Not the best but ok overall, things that can be easily improved by the management.

Spent a couple of nights. The room size was good and clean. The swimming pool and sauna were acceptable, but the steam room had a strong mould smell and could not be used.

The food was very poor and overpriced. For example, £23 for an oven-baked salmon, but it was served fried in a pan, full of grease and oil. The £37 steak was not edible, so had to sent back both, and we ended up ordering food through Deliveroo instead.

The staff were friendly. I was told by employees that the hotel previously had different (Italian) management and that these issues did not exist before.

There were also mice running in the hallway. I managed to catch one on video by chance.

Cancelled Xmas Party 18thDec.. still selling tickets

Little surprise this place is only rated 3.5 .. they have cancelled the party night on the 18th, people have booked rooms too and of course now we ll be hard pushed to get in a works 'do' somewhere else for xmas-
on top of that they're still selling tickets to it. The manager should find Santa has give them a P45

Great Location and friendly staff

We booked hotel through Expedia and it was straight forward. The communication via emails was great and we were given option to reserve restaurant before hand. Check in was easy and staff were friendly and helpful. As one of the guests had to drop out at the last minute did to ill health, we could not cancel in time for a full refund. Staff considered our situation and after speaking with manager, agreed to a full refund.
The rooms and facilities were clean and well kept. The ambience is great and it is a great place to relax and chill. Certainly an excellent location with Oxford and Bicester village only a half hour drive away …
thank you to the staff for making the stay pleasant and relaxing !

I and my family have used this hotel…

I and my family have used this hotel many many times. We had booked 2 nights a few days apart as a stopping point on our journey from Shropshire to Penzance to visit our Auntie/Sister to celebrate her 94th Birthday. Unfortunately she died, we contacted the Belfry to ask is we could potspone the bookings as we would imminently still need them to travel down for the Funeral. The response was yes but only if the new dates were booked before the actual booing dates, but at this point we were in the hands of Coroners/ Funeral directors etc. The hotels attitude was extremley disappointing. When I booked the rooms I did not ice a tick box offering Cancellation/Postponement Insurance so I thought No problem I will claim on that. OH no, Booking/coms Recommended Insurer Zurich came back saying that as the cancellation/Postponement was not a 'ticketed' event the claim was Denied. An interesting point here is that you book the rooms and check the Insurance box you have NO idea of what it covers, you assume cancellation or a postponement. Not some small print reason to deny the claim of some £245. The whole sage shows Booking.com. Zurich Insurance and the Belfry in a very poor light.
