Dont waste your money

I bought snooper xl biggest money waste ever. They state it picks up gatso, speed vans, variable speed cameras the whole shebang. It only picks up what's already programmed into it. Never trust this piece of 💩.

Has anyone used an SC 5900?

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of the Snooper SC5900? I am asking on some different sites because I am having a problem regarding the one I bought a few weeks ago. When I get feedback from others who have used one of these and whichever way mine ends up I will post an update here. I am hoping I can post a good review but it could go either way at the moment

Snooper Truckmate not matey to truckers...

We have owned 4 truckmate sat navs to go into the cabs of our 44tonne trucks, the second one has now up the ghost and just gives the same error as the first after trying to update maps... so here's the news, don't tried updating the units as snoopers update software corrupted the mmc/sd card according to the screen., my free map updates (a selling point) are a waste of money as they cost me 2 units, 2 left but I'm not going to do anything more with this bunch of rip-off and con men. yes i visited their offices but they declined to see me as they don't deal direct with customers.... What a joke of a product, I will never by another snooper truckmate again! I’m totally disgusted by this and the attitude of of a local firm being a bunch of donkey butts.

We are sorry to learn of your your problem. Life time map updates are free. If your SD card has failed, this is will need to be replaced. Please note it is not just a simple SD card, it has special installed licenced software which like all software needs to be replaced when the hardware is broken (your SD card) while we appreciate you are unhappy there is a cost for a person to install the software and replace the SD card for your device. This is done free of charge if under warranty, if not then like all brands you will have to pay for a out of warranty repair charge.

Poor and expensive assistance

Shortly after one year the SD card has become corrupt and I'm expected to pay £75 for a new SD card worth £2 to copy the exact same software I have on the corrupt card. Daylight robbery!

Sorry to hear of your experience. We assist where we can. SD cards cost more than £2 and the software and time of the business is also on top of this cost. If you contact us directly we will try to support you, we have a discount available for customers who are within 2 years of purchase but one year outside of the warranty. This should of been applied.

Snooper were bought by The Road Angel Group

Had S8000 for almost 10 years. Brilliant device. Brilliant company.
This is not the same company. Snooper were bought out by the road angel group a few years ago.
So " Snooper " stopped supporting these old devices so I bought the s6900. Problems from day1 . Device was slow to update the route which meant in busy areas it'd get confused, reroute and then just totally confuse me. Not ideal when youre driving a 40ft lorry around London. Plus it refused to go through the wallasey tunnel even though my height was set right, along with all other parameters. So I returned the unit. Apparently it was " reset " and then returned to me. Still with the same issues.
The call centre is based in Asia somewhere. The staff have been all trained to speak slowly, quietly and politely.... and to never put you through to a manager. They will politely refuse to refund your money but will " absolutely sort this issue out for you sir". They will also lie to you, saying they don't have the ability to transfer you to the UK office , or a manager. Both I know to be true because I have been . They will tell you a manager will call you back which they won't.
In the end I refused to get off the line until I was put through to a manager. Eventually this guy came on and was instantly stand- offish and arrogant. Non apologetic also. I said that I was very dissatisfied with how Snooper seems to now be conducting their business saying " I know the history of Snooper..." at which point he rudely said " no you dont"
In a very arrogant manner.
I told him I was recording this message. He then said " that's illegal ( it isn't. Look it up. Its not illegal to record a conversation if its for your own use and neither are you obliged to inform the 3rd party) and hung up on me.
Emails were exchanged. I wrote a Trustpilot review on SNOOPER SERVICES. I received and email then saying they would upgrade my unit free of charge, but only if I changed my review and delete the recording. ( if they deny this I'll post a copy) . When I didn't agree to this as it was unethical for a company to bribe their customers and wouldn't be a truthful account, they then reneged on their offer as I wouldn't agree .
Absolutely disgusting , unprofessional behaviour.
This will all be reported to Trading Standards

What is a lifetime?

What is a lifetime?
Well according to Snooper about 10 years, that’s what you’ll get for a lifetime of map updates!
I bought my Snooper when I bought my Motorhome, well it seems my Motorhome has outlasted my navigation device because apparently I can no longer update my maps as it’s not supported.
It’s a Snooper Ventura S7000.
I phoned and asked why and didn’t really get a very satisfactory reply, so my advice to anyone out there thinking of buying, DON’T!!
In reply to your response I don’t expect anything for free or outside of a warranty, I actually paid extra for the lifetime map updates.

It is very disappointing to read that you expect something for free longer than you should. It is impossible to provide services free of charge indefinitely. Our promise is while the product is in production and able to support updating we will continue to offer Free Lifetime updates that you can manage yourself. If however you need support outside of warranty then we will provide where we can free of charge. We do the best we can but after 10years of great service you clearly expected more. I am sorry we did not meet you high expectations.

