My third camino trip with The Natural Adventure

I completed my third Camino trip (Burgos to León) with The Natural Adventure, and certainly, it will not be the last.

Everything went smoothly from submitting the booking until the end of the trip.
I can not emphasise enough how pleased I am with their services and their attention.

I look forward to booking again my next length of the Camino Francés.

We had a great trip cycling in Menorca

We had a great trip cycling in Menorca. The tour was very well-organised and all the information was helpful. The accommodation was also excellent. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would recommend TNA to everyone.

Fantastic tour

Fantastic tour. We walked the Camino Primitivo back in September and had a great time, the company were flexible with our request to shorten the trip and communicated well throughout. Next year we’ll be booking the rest of the Camino.

Camino Francés: Burgos to León

We had a wonderful time continuing our Camino journey.
Once again The Natural Adventure arranged a fantastic holiday. The mixed accommodations was great, luggage transfers were very efficient, we were able to track our bags with our air tag, and most of the days luggage was at the next accommodation by 11,00.
Information received was more than enough.
We look forward to continue next year till we reach Santiago de Compostela.

No value add - there are better options

My experience booking with Natural Adventure was very poor. They did not carefully review information that I provided (originally booked the wrong dates) for 5-day trip to Morocco. I also inquired about potential ad-ons to my trip and they were extremely slow in responding (I finally booked with another company for this portion). When I pressed these issues, the team members were rude and treated me like I was a burden to them rather than an important customer. Finally, I was injured on the trip and when the local guide contacted Natural Adventure about making an adjustment to my itinerary, the Natural Adventure representative responded dismissively “no, that is what trip insurance is for” ….I understood the policy, but the rudeness was simply unnecessary especially in light of my medical situation. The only good thing about working with Natural Adventure was that they did partner with an excellent local guide Active Treks). My recommendation-go straight to the local company, Natural Adventure added costs, complications, rudeness and added little value.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your recent tour. We sincerely regret the injury you sustained, and we wish you a swift and complete recovery.

Concerning your tour arrangements, it is essential to emphasise that our team demonstrated exceptional dedication in crafting a customised itinerary that accommodated your specific requirements and preferences. Throughout the process, our team worked diligently to manage your tour logistics and maintained consistent communication via both telephone and email. When you expressed a desire to alter your travel dates due to a prior misunderstanding, we promptly accommodated this request at no additional charge. Furthermore, the team offered valuable recommendations for alternative travel arrangements to ensure that all aspects of your tour were seamlessly coordinated.

In response to your request for management involvement, a senior member of our team was assigned to oversee the finalisation of your arrangements, providing you with reassurance that all details were meticulously addressed. It is unfortunate that, despite these extensive efforts, you perceived the service as unsatisfactory. Our team consistently engaged with you in a courteous and positive manner, and we sincerely regret that the service did not align with your expectations.

We are pleased to learn you had a positive experience with the local guide selected for your trip. We have established a strong partnership with our regional collaborator, with whom we have successfully worked for many years. This collaboration has proven mutually beneficial, allowing us to effectively provide a diverse range of tours and experiences for our guests to enjoy. Notably, our entire team recently returned from our annual staff retreat in Morocco, further reinforcing this collaboration and strengthening our friendship.

Once again, we appreciate your choice to travel with us, and we hope you have many more enjoyable adventures in the future. The Natural Adventure Team.

Algarve walking

We went on a holiday to Portugal - Walking in the Algarve - with high hopes when we read the reviews on this company. We were more than disappointed to the point that we made a formal complaint requesting compensation. One hotel had cockroaches, mal-functioning bathroom and terrible buffet food. Another hotel that we stayed in for our last night had a plywood boarded up window attached with parcel tape and mouldy bathroom walls. The company claimed that we would experience warm Portuguese hospitality but in the two of the hotels staff were rude and unhelpful. “I’ll send the housekeeper to kill the cockroaches!” was the extent of the sympathy that we received about our reasonable complaint.

