Excellent Service

Absolutely delighted with the restoration of a very well used and travelled Paul Smith fabric and leather holdall. The colours were brought back to life and the leather restored to an impeccable standard. Excellent customer service too.

Ruined my Gucci bag

Ruined my Gucci bag - I sent my Gucci bag to be cleaned and have the taupe trim restored. The bag was cleaned well but the taupe patent trim was restored to a dark yellow colour which looks awful. Further more the patent straps have been blistered - I assume during the cleaning process. When I raised this following receiving my bag, I received an unhelpful reply 4 days later telling me my bag strap was yellow to start with! Have been quoted £395 by the handbag clinic to replace the damage that has been caused to the straps and trim. Would not recommend.

Much loved Alexander McQueen back to original glory!

I received my beloved Alexander McQueen bag back today. It is fabulous, and I am delighted! After 11 + years of much use (and little care!), she was looking pretty tired. The piping on the bottom edges had worn and the strap holders needed some attention too as well as one that needed to be fully replaced. I am absolutely made up with the quality of the refurb that The Handbag Spa has done. Thank you very much.

Great Handbag Restoration Course

I attended the 4-day Handbag Restoration Course taught by Judy in June 2025. I was very pleased with my experience and I'm so glad I attended. I learned so much in a short space of time and appreciated Judy's excellent pacing of the course, the course materials, and the way she teaches. We had plenty of hands-on time, well balanced with deep background knowledge about leather, and the entire process, so we could walk away understanding how to carry out this work on our own. I would have liked a 5th day just to practice, but I completely understand that 4 days is a good amount of time for learning, so as not to get overwhelmed. I bought the starter kit and have been working on honing my restoration skills at home in order to resell designer bags. I really enjoy the work and hope to continue learning and improving. Thank you to Judy and the team!

The leather handbag restoration course…

The leather handbag restoration course I had was very well organised and explained. I had the chance to practice more at home and I feel the difference of knowledge I needed to succeed in some aspects of repair. I also do appreciate that Julie is available for further questions I may have after the course and this has an incredible value for me that I am still navigating in this fascinating world. Thank you so much Julie!

Fantastic touch up pen

I ordered a touch up pen in oak for my Mulberry. It arrived very quickly, made to order, and my bag is now good as new! Absolutely perfect colour match, thank you.

They have completely RUINED two…

They have completely RUINED two mulberry bags - please please do not use this company. They look like they have been painted over, not restored and one is a totally different colour. I am utterly appalled at the standard of workmanship and the bags are unusable.

Thank you for your review which we take very seriously.
We are so very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the work we have carried out for you and that we have not met your expectations.

Where handbags arrive in a very worn and damaged condition and require repair work they do need to be refinished as part of the restoration process. The finishes used are specialist ones (not paint) used for restoration work and used by Mulberry themselves in their workshops.
We match to the original Mulberry colours that are evident on the interior of the handbag which we do not touch during the process.

The colour we used matched the original colour of the strap leather as shown in the photo you sent us for an estimate and on the original Mulberry tab inside the handbag.

As explained in our Terms and Conditions, restored leather may lose some of its original 'feel' but we do try to keep this to the minimum. The amount of restoration required is directly governed by the original condition of the leather when sent to us. In the case of your handbags this was quite extensive. The leather does soften up again with use.

We have restored 1000's of Mulberry handbags successfully using the methods and products we used on your handbags, we teach Mulberry technicians and supply products to Mulberry for use in their workshops.

They ruined my Gucci handbag

May bag was booked in for the 3rd of November for the logo to be regilded. Once they had my bag they emailed to say they were going to decide IF it was suitable for regilding despite them having previously assured me that it could be done. Then for over a month they ignored my ever increasingly annoyed emails. I tried many times to ring them and got call minder. Finally I got to speak to Sarah who assured me that the bag was ready - they were waiting for a part for the guilding machine. She just needed me to pay the £295 invoice - which I did immediately. Still nothing. When my sister phoned she told her that it was going to be done that week. I emailed and asked why she had lied to me - no reply as usual. The bag was finally returned today 12th December. The gilding if awful and rough, terrible finish, different colour and they have only gilded the front when it is easy to take off the whole logo. I am so disappointed and angry. I have photos. The service was terrible, communication either non existent or a lie. I am now talking to Gucci about how to solve this problem they have created.

