Dreadful website and badly run venue
The concert itself, the Alice Cooper book launch, was fantastic. He was witty and very entertaining, and the event lasted a couple of hours. The staff inside the venue were also great and very helpful.
However, the venue itself is very dark and gloomy and they have the worst signage (or lack of!) that I have ever seen. Their online site is totally useless, and the app they make you download to access your tickets (totally unnecessarily as the tickets come through the AXS app) is nothing more than a data mining tool.
Firstly we never saw or found out the start time of the show. Online it basically said "Doors open at 6.30pm work it our for yourself". I spoke to other people there, and they couldn't find a start time either.
The security people went through my small handbag twice (two different people!) while I stood in the rain, and then I was "wanded", as though I was smuggling cocaine at an airport! They didn't do that to anyone else I saw. I am in my 60s with mobility issues.
The signage inside for the toilets nearly sent me back outside into the rain again! I had to ask an usher, and they sent me to an unmarked door in the auditorium.
The app states they do food and drinks, snacks, and some hot food. We never even found the bar until we were leaving, and then my husband found it - basically a flap in a cupboard, and he only saw that because it was by the gents' toilet.
The auditorium is very dark and miserable, and we couldn't see any block numbers, row numbers or seat numbers, so again an usher helped us find our seats. The seats are tiny and move about, and fortunately I was on an aisle as I couldn't even get my legs into the space, and I'm average height. My friend who is 6'5" would be folded in half!
Finally when we went back to the car park opposite (oh, and Wolverhampton have no concessions for blue badge holders) we couldn't find the entrance to the car park, and I pointlessly climbed 2 flights of steps and ended-up by the Civic Centre. We eventually followed other people, and found the entrance hidden behind a wall with no signage.
To cap it all, they have sent me a survey about my visit, and although it has a page of details about a prize draw I will be entered in, there is no survey attached! I asked their "bot", and it said "There is no Alice Cooper survey"! I won't be hurrying back.