The walking plan on two of the days fell short of expectation - a two hour walk on one day, stretched to 3 hours, left us waiting for a pick up in a small town with no visible attractions.
Their web site listed a pick up from a point that avoided a 5km walk along a tarmac cycle path (well used) beside a busy road. However, despite confirming this twice, the taxi driver still went to the wrong end of the cycle track.

We have been offered money off a future holiday but such was our experience that we cannot risk more disappointment. The company don’t accept responsibility for any of the shortcomings caused by their agents in Portugal.

In short, accommodation, trip logistics and value for money fell well below expectations.
We are very experienced walkers both in UK and overseas. We have used many different companies to route plan and we have never had such a disappointing experience like this.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent tour, although we regret you found certain aspects disappointing. As discussed privately, we are pleased to learn that you enjoyed several of the accommodations along the route; however, we acknowledge your dissatisfaction with others. Following discussions with our local partner, we were informed that this represents the first instance of such feedback regarding this popular tour. They informed us of their continued collaboration with the selected hotels and noted that there had been no prior complaints regarding these establishments. We, therefore, regret the accommodations fell short of your expectations, and in recognition of the challenges you encountered, we offered a goodwill gesture with the intention of arranging a more favourable tour experience in the future.

In reference to the logistical planning of this tour, it is categorised as one of our "Slow Adventures," specifically designed for individuals who desire a more relaxed and leisurely walking experience. This format offers opportunities to pause and fully appreciate the natural scenery and surroundings, with participants frequently taking breaks to engage in activities such as swimming, birdwatching, enjoying a picnic lunch, or simply relaxing while appreciating the views along the route. Consequently, it is uncommon for guests to arrive at the meeting point several hours in advance of the designated collection time. Nonetheless, it is essential to highlight that our transfer schedules are designed to accommodate the varied hiking paces of our guests. While these schedules are established at standard intervals, adjustments can be made as necessary, and we are grateful for your willingness to utilise this flexibility when needed. However, it is unfortunate that the leisurely pace of the itinerary did not meet your expectations and that you perceived the tour as lacking value for money.

Lastly, we regret to learn that, at the conclusion of your tour, the taxi was positioned incorrectly following your final walk. We understand your frustration concerning this issue, particularly since the adjustment of the collection point had been requested and confirmed in advance. However, we are pleased to note that the proximity of the two locations allowed the taxi driver to promptly retrieve you at the Cape St. Vincent lighthouse and successfully transport you to your final accommodation.

We would like to express our appreciation for the time taken to provide feedback on your recent tour. Whether positive or constructive, such feedback represents a valuable source of insight, providing perspectives from hikers with varying expectations and abilities, enabling us to assess the itinerary's overall suitability comprehensively. Following a detailed evaluation of your concerns, we acknowledge your disappointment and sincerely regret any inconvenience and dissatisfaction experienced during your tour, particularly regarding the accommodations and logistical arrangements outlined in the itinerary. This information is invaluable and will inform our decision-making as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Once again, thank you for choosing to travel with us. We remain optimistic that you will consider taking advantage of our goodwill offer, allowing us to arrange another more successful adventure in the future. The Natural Adventure Team.

Porto to Santiago central route experience.

We did the Porto to Santiago central route with the company. The organisation and information was really good and our accommodation, pre booked, was of a very high standard in all cases. The owners and staff at the locations were so very pleasant and helpful. The experience was wonderful and I would recommend the company without reservation.

