customers armed with this information in order to make an informed decision. Sometimes we may lose a sale if we are not carrying one or the other of the individual pieces, but it's better to inform the customer fully than hide important information from them.

Additionally, on the product page upon which David was shopping, we make it clear that we are only offering BOTH pieces of the convertible top for sale as a single purchase. The fact that TopsOnline only offers both pieces of that 2-piece convertible top doesn't change the fact that customers can still opt to replace one piece or the other - it just means they may need to shop elsewhere to purchase the individual convertible top section they need. We're not going to withhold important information from a customer, EVEN IF IT MEANS WE MIGHT LOSE THE SALE.

When David called our shop, we explained this situation to him and explained that TopsOnline only sells both pieces together. We did our best to convey this in a positive, friendly manner. I'm sorry that wasn't enough for David, and we wish him they very best as he searches for the convertible top piece he's looking for.

Tops Online is AWFUL

Tops Online is terrible! We bought an EZon top and it didn't fit. They sent us another one, and it didn't fit. I have a very experienced installer doing this too and he warned me about EZon being trash. After many calls to multiple installers and manufacturers, they all said the same thing - do NOT buy EZon. Many installers told me they won't do the install if it is EZon. I went back and forth for months with Tops Online and the technician from EZon to get a refund and now they just ghost me and don't even respond. I needed a top that would fit and I bought one from KeeAutoTop and it fit right on and is much better quality.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy from Tops Online or EZon. This is the worst experience I've had while restoring multiple cars.

EDIT:

We decided to edit the original post after TopsOnline responded with almost 100% false claims. Below are more details to the unfortunate and ridiculous experience we encountered:

1.) The one part of their response that is accurate, is the approved warranty claim. When the first top arrived, the rear window had a large crease created by the zipper through packaging. We informed TopsOnline and they sent us a new one. When it arrived, my installer went to install the top, and it did not fit. We reached out to TopsOnline and they sent us a second one. Same result - did not fit.

2.) When we decided to go get a new top from another manufacturer we had instant success. Top was installed with zero problems. So this isn't my installer's fault. Its Ezon's product (and they don't have a great reputation).

3.) There comment "which was sadly like pulling teeth from a wildcat" (clever TopsOnline - I see what you did there haha). They are correct - this entire process is like pulling teeth from a wildcat to get a refund.

4.) Their claim that our installer is not the best communicator is false. I know my installer personally and he said he missed the first call from Ezon's technician, but tried multiple times to call back and sent emails to the technician with no response. The Ezon technician doesn't even respond back to me!!! The communication problems come from Ezon.

5.) Their claim they have two dozen emails with me the customer proving my installer stopped returning phones calls and stopped answering emails is a blatant LIE!. Its the other way around as mentioned in item 4 above. My installer sent many pictures to the Ezon technician, in which the technician recognized.

At the end of the day, I am out approximately $2000 and I didn't get a finished top. All I asked for was a refund on the top which was a little over $500 and both TopsOnline and Ezon ghosted me.

Now I will give credit where credit is deserved. I interacted with 2 representatives from TopsOnline. They weren't on the same page, but individually they did do their best to mitigate the issues. The real problems occurred when they looped in Ezon's technician. TopsOnline should really consider getting a new manufacturer.

My biggest regret is not doing my research before hand. Otherwise I would have learned that Ezon is hot garbage.

I hope that my review can help a potential customer from going through the same issues we did.

This review is confusing at best. We did our best to support the customer through a Warranty Claim, which was approved; EZ ON supplied a replacement Window Section for the customer at no charge and the customer was happy at least based on his emails. Then the customer's installer had problems with installation. It turned out that the customer wasn't working with an actual professional Trim Shop, and he even sent us pictures which proved the installer was working from his (or someone else's) home garage. Later conversations showed that the person our customer was using wasn't even known by the Trim Shop that he claimed to work at; instead the installer said he owned a different shop but was working on the customer's car from his home (no explanation was given as to why it wasn't being handled at his own shop). We were then stuck trying to get the customer's installer to cooperate with the manufacturer's expert technician, which was sadly like pulling teeth from a wildcat. Our manufacturer's expert went out of his way to try again, and again, to get the customer's installer to return his phone calls and send clarifying images to help make direct the installer on how to correct his installation. The installer failed repeatedly to provide pictures as directed by the manufacturer's expert, and stopped returning phone calls and stopped answering emails. We have roughly two dozen emails with the customer which prove all of this. Unfortunately, it became clear during the communication process that our customer was dealing with an installer who was not the best communicator. We wish no ill will upon our customer; this is all on the installer's shoulders at this point.

I'm so sorry it so long to post this review that took over 3yrs !!
Business that do this kind of work are far and few in my area !!
Just happen to have a new Business that does this now !!Did take close to a yr to get schedule but finely do have very nice looking new vinyl roof on 1972 Dodge Dart Swing that been in family for three generation now . The vinyl fit perfect along with the color to match that some what close !!
I'm Very Very Please with TopsNoline company along with the product they have. Will do more business with them in future !!!

I ordered a top for my son

I ordered a top for my son - who lives in Phoenix - they will not ship to Phoenix as I am in Las Vegas - they will only ship to Las Vegas - what the hell is online ordering about???? Order cancelled and I will take my business elsewhere.

We take protecting our customers seriously, and for that reason we use extra precautions to prevent credit card fraud. One of the most common types of fraud that is committed online is using a valid billing address but requesting the product to be shipped to an alternative shipping address out of state. When enough flags are raised, for the protection of the credit card holder, we decline to ship to any address other than the cardholder's billing address. We do not intend to cause our customers a headache, rather, we simply aim to avoid allowing a fraudulent transaction to slip through. We wish this customer the best.

These people have disgusting customer…

These people have disgusting customer service, they are arrogant in their approach and cost me time and money. I asked for a courier service, they could not answer my request and passed the request straight back to me. I had paid for the top for my 58 Cadillac in full including shipping. Out of the blue they cancelled my order and returned my money. Due to the international transfer I lost 68USD in the transaction. I had to absorb that as they refused to refund in full. In a matter of fact email this became my problem and they stopped communicating. Use these arrogant clowns at your own risk? I will review them badly everywhere as they do not deserve to be in business?

Ferrari seats

I purchased Ferrari seat covers from him and was very satisfied. Quality, color and craftmanship were all TOP OF THE LINE. A couple years after I bought another Ferrari with seats that were very tired and needed redoing. I sent him the complete seats and they came back in UNBELIEVABLE condition. Almost better than new. I also bought a 500SL top and a roll bar cover and again perfect product.
I have NEVER been unsatisfied with their bisiness.