Did a good job, but poor communication

Sent off my Mulberry Alexa for a refresh - it has been really well used and then lived at the back of the closet so was fairly sad looking. Looks good now. Communication was quick when I got in touch, but it felt like I had to do a lot of chasing to find stuff out. Saw on their Instagram my bag had been used in one of their restoration workshops, so although it was worked on under supervision I would have liked the option to opt in or out of that, or get a discount (like you would for getting your hair done by a trainee!). They did a good job, but I wouldn't use the service again or recommend to others based on this.

By way of an explanations the only part of your restoration work that was done on our course was the cleaning (as shown) as we wanted a great example to teach this on. A bit like having your hair washed by a junior!
It was as you say closely supervised at all times by our Director.

The rest of the restoration work was carried out by one of our highly experienced technicians who I’m sure you will agree did a great job of bringing it back to life.

We appreciate your feedback regarding communication and this will be passed back to the team.
Certain processes (such as mould) sometimes do take longer as the spores have to be killed before any other work can take place and we have to be careful about cross contamination so apologies if this was not communicated effectively.

We do hope you will use us again.

Wonderful experience from start to…

Wonderful experience from start to finish!!! Sarah was so helpful.
I ordered a pen for the corners of my Mulberry Lily, I wasn’t sure of the exact colour. Sarah paused my order and suggested I send off the leather padlock strap so they could assess the colour. The Handbag Spa then made a pen to match perfectly. It arrived beautifully packaged and my bag looks like new. Really impressed, fantastic!!

Very happy with the outcome.

The Handbag Spa repaired my wife’s Prada handbag. It had some wear & tear on the corners and the inside lining need some TLC.

The bag has been given a new lease of life, you’d never know the exterior was repaired and the inside is perfect - there was one stained I was convinced they’d never get rid of but it’s looking great!

The whole process of booking it in, the courier pick up and communication was low stress. Took a few weeks but well worth the wait for good craftsmanship.

Would recommend.

Restored Bag

From enquiry to complete restoration of my bag , service was excellent and speedy replies to any enquiries. Delivery was excellent ,packaging was exceptional and bag was well protected.My bag was restored as if it was new , would advise anyone to use this company.

Awful company

Awful company! I sent my YSL bag in for repair as a thoughtful gift from my partner after a very tough year following the loss of our baby. I was so excited to have my beloved handbag restored, but the experience has been nothing but disappointing. The repair didn’t even last a couple of months — it came back looking worse than before. The strap is peeling, the paint is worn, and the strap has even fallen off completely. Truly unacceptable service.

***EDIT- Response from company sums up their rudeness and no accountability! They have not offered anything to resolve it and just said there’s nothing they can do! LYERS!
They clearly think it’s acceptable to make customers wait weeks to receive their orders. Lots of orher reviews saying the same! Stay away from these cowboys.
EDIT - please say what solution you offered? You are completely lying!

We are very sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the service you have received and that this did not match the thousands of orders we have dispatched over the past 25 years worldwide with no issues.

The delivery options on our website are very clear at the checkout together with the options for selecting a tracked or non tracked service.
You clearly selected a non tracked service and so your order was sent accordingly - this means that no tracking information is available to us.
Unfortunately it appears that Royal Mail have not delivered your order in a timely manner and for this we apologise on their behalf.
We have tried all day to resolve this issue with you but unfortunately we have been met with your refusal to cooperate.
Our staff have been professional at all times in trying to deal with this.

We have offered a solution but this was rejected and we have certainly never said there is nothing we can do.
We always work with customers to find a solution in the rare event that we have an issue.

Truly exceptional

Truly exceptional! I am beyond happy with the whole experience with Handbag Spa. Sarah is very helpful and professional. Most of all the work to restore the bottom and top corners of my Lady Dior bag was nothing short of trickery! Just amazing. Thank you.

My Chanel bag was literally so dirty…

My Chanel bag was literally so dirty from my daughter using it in bars etc.. you get the picture. Plus it was cream coloured and yes why did I let her use it but onto the recommendation .. the handbag spa did such an amazing job looks like a new bag ! I am beyond happy .. only downside is it’s not as supple anymore but now I can use it .. fully recommend !