Would burn my money rather than spend it here

Would give less if possible.
Id honestly say the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Purchased a snooper in 2019, went to update it and it wouldnt update, contacted snooper and said to order a new map sd card which I did and it didnt work.
Purchased a new device from snooper in Feb 2023 and even though I bought in France and spoke to the company on a european website and purchased the device on a european website it was shipped from the UK and I was charged customs for another 93€ and as they use FEDEX for shipping FEDEX bills well after the package is delivered so you cannot refuse the package.

I contacted support and just told they ship from the UK and thats that
STAY AWAY FROM THEM
Go to TOM TOM and get either their APP or their sat nav

If I had money to waste I would burn it rather than send to snooper again

Lesson Learned

UPDATE AS REPLY TO REPLY FROM SNOOPER.
You seem to have miss read something as it wasn't just the taxes that's the issue so I'll shorten my points.
1. Nowhere along checkout does it say you may be liable for taxes
2. You use fedex to ship and as they deliver the product 1st THEN 3 to 4 weeks later bill you for the taxes (you knew NOTHING about) so you cannot refuse the package and have to pay or they fine you
3. All this was sent to you in an email well BEFORE this review but you answered the bad review in a few days BUT there is still NO reply to the email that was sent.

Reason for bad review is VERY BAD customer service
I'm part of a drivers group online and I posted my issues there and only to find out its the way you treat your customers, in 1 work BADLY

Dear Lesson, We are sorry to learn of your experience. You have been charged VAT in your country. Our prices are advertised without VAT for all customers in EU. We are base in the UK and after Brexit we can no longer ship to EU without EU countries charging you the correct VAT. If you check you would have found the reason our price in your market is lower than your local sellers and the VAT is the key difference for this. If you did not accept the charge the item would of been returned to us, so you had the choice to accept and pay or simply reject. You accepted the charge so there is nothing else we can do.

This review is not fair as you are complaining about your country's VAT rules!

I have owned 2 truckmate sat navs now

I have owned 2 truckmate sat navs now, the first one gave up the ghost and just wouldn’t turn on so bought a new one at a very hefty price, tried updating it after about a year and the sd card was corrupted, my free map update then cost me £50 for a new sd card, 2 years later I’ve just tried to update it and guess what…… another corrupted sd card to which it’s now going to cost me £70 for a new card…. So my free map updates have now cost me £120…. What a joke of a product, I will never by another snooper truckmate again! I’m totally disgusted by this.

If i could give 0 star i would ..

If i could give 0 star i would ... Bought product from them and came with a sd card which has self corrupted i phoned up technical department was told to purchase a sd card which i did then have tried to update but it wont as no way of uploading the software.. spoke to technical again to be told i have to purchase sd card form them normally costs £100. But because of issues ive had they will do it for £ 49.99. Absolute joke ... So much for buying a product with life time updates which you cant turn on now..

Road Angel Group / Snooper Series Products

Road Angel Group recently bought over the Snooper Brand of products sold by rival firm PPL Ltd - within 3 months, they declared that 3 of the Snooper products with lifetime subscription / database updates were obsolete and attempted to "help" customers onto annual subscriptions with their Road Angel Pure system instead. When I politely voiced my disquiet at this on their facebook page, my posts were deleted and I was banned from commenting further. I subsequently wrote to their customer Service manager, who was extraordinarily rude and declined to apologise for his departments poor behaviour. Road Angel have a history of reneging on lifetime updates for their devices (Road Angel Classic) so it doesn't surprise me at all that they now employ the same tactic with brands that they buy-out. I will never spend another dime with either Snooper or Road Angel and if you do, be prepared to be treated with absolute contempt sooner or later.

Great customer services from Snooper Manager

Like others I was unable to update my "free lifetime maps" last year, and recently. I have always found the Snooper technical support team very helpful, even though they too were unable to get the maps to download via my pc to Ventura device. After a couple of calls to customer services I was fortunate to speak to a manager "Adesh" and he was very helpful and understood the time and effort I had gone to re the download systems and he rectified the issue within 48 hours and I am now very happy with my fully functioning device.

Snooper DVR-4HD G3 HD Dash Cam…

Ordered a Snooper DVR-4HD G3 HD Dash Cam from them, it did not work, sent it back and asked for a replacement, they just refunded me.
The technical support line is useless.

The good, the bad and the ugly

I have more information screens in my car than the space shuttle so wanted something very slim and discreet but gave me everything including laser guns. After reading many product reviews I purchased the Snooper 4Zero BT Elite.
After I made the purchase I tried to contact customer service to ask if an express delivery option was available. It took half an hour of being on hold before I finally got through.
The item was shipped and delivered as promised and I was updated regularly via email. I did have to call their technical department with a quick query (fortunately, a different number and I only waited about 5 minutes). The chap was in my case, very knowledgable and my 4Zero was ready to go in no time.
On the whole, I’m very happy with the company and the purchase but couldn’t give 5 stars because of the excruciatingly long wait to get through to customer services.
