  1. Accounting Software Company

Written by the company

SnapBooks is Canadian bookkeeping software built specifically for self-employed Canadians, freelancers, contractors, and sole proprietors. Unlike US-focused tools, SnapBooks has Canadian tax rules built in throughout. What SnapBooks does: SnapBooks handles everything a self-employed Canadian needs to stay CRA-compliant. AI-powered receipt scanning reads vendor, date, amount, HST, and CRA category automatically. A full KM logbook records every business trip with from, to, purpose, and kilometres, then calculates your vehicle deduction using the T2125 actual expense method the method CRA requires for self-employed filers, not the employee 73 cents per kilometre rate. Invoicing lets you create professional invoices with HST auto-calculated, send them by email, and convert accepted estimates to invoices in one click. Fixed costs like rent, internet, and cell phone are tracked at your business use percentage. HST tracking shows exactly what you collected, what you paid in input tax credits, and what you owe CRA. At year end, one click generates a 5-sheet Excel export- Expenses, Income, KM Log, Fixed Costs, and T2125 Summary that you send directly to your accountant. Who it is for: Freelancers, designers, developers, consultants, contractors, rideshare drivers, delivery couriers, tradespeople, and anyone filing a T2125 with the CRA as a sole proprietor. Pricing: $69 per year - less than $6 per month. No subscription bloat. Built in Canada.

I found SnapBooks very easy to use

I found SnapBooks very easy to use! I entered a gas receipt amount, and it’s showed me the HST, which I found very helpful. The layout is very simple to understand, and it makes tracking expenses easier. Useful idea for helping self-employed people manage their bookkeeping software, income and business kilometres. My first experience with SnapBooks has been positive, and I look forward to exploring more features very much interesting .

As a freelancer I use SnapBooks to help…

As a freelancer I use SnapBooks to help me with my expenses, track of income and vehicle kms logs. Anyone looking for a tool as a self employed individual who files T2125, I would definitely recommend to use or try at least the SnapBooks.

The Best $69 This year I spent

Okay so I'll be honest - I almost didn't try this because I thought it was just another generic bookkeeping app with a Canadian flag slapped on it.

No, it isn't.

I’m a freelancer out of Ontario. I do yoga classes, consulting, a little bit of everything. Every year I'd give my accountant a stack of receipts and a half-completed spreadsheet and hope for the best. She would charge me $300+ just to go through it.

Someone on a Facebook group mentioned SnapBooks after QuickBooks Self-Employed disappeared. I thought $69 was worth a shot.

In fact, the T2125 categories are built in. The actual CRA expense lines. Not American categories with a Canadian dollar sign. HST and ITC tracking is working as it should. In one sitting I probably scanned 40 receipts on my phone and it got the amounts and dates right almost every time.

I’m not joking when I say that this is the first year I’m not dreading April. My accountant actually said my file was cleaner than usual.

If you are a sole proprietor in Canada and still doing this by hand, just try it. The free tier is enough to see if it is for you.
