Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 423 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people expressed significant dissatisfaction with the customer service, describing it as unhelpful, automated, and difficult to reach a real person. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with the refund process, citing rigid policies and a refusal to issue refunds even for unplayable games or gift purchases that didn't work as expected. The website was also a source of frustration, with users reporting problems with functionality and issues with information provided. Some people were dissatisfied with product-related issues, such as games not working or being unplayable, and difficulties with game downloads. Conversely, a small portion of people were satisfied with the platform, praising its extensive game library, frequent sales, and community features. These customers also highlighted good security and, in some cases, positive experiences with customer support regarding refunds or technical solutions.

SUPER TOXIC COMMUNITY BOARDS! THE MOST TOXIC I HAVE EVER EXPERIANCED!

The interface is good and the general process for gaming is not bad. However the community/discussion boards are super TOXIC! The Moderators are players who become appointed as Moderators who then proceed to bully rather than maintain civility on the boards. With this normalisation of very Toxic behaviour from moderators like RYU and others. An example would be that if you ask a question on a board about an issue that pops up during gameplay and that question receives responses from toxic posters who live on the boards only to Troll the hell out of any discussions with unhelpful sarcastic trolling comments. If you then tell them they are not welcome you get Banned. The moderators than gather around and ban you from other boards without justification. A super Toxic community perused by little Chuds bullying people. AVOID AT AT ALL COSTS!

Steam employs political leftists for moderation

Steam employs political leftists for moderation, and they have been targeting me over more than a decade. i can't speak my mind, or my basic rights on steam will be taken away. if i could give 0 stars, i would. i have no recourse against the sociopaths they employ, steam support only gives auto-responses and hide behind the rules, which they unevenly apply because they are leftist partisans. this all started with the outside obligation to have a trust & safety team, through which leftist partisans infect and undermine companies, and torment their users without reason. this was my last resort, and now they have effectively banished me from the internet.

the moderation on steam is the worst ever

the moderation on steam is the absolute worst i have witnessed in my entire life....

you can tell the abuse of power is very real with these sociopathic moderators on steam. they enable bullying and harassment on a daily basis and constantly shield offenders while they happily censor paying customers for genuine feedback.

i have had so many bad experiences with the support and moderators on steam i could cry

geometry is dashing

geometry is dashing, titans are falling steam is the most goated gaming company ever, yes valve might lack support for their own games, but you cant put anything on steam, yall telling me every single season of the year, they make a sale, where literally everyone benefits, me having only 100$ on my account being able to buy more then 30 games just beacause of one single winter sale is some other level of winning a lottery. Being able to refund games and your account basically cant get stolen due to one if not the best support system ever. Theres nothing bad i can put on steam, all these people writing bad reviews are complaining, about them not being able to follow steam guidelines which they so not obviously i guess keep in the open, and literally everyone knows about the 2 hours 12 days refund rule.

Amazing service for PC gaming, but customer support is overall lacking

Customer support is overall lacking, and somewhat disappointing.

The service itself is fantastic and Steam is the best place to play PC games.

They beat the competition by being honest and really just doing nothing to screw over the customer, while Sony/Playstation and Microsoft/Xbox burn down their own fortresses.

Valve being a private company and not being pressured by shareholders is probably the best move they ever made and has likely been what has kept them afloat all these years. Let's hope that stays the case in the coming decades.

4/5 due to poor customer service and promoting gambling to teens and children.

Very poor account security.

After lodging a complaint through Steam customer service and receiving an abusive response from one of their customer service agents, I attempted to escalate to somebody higher up. I then laid a complaint about that agent and left it at that. Around a month later my Steam login stopped working and I discovered my entire account (along with a decades-old games collection) had been deleted (not closed, not suspended... deleted). I requested help from Steam support who told me a request had come through for account deletion despite the fact that I didn't request anything of the sort. I suspect the deletion was queued by the agent I complained about, but naturally I couldn't prove it and none of the agents I corresponded with could confirm or deny. Even after escalating further I was told the account was gone and couldn't be recovered. All I received was an apology for 'the inconvenience'). I can't trust Valve or Steam ever again with my account information if its that simple for an account to be deleted without my security information being requested and confirmed by me. You'd think a reputable company would have taken such an incident more seriously.

A great platform for buying games

A great platform for buying games. The bad part is that platforms like this forger they grew and made millions thanks to their users - and then they start blocking users inventories, basically stealing money from the very people who made them succesful.

Game Always Crashes, No Refund Accepted

I can’t even properly play this game. NBA 2K26 has crashed every single time I’ve opened it. I managed to get into the game twice, and both times it crashed shortly after, making it completely unplayable.

I’ve tried launching it multiple times and the result is the same — crash on startup or shortly after. This isn’t a “minor bug” or performance issue, the game straight up does not work on my system.

What makes this worse is Steam refusing a refund despite the fact that the game is essentially broken and I have barely any actual playtime. Paying full price for a game that won’t run is unacceptable.

Until stability issues are fixed, I can’t recommend this to anyone. If you’re thinking about buying on PC, be careful — you might not even be able to play it.

Poor servers and customer service.

I'm purchasing games on the Steam store, and the downloads are very intermittent. I have a 1Gbps symmetrical connection, a current-gen system, and I'm also a senior technical expert for a telecomm company, but Steam tells me that the issue is not on their end, but it's my network. I have no such issues with Riot, Epic, or general downloads from any server. I have recreated the issue on 3 systems, 3 networks, and 2 separate accounts, yet Steam insists it's on my end.