Self guided hiking on the Via Alpina: Day 1. Mürren - Pochtenalp Day/2. Pochtenalp to Blüemlisalp Day/3. Blüemlisalp - Kandersteg

Even though this three day hike through a section of the Via Alpina lead us through most beautiful alpine landscapes we felt we were ill advised with a too strenuous and demanding itinerary in very steep terrain with 6-8 hour long hikes each day. In hindsight we realized that the itinerary sent to us by The Natural Adventure lacked a comprehensive description of the distance, time and the level of difficulty of our daily hikes. Had we known these details, we would have broken our trip down into shorter hikes and would have equipped ourselves with better hiking shoes and two hiking sticks instead of only one. On the first day I ended up straining my knee at the end of the 14 mile hike and wasn’t able to continue the remaining hikes. It seemed strange that two weeks before our departure Eurotrek took over all the logistics of our trip. They sent us an email with pre departure info, navigation and emergency contacts. Their info also didn’t offer much detail on the daily hikes and the maps were fairly confusing and weren’t tailored to our start and endpoints.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent trip. We are delighted our 3-day tailored itinerary effectively showcased the natural beauty of the Bernese Oberland region. However, we regret to learn of the difficulties encountered and the injury sustained at the conclusion of the first day's trek. We sincerely hope you have since recuperated fully.

Upon initial contact, you indicated a desire to arrange a bespoke trip from Mürren to Kandersteg. Although this specific route was not among our standard offerings, we collaborated with Eurotrek, our longstanding partner in the region, to accommodate your request and curate a personalised trip tailored to your preferences based on our Hiking the Via Alpina: Bernese Oberland tour.

This particular tour is categorised as one of our more challenging tours with a 'moderate to strenuous' rating. Such tours are designed for those looking for more demanding and rewarding hikes, often featuring extended steep ascents and descents in high mountain (alpine) terrain, with up to 30 kilometres of walking per day, as noted on our website.

During the process of tailoring your itinerary, you independently selected and reserved one of our alternative tours, featuring a less strenuous route with significantly shorter walks. Subsequently, however, you expressed hesitance and reservation, citing familiarity with the area and a dislike for the shorter walks and, therefore, a preference to proceed with your bespoke trip to the Bernese Oberland.

Throughout the entire process, we made great efforts to accommodate your requests, providing comprehensive information on elevation and distance at each stage of the itinerary creation process and incorporating a stay at the remote Blüemlisalp hut. However, approximately one week prior to the commencement of your tour, our customer support team received several requests for information and modifications. These were promptly addressed, with your specific arrangements taken into consideration and additional logistics coordinated to meet your personalised needs. Despite the inclusion of the requested information in your tour materials, we extracted the pertinent details and subsequently presented them individually to ensure optimal clarity. You expressed satisfaction with the prompt and attentive service provided, a consistency maintained throughout the booking process.

We were, therefore, surprised to discover your confusion regarding the navigational materials provided by our local partner, Eurotrek, and subsequent dissatisfaction. This was particularly unexpected given we learned, during the finalisation of your tour arrangements, of your independent additional tour reservation directly with Eurotrek. Following our discussion, you opted to cancel the aforementioned reservation and proceeded with our arrangements, acknowledging that Eurotrek was responsible for the tour logistics as our local partner. The tour materials provided consistently receive praise for their comprehensive nature, which includes access to the Guibo app, GPS data, a meticulously detailed 110-page route book in PDF format, and stage maps. Guests have noted they find these resources especially beneficial and accurate when used in conjunction with physical waymarking.

We acknowledge that your recent tour may not have entirely aligned with your expectations; however, your feedback is invaluable to our ongoing efforts to enhance our services. When embarking on tours of this nature, thorough preparation is imperative, including the acquisition of appropriate hiking gear tailored for mountainous alpine terrain. Therefore, we regret to hear that you felt ill-prepared for the trip. Despite the challenges encountered, we trust that you found the trip enjoyable and were able to appreciate the natural beauty of the Bernese Oberland. We appreciate your choice to travel with us and look forward to your return in the future! The Beara Way

