It was so refreshing to receive a reminder in the post that my contract needed renewing & to actually dial the number given & get through to a real person. Well done Talk Talk. UPDATE I am now real... See more

Unparalleled awfulness in every respect. A masterclass in how to alienate customers. The worst customer service you will ever have the misery to experience—every time, all the time. Avoid at all costs.

I managed just under 2 weeks with Talk Talk. Everything has been slow and awkward at best, utterly ineffectual, sloppy and rude at worst. I have seen nature programmes where injured baby wildebeest have put up more spirited fights for their own survival than this company.
During the set up they told me I couldn't use one of my email addresses (literally my name and a number at the provider. Com) so had to use another that I keep for personal emails, weird cagey reasons given for this but nothing clear that I understood. It took ages for the modem to arrive despite the person I spoke to during set up promising he would "prioritise" us.
Then I couldn't log into my account after we did recieve the modem, working in tech it appeared to be a bug, so I tried to report it. None of the options seemed to work, so I tried to speak to someone, the phone service took me round the houses and to a line recommending I call the number I had called before hanging up on me.
I called back, managed to speak to a person, they transfered me to that same dead end line.
Used the online chat, went through the AI helper which really struggled with basic questions (again, I work in tech, I have experience using these sort of things and speaking their language).
The first real person I chatted with asked what the problem was, I explained, they said they would try and assist. They asked what the problem was, I explained again, they promised to do everything they could to help... and asked what the problem was. I lost my temper a bit and told them to re-read my previous messages (The issue, I remind you, was that I couldn't log into my account and the attempts to change that were taking me back to the beginning of the process and not sending me any emails etc).
I will note at this point also, that the help service was busy so I was getting 10-15 minute gaps between questions.
It was so a painfully slow process that the person's shift ended and I spoke to someone else. I explained the situation, they promised to help me, they vanished after 15 minutes and I was assigned to another person.
I couldn't help but being a little rude to this person, I did apologise, but at this point I had been using the chat for 2 and a half hours. I told the third guy to forget about it and I would cancel the service instead.
All they had to do was give me an idea of what they were doing, I wasnt asking for miracles, just to know what was happening.
I called their helpline to speak to someone on their customer exit line, they didn't try to help, just sort of agreed with me weakly and acted this was like every call they took and there was nothing to be done about customer retention.
I went away and found a new service known for its customer service reputation. Basically the same price as Talk Talk.
Called their customer exit line again to confirm I was leaving. Spoke to a reception line that said someone from customer retention would call me back in two hours. My wife and I laughed so hard at this, the service was this anaemic, this feeble, that this company couldn't even put up a fight to save its own sale. It was embarrassingly weak, a tepid company all round, about 2 and a half hours later someone called and asked if I was interested in hearing reasons to stay with Talk Talk, I said yes. He asked why I was leaving, I explained and he had nothing to say to me so rolled over and left the call, thus ending my shortest and most feckless experience with an internet provider of my entire life.
On the plus side, the internet seemed to work for the ten odd days we had it for (not including the 10 odd days it took for out modem to arrive).
Also, I will commend the company for having a 2 week cooling period from recieving the hardware, as they are so slow getting it to you that the 2 week period would run out before you got internet access otherwise.
Dealing with Talk Talk had been like watching a man crawl on his stomach following a lethal gunshot wound to try and get to the hospital but the whole time he was crawling in completely the wrong direction despite my best efforts to tell him otherwise.

Terrible service. Live in Reading area, CityFibre was the only option before Openreach put in fibre went with talk talk as choice was limited. Locked into a 2 year contract it was the worst decision everi as their customer service is non existent. Many issues at start but now we have a fault, told is an external issue and talk talk would sort it out, 2 weeks of lies saying engineer will be with you tomorrow then not turning , or saying someone will call back and never do. After FIVE appointments missed it has left us with no option but to leave talk talk and find a company on Openreach system . We haven’t been able to download any tv for weeks and enough is enough.

Been with the company for years, started with them back when it was Lineone then Tiscali. Was always impressed with them but that’s gone completely out of the window this year. Renewed my contract and then every month the bill was wrong. Spent hours online trying to resolve the issues but each month it got worse. So I’ve raised a complaint and nothing happened so I registered it with CISAS who have agreed to process the complaint. Will be leaving TalkTalk once CISAS advise on the outcome of the matter. Their customer service team is rubbish and they ask you to ring them and then you get sent a text message that only takes you to an online chat. You then spend hours waiting for them to respond and then not deal with the issue.

Contacted talktalkheretohelp requesting that my 95yr old mother in law’s home telephone contract be cancelled as she has been in hospital since 19/3/26 (18 weeks).
Although I am registered with talk talk to deal with my mother in laws account they required to speak to her.
I explained that the account holder is receiving end of life treatment and could not speak to them.
Talk talk then required a letter of proof from the hospital which I declined to provide as the hospital is busy enough.
My wife has power of attorney for her mum,
But still talktalk request information about the account which has been provided but still they won’t cancel the house phone contract.
I’m now going to cancel the direct debit and I’ve given my name and address for a final bill.
Talktalkhereto help is not fit for purpose.

Truly awful Kafka esque customer service. Just avoid even if they happen to have a slightly cheaper offer - they'll just bite back with their terrible service.
I was errorneously charged £75 for an Engineer visit. Upon reaching out to TalkTalk on numerous occasions I was told this would be credited to my account within 3 days.
At this point I simply gave up. My time was not worth the literal hours I had spent trying to have this processed and they would just keep passing me on to another department like some surreal joke.
Fast forward a year and upon trying to cancel my account I was told I needed to pay a hefty cancellation fee. I mentioned the £75 credit I never received and suggested they deduct this from the cancellation fee...
I wish I didnt bother. As I type this review ive been chatting to Talk Talk for over 2 hours, once again passed through the departments as they attempt to credit my account (they cant deduct it from the cancellation fee) and im onto my 5th agent. Each time I need to explain the situation again.
I doubt ill get the refund and at this stage im just relieved to cancel so I dont have to waste any more time.

