My daughter had arranged her wedding reception at the Elgin. The team and the venue went above and beyond.

There were multiple different detailed requests for the day and also for storage of items beforehand. The team could not be more supportive.

On the day itself everything ran on rails. Every team member couldn’t do enough for us and the approach added to the success of the day and dialled down any anxiety.

Food was fantastic but the staff were more than incompetent and totally out of their depth. They kind of gave up and didn’t seem even interested in making us feel like valued customers. We were rushed into ordering even though we asked for a minute to give presents to the guest of honour. We couldn’t hear ourselves think against the loud awful playlist that competed with the live music downstairs. We waited an eternity for our drinks and nibbles even though we were rushed into ordering and told them we were starving. We were also overcharged. We were handed a pot of olives we’d ordered for the table with only 3 toothpicks. Staff looked affronted when we asked if we could have a toothpick each. We were also given the same response when we asked for condiments. We were left with dirty dishes on the table for 30 mins until I cleared the table and put the dirty dishes on the bar. There was no apology or accountability or customer care whatsoever. It was the most unwelcoming, overpriced meal I’ve had in forever. The staff were more interested in talking to their mates. They were passive aggressive rather than rude. I think because they were out of their depth. When I tried to mention that all these things could be better the young lady literally looked through me and blanked me. It was as if I’d never said anything. Appalling lack of accountability. Also extra charges on the bill that we had to dispute. Embarrassing on a birthday outing! Will never go back even though the food was tasty.
