Lovely location, but average food and overworked staff
This is one of our local pubs and so we tend to pop in most months. The setting and decor are amazing as its set in a mature gardens with the old mill stream and race sliding by next to you.
Unfortunately our last 4 visits over the past 6 months have left the food and staff wanting. Food is average at best for the price and the bar service during our last visit made us feel like we were in the wrong due to a misunderstanding around how many pints we wanted.
We always seem to see the same faces who are generally friendly, but look like they are at the end of their tether and perhaps we just got a bar person who had reached theirs. Which makes you wonder if they are understaffed during the summer holiday months.
If you want a lovely location and are happy to pay slightly more for average food for that location and run the risk of getting the blunt end of an over-worked staff member, then its a winner.
