We had a great holiday in lovely accomodation and a beautiful setting.

We had been to the cottage at South Milton on one previous occasion, so we were well informed on the provisions there. Nonetheless the information on your website was up-to-date, and the booking system is very straightforward. The payment reminder is appreciated, and the whole information and booking system is easy to use.

Reading the reviews (after our trip!) it’s clear that your trip could be a hit or miss. If everything about the property is perfect, then great. But and it’s a big but, when there’s issues, that’s where the failures are in this company. As a host myself, I know there’s times that things can go a little wrong which is out of your control but it’s all about how you deal with it and caring about your guests. With Sykes, things don’t get dealt with, you can’t speak to anyone and if you do, it’s such an impersonal response. This is inexcusable when you’ve paid a lot of money for a holiday and they couldn’t care less. With our issue - a decaying dead pigeon outside a bedroom meant this room was unusable - the stink was horrendous. The carcass was in an area that we couldn’t access to remove it (at the bottom of an enclosed alcove and we were in a flat on level 2) but the property manager could have done and they could have put preventative measures to discourage the roosting pigeons that were causing a filthy and unhygienic mess in the first place - the response we got was “outside the boundary of the property not our problem”. Actually, it was on the boundary.
Like I say, it’s hit & miss, probably depends on who owns the property - it seems lots of people have positive experiences - you just won’t read about the ones that don’t as they won’t get published on their website it seems.
I think Airbnb is a safer bet as they publish all reviews.

It was fine except for the bad stench of rotting carcass

A quirky layout with kitchens both upstairs and down. Crockery and cutlery needed washing again before it could be used on the first evening.
No dishwasher but three washing machines, and three fridge/freezers!
No instructions on rubbish disposal and recycling.
On the plus side great outdoor facilities and hot tub, and good location for zoo and city centre access. Great local pubs - Huxley Arms.
We had a great time but with a little more care and attention it could have been so much better.

Used sykes a few times now and never been disappointed. Just stayed in a beautiful cottage in the Cotswolds.

General dirty accommodation. Needs upgrade.

Excellent cottage overlooking the Leeds Liverpool Canal. A very comfortable, well equipped cottage with spacious rooms and extra facilities including sauna and hot tub. Well located for visiting numerous villages and attractions. The owners lived nearby and were very responsive to and speedily adressed any enquiry we had. Highly recommended.

We went on holiday last week and had issues, we contacted owner and Sykes but have continued to be ignored by Sykes and I’m unable to contact owner again now. The caravan was messy and falling apart, we also had no hot water for days. I’ve complained to them but hear nothing back. My first and last time I will use them. Stay clear!

Fabulous home from home. We really appreciated the little touches like a fresh cake and slow gin , delish !
The hot tub was used every day and it it was such a quiet restful location.
Can’t wait to go again !

It was a very easy booking process. Good reminders about the balance being due. Excellent emails confirming payments and explaining how to get to the property and how to access it and who to contact if necessary. The property matched the description and it was well cleaned before we arrived. Good information pack in the property from Sykes. The Barn at Longframlington is a luxury property and in an excellent location for visiting the area.

The caravan was disgusting been back 13 days tried phoning 6times no sign of my deposit

Sykes is 5 stars, the property we stopped at, is not. It's location was excellent but there were a few issues we've listed in the property review