In May we made the best hiking trip ever in Ireland. We hiked the Beara Way in 8 days and its been absolutely the best and most beautiful hike we have ever done! The Natural Adventure team thought along with all our wishes, they were easy to reach and applied quickly to all our questions. They set us up with all the information needed, no stress there. We had detailed day to day information, a good map and tips for where to eat and get groceries. They selected a nice variety of accomodation.
The route was well signposted, at some places the route was different to the map but we were instructed well to follow the sign posts. The sceneries were absolutely stunning; it was desolate, rough and magical. We had lots of ocean views, bogs, sheep, hills and little termac roads. We also went to Beara island and we had a day trip to Dursey Island, both worth a days visit. The hosts were all very friendly and helpfull, our lugage transfer was taken care off and the meals at the guesthouses were home made cooked with a good variety for vegetarians like us.
The towns we passed were very colourfull and they had a good vibe. We couldnt be luckier with the weather. Its been dry and sunny for the week, that did made it even more magic!

Walking tour of Cappadocia

We have just returned from a self-guided walking tour of Cappadocia. The pre-departure information was good, with detailed notes on the walks, transfers and accommodation. The walks were varied and interesting and we were surprised how few people we met! The trails were not always easy to follow, the difficulty was underestimated, and I can only assume that the trails have not been checked for a while as the topography of some had changed. However, most instructions were good and we got to see the surrounding valleys in detail. The accommodation at both places was of a good standard and nice and quirky. Breakfasts were great, but lunches were a little unimaginative (cheese roll or cheese roll). Transfers were all on time, but we were a little uncertain on our final transfer to Nevsehir when we were dropped in a nearby town (Urgup) and told that a shuttle would be along. It did come, but we didn't know what or who we were looking for! Evening meals were good, but we did feel that, in Goreme, although the Anatolian Kitchen had good food, there were so many interesting restaurants, we would rather have not paid for our evening meal in advance and had the choice of where to go. On the whole we had a great time!

Requesting full holiday payment (£2K) just to investigate if there's availability...

I enquired about a holiday and got a good initial response, albeit saying those dates weren't available. I asked for alternative dates but my emails didn't get a response for quite a while and needed chasing. Eventually I was told those dates were 'looking tricky' but if I paid the full balance of the holiday (over £2K) they would see if it was possible. No way! The likes of Macs and Inntravel only ask for around £150 to confirm the details. Will be travelling with one of them instead.

We are sorry you were dissatisfied with our booking procedure and opted not to book with us. Unlike chartered tours for fixed dates, for which allocations of accommodation and local services are pre-arranged, our clients have the facility and flexibility to request specific dates for their desired departure. Therefore, our tours are exclusive products, tailored to our clients' preferred dates and preferences. For this reason, our tours are booked on a request basis, as we must check the availability of all operational components before guaranteeing a departure. Typically, we would only require a deposit to begin this process, which usually takes only a few days; however, in the case of a departure such as yours commencing under 42 days, we would require the full tour balance. These monies are required upfront as payments must be made to our local partners to guarantee their availability and services for a select date. Should the desired dates not have been available to secure, all monies paid would have been immediately refunded. We feel obliged to highlight that this booking procedure is also a common practice by other operators for similar reasons. With respect to communication, our sales team followed up with you the same day to check whether you had flexibility on your dates; however, unfortunately, your response was not received until a week later, by which time your new dates were to commence under 42 days. Our booking process is outlined in our terms and conditions, and our sales team also explained it to you. Nevertheless, we are sorry if you considered our booking process to be inflexible, and regret you remain dissatisfied. We wish you all the best. The Natural Adventure Team

TMB. This is a late review for our self…

This is a late review for our self guided trekking Tour Mont Blanc in comfort trip in June 2023. Our group consisted of three couples at various level of physical condition and hiking experiences, so I asked TNA agent to add extra days in the middle for break and pre-booked private shuttle to lodging on long trekking days. I used to prepare detailed itineraries and options for all my trip, so I was quite anxious for this group going on a new adventure in this new way the first with the worries of what could happen. About a week prior our departure, TNA sent over a detail package of information about the trekking as they promised and answered a few questions I had. It turned out all went as TNA had planned from the moment we arrived to the end of the trip. We had blast time experiencing TMB.
