Sentinel has just become terrible to work with, long hold times and then when you get on a call after the long hold the calls drop (happened frequently)and they don't call you back! Especially when s... See more

Good GoTo company

Had a last minute where do we put this roll over money moment and Sentinel Security was there. Trouble with faxing the roll over forms but that could have been trouble at the other end. Overall, happy with my experience.

Young service people but willing to learn and usually can help

I have been writing Sentinel for about 6 months and have been an agent for almost 14 years. It is nice that I can talk to a real person. Unlike other carriers they are not treat me like I don't what I am talking about. They are usually young but willing to listen and most of the times can resolve my problem.

Premium Increase Information and Pay In Advance

POINT 1 - As an agent I like to let my clients know when they are going to get a Med Supp rate increase so that they know that I'm on top of things. There doesn't seem to be a consistent algorithm for the effective date of these increases. On more than one occasion I have had two or more clients with the same anniversary dates, but with different effective dates for new premium rates. When I call Sentinel for clarification, the rep can't tell me why a rate increase for one person will go into effect the next month, but the rate increase for the other person will go into effect the following month. The Agent Portal should be enhanced to show (a) the current premium amount, (b) the future premium amount, and (c) the effective date of that future premium amount. This would serve agents nicely, and it would save a lot of phone time for agent support reps at Sentinel.
POINT 2 - Sentinel is the only company I work with that requires premiums to be taken in advance, if the ACH date is not the first of the month. For example, if a client wants her ACH withdrawal on the 15th of the month, she must pay that premium a month in advance. Sentinel should allow that client to have her withdrawal on the 15th of the month, for coverage of the current month.
SUMMARY - Except for these two issues, as an agent and as a Med Supp policy holder, Sentinel is my favorite company.
