We have been regular customers of the cornish bakery but on April 18th we visited there cafe in Sidmouth and the pastys were a third smaller than usual and the only meat content was a lump of grisal on pointing this out to the staff i was told to contact head office this i did and got fobbed off saying i was a liar This response has left me very upset and i will never use them again. So beware if you want a decent pasty dont go to the cornish bakery as you will very dissapointed.

Food and coffee was nice

Food and coffee was nice, however some of the tables were a little messy and not cleared straight away. We were sat by the kitchen and was watching the chap cutting the tomatoes and onions and dealing with other food he had on thin gloves but was texting and using his phone and then touching the food is this not a bit un hygienic I though so. Other than that quite a nice place for a quick snack

The cornish bakeries gone down hill.

I don't usually review places but ive come to The Cornish Bakery South Wold multiple times and don't get me wrong when I first started coming the atmosphere was great and the service was really good. But today I have to say I was really disappointed I brought a selection of bakery items and three drinks. The food was delicious but I was appaled with the drinks the strawberry milkshake and pink lemonade had a really disgusting syrup in them and were heavily overpriced. The coffee was TINY and hardly hot. But I could of overlooked all of this but the way the staff treated their customers was appalling their wasn't a smile in the place they were sharp, no please or thank you and were really patronising with the other customers when they tried to pay with cash. I will not be coming again.

Underwhelming…

Really liked the look of their products but regrettably they didn’t live up to expectations. Hardly any Brie in the dry Brie & Cranberry brioche. Pretty tasteless bred pudding. Not much filling in the apple rhubarb and custard pastry which was dry with too much pastry. And they don’t take cash

The food and service were outstanding.

The food and service were outstanding.
The fruit pastie and fruit scone, delicious.
Nothing too much trouble. Even pouring cream for the pastie. Not on the menu, however when custard was requested, cream was offered as an available alternative option.
Great place to take the weight off for afternoon tea. Gloucester Quays

Overpriced for a dry pasty

Overpriced for a dry pasty. Always chaotic service and have to wait ages. Staff are friendly though even though they run like headless chickens. Coffee very good.

The best coffee shop in Dorchester

The best coffee shop in Dorchester. Mike and the team always are very welcoming and deliver a great service every time. Lovely cakes and pastries too. Wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else for coffee!

Norwich cleanliness issue

Visited Norwich branch for first time. Staff seemed friendly, but didn't look very happy, coffee overpriced and bitter. Ordered black americano and a mocha.

Worst was the state of the shop. Were there about 45 minutes at mid afternoon and at no time were any tables wiped down. Had to do this ourselves. Floors hadn't been swept and were sticky. Wasn't so busy that these things couldn't be done. Crumbs were built up on the floor around the edges of the counters and furniture.

Bathroom had standing water under dryer and sink.

People seemed to be enjoying the food, but won't be attending again.

Ordered online 8 large Frozen traditional pasties on Feb 5th. 2024
Arrived 2 days later in packaging I would only describe as a work of art. All 8 were still froze solid so straight into the home freezer.
Cooked my first one the following day..Wow it really took me back to my MUCH younger days when holidays in Devon & Cornwall were a regular treat. The traditional pasty was fabulous and VERY filling, no need for any extras on the plate. Cooking time was about 1hr ish ( until a lovely brown crust
had appeared. For me these are a real treat and they will last at least 3 months in the freezer. Looking forward to Tomorrow!
Thanks guys..

Just visited Stamford branch at 16.30 and told no hot drinks or sit in service as they had switched everything off and done the last pot wash. Questioned why as they shut at 17.00 and just told sorry there’s nothing they can do. Absolutely disgusting!!! Chairs and tables also packed away.

Incredibly overpriced on just about everything. Seems to be geared up more so for visitors. They also refuse to take cash, on the written note near the tills it states that it's takes longer using cash yet I've seen their excuses of distance to banks within these poor ratings. Well most other small businesses manage to still use cash! Will not use again.