I have (had) a Lineone email account for the past 27 years. Within the terms of the contract I enjoyed the following, quote: '‘You are one of the first to benefit from our new free for life offer, only available to selected customers’ ‘You’ll get LineOne Free for Life’. And: ‘you’ll NEVER pay a membership fee’.
Talktalk purchased the company that created LineOne and wanted to charge £50 pa to keep my email address running. I refused and since then they have closed my email account. Flouting the agreed T&Cs.
No other provider is as greedy as this. It took a huge amount of time to reorganise my online accounts. I expect I am not the only person affected and therefore I would support a class action against this company.
I will never use them for anything else and have since closed other family accounts If you change suppliers from this shoddy company you will loose your email address!
I welcome comments from Taltalk

I am so pleased with how TalkTalk handled my query. I emailed them yesterday about an incorrect charge, and got a call from Angela today.
Angela had already read all my messages and knew the full situation right away — I didn’t need to explain anything again.
She started with a sincere apology, then clearly told me the charge would be cancelled, with no unnecessary delays or extra questions.
It was so refreshing to be dealt with so honestly and efficiently. The whole issue was resolved in less than 24 hours.
Thank you so much Angela — wonderful customer care!👍👍🌹🌹

Thieves. Never ever sign up with them. Customer support can't speak English. They shouldn't exist.

Total inability to supply a replacement router following an electrical storm!
A continued lack of responsiveness and awareness of customer services to repeated enquiries regarding my difficulty!
Hidebound by THEIR OWN regulations which is more about them than their customers

Why does talk talk not tell you if you need a upgrade to a device they provide. Today when I tried to put the TV box on it would not turn on. I tried new batteries for the remote, restarting the TV box and unplugged the wires from the device. Which had no effect. When I rang talk talk I was thinking told they do not have staff working on Sunday who may be able to help. I probably need a new box as they have upgraded their devices and not told their customers that they might need a new TV box. I now need to ring on Monday to try to fix the device or arrange for a new device to be delivered.
I rang talktalk on Monday morning and had to speak to 3 different people 2 kept saying I was asking for a new tv package i said no i wanted a working tv box. I eventually got transferred to the right department and had to let them video call to see that the box would not turn on and the cable were connected before they eventually agreed to sending me a new working tv box.

Absolutely terrible Customer Service.
In my opinion and experience of interacting with TalkTalk I will never ever choose them again
Their Customer Service is staffed by people who speak poor English, who take over an hour to answer a simple query by keeping you on the phone and asking ridiculous questions, running multiple uneccesary tests, and making crazy suggestions.
Customer Service has gone massively downhill, ByeBye TalkTalk 👋
Edit: looking at the massive string of 1 star reviews below I suggest instead of getting 'Jos' to reply to them all with a script, that TalkTalk actually try to improve as they watch the Telecoms market slip through their fingers.
TalkTalk once had a really good market position which now seems to have gone to shit if their current 2 star status from over 89000 customers and ex customers is anything to go by.
Personally I don't think it will be long till it's 1 star.
Catch you later 'Jos'

Above ridiculous you can't get hold of anyone to report a problem eventually when you get to report it there is no one to talk to and they give you no more information just the incident is open never known anything like like it. It feels like you just don't care to them. Such a poor service.

Been with Talktalk 20 months,18 of which was in contract. Just recently had issues with speed and dropouts. Been relatively consistent over the last 16 months. Had no real issues. Then came end of contract, didn't signup for another 18 months as I was weighing up my options for full fiber to come on line in my area. Coincidence or not, the Internet speed dropped well below the guaranteed minimum limit as advertised. Contacted Talktalk via their WiFi test app to resolve issue. That was over 2 weeks ago. Still unresolved. As a result , I signed up with another provider as I seem to be getting no resolution to my problem. Had heard how bad Talk Talktalk was before signing up with them, gave them the benefit of the doubt. I have now lived to REGRET that decision. Customer service is appalling. Passed from one agent to another for over an hour to resolve a technical issue and ended with an agent from the Loyalty retention team. That doesn't solve my speed and reliability issue in the mean time before my switchover to new provider. Paid for service and not getting it is not good . Beware!! You have been warned about this company. Look elsewhere.

This is just a racket masquerading as an internet provider ( STAY AWAY) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. BT IS MILES AHEAD OF THIS OUTFIT.

Do not trust this company. I was previously a customer, several years ago. Suddenly they created a DD on my account and started charging me when I do not have a service, I don’t even live in the same house that they claim a service started at. I have emailed customer service, no response, I have tried their online chat, does not work. They kept my personal details over 2 years after they needed them (GDPR violation) then used my historical data to fraudulently create a new DD on my bank account. Mailing gets a response, we will respond in 72 hours but they do not.
I understand errors happen and perhaps they have an explanation, but the non-response pretty much confirms they are a Company to be avoided. No doubt I, or my bank fraud squad, or an ombudsman, will eventually sort this out but it is super frustrating, time consuming and unprofessional of TalkTalk.
I strongly suggest you avoid the company and prevent finding yourself in my shoes.
Update on 19 August… Despite providing what TalkTalk requested and a promise to investigate (2 weeks ago) I have heard nothing more until another demand for further payment for the non-existent service. Shockingly poor customer service and evidently a very poorly operated business.
