Did not read referral properly

Wasted our time and our GPs time. We asked our GP to refer for ADHD RTC assessment. We chose them because their website says that we can get face to face in one of their branches (one is in our home city). Our referral explicitly said face to face is required. I was sent all their forms yesterday and completed them and sent them through. Today we received the appointment and it was remote. I telephoned and they just have an answerphone so I emailed and the response came back that they don't do face to face in Chichester. Why did they not call and explain, why do they not say that on their website? Our GP clearly asked for F2F so to just send a video appointment with no explanation is just not good enough. We cannot do video appointments as explained!! Utterly useless, and wasted our time and more importantly our GPs precious time.

The initial experience was good but they’ve let me down.

The initial experience was good. I didn’t have long to wait for an initial assessment and the process of completing the forms was fairly straight forward too. However I have now been waiting for my report and messaged them 3 weeks ago to tell them I cannot access with my date of birth and am still waiting for a reply. Have absolutely no idea what the next steps are in terms of medication etc. Feel let down and this is an unsettling time anyway for someone who is neurodivergent without this uncertainty.

Titration appointments were very helpful and understanding. It was more of a conversation with someone that understands adhd and its effects on people. Megan was fabulous and gave real examples to help me on the journey. Thank you!

Nothing short of excellence

Excellent experience so far with Skylight through NHS Right To Choose pathway. Very short time period between referral, acceptance and appointment once I had completed my forms. My wait to begin medication titration was also much shorted than I expected.

Everyone I have made contact with; my assessor, the administrative team and my prescriber have been absolutely excellent, friendly and professional at every turn.

This company and its employees and contractors really seem to hold high standards and values. They have taken the time and effort to take my individual circumstances into consideration when discussing treatment options. And treatment for me so far has been nothing short of life changing.

Truly grateful for the experience I’ve had so far. Please don’t let other reviews put you off!

Following up from an initial diagnosis…

Following up from an initial diagnosis in Sept, I finally had my pre-titration meeting with Iftikhar Choudhury who was extremely helpful and accommodating. Gave me a full briefing of what to expect and next steps. Feeling optimistic about the future.

I first sent my referral in March and only had it approved in September

I first sent my referral in March and it was lost for 2 months I feel as tho if it was found sooner I would be close to being seen right now.

It feels like I have been waiting forever since it was only found in September I feel as tho I've been waiting for an unnecessary amount of time I was wondering if I could have a hand with what has happened as my mental health has deteriorated so much that I was unable to continue with education last year feeling hopeless as I am running out of time in my life, if I'm correct since my report was brought back to me November time I may have only 2 months left to wait but I don't know what or where I will be then.

If I was to have an appointment soon I may be able to talk to a course leader to see if I can be considered to have funding allocated on the agreement that I would be medicated. It's so sad to hear as I was told "when you were on the medication you were a first class student how could you let the ball roll so low" I really hope maybe some justice can be achieved so my quality of life can improve.

It's still better than waiting 10 years with the NHS but I'd recommend people keep a good support network and don't let addiction or other nasty things that you think "fills the whole" take over your life.

The report was very well detailed but I found it hard to best prepare my self for it I feel like I could of added more by writing things down before having it.

Beware: company seriously damaging for mental health

I'm not sure why they say they're 'specialists in ADHD, Autism and Mental Health', because with how they treated me it was like they'd picked random insensitive people off the street and asked them to do this job instead of anyone with any compassion, experience or qualifications. The communication is bordering on negligent - no word for months and being told not to email the specific email support address they provide on their website. The treatment, if not so worryingly poor could almost be considered laughable - appointments held over video, through a company no one's heard of (what's the problem with major systems like Teams?) that doesn't work, even when all requirements have been met; practitioner then cuts you off halfway through the appointment despite patient having a panic attack - told "not to stress". Hello mental health specialist?? All in all, my mental health has certainly been impacted by this company, in all ways negative. From my experience, I can confidently say they don't care about patient's wellbeing and their treatment is incompetent, unprofessional and frankly disgraceful.

Personally had a great and efficient experience

Im rubbish at reviews but from my experience it was quick and efficient. Got referred and within 8 weeks I was accepted and moved onto the next stage with all the forms.
The forms were pretty straight forward. I was able to complete them the next day and get my parents to do there one. about 5 days later I had a message with an appointment for the two weeks later. I am impressed with how quick it was especially since it was over Christmas and new year. Personally had a great experience

Lack of Communication

Really poor communication. I had some general questions about the forms, before I could complete them. I asked for help via email on 07/10, on 14/10 they asked when I’d be free for a call. I hadn’t heard anything by 20/10 so followed up. I received a phone call without warning which I wasn’t able to take, they said they’d call the next day and didn’t. On 30/10, I withdrew the referral, (after which, I was called within 10 minutes of sending) as it had been over 3 weeks by that point and I couldn’t get in contact with anyone for guidance on the forms, and it made me lose confidence in the rest of the process.

It then took them another nearly 3 weeks to respond to my questions regarding GDPR, as I requested them to remove my data - as I didn’t use their service - but they refused.

My experience at Skylight Psychiatry was great because the team took the time to truly understand me as a whole person. The process was thorough, well-organised, and made me feel heard and taken seriously. They used a thoughtful, professional approach and included different perspectives to ensure accuracy. I’d like to not put a star as the…

I’d like to not put a star as the customer service from this company is appalling ….yes as stated by others the initial referral & assessment were quick & professional then that’s it you’re in limbo. My son has been waiting since March & still nothing. I email & grg no response if on the few occasions I’ve had a response I get fobbed off. It’s now Christmas my son is struggling mentally & life is hard for him with no help. Why is this company being allowed to take on all these referrals but not provide the care people desperately need.
I was referred by my gp I didn’t choose this company. They will never give a straight answer regarding medication always moving the goalposts. Something needs to be done to rectify this as it’s a shambles & people are suffering because of this.
I am currently talking to my MP & CQC regarding this as these private company’s should not be allowed to take on patients get paid by the NHS & then not provide the service - to date no one has bothered to respond to my calls or emails the contacts only go to admin who give a generic reply.

Hi Caron,
Thank you for your compliments around the referral and assessment process.
We're sorry to hear that your son has been struggling. As a non-urgent service, we signpost to other sources of support if urgent help is required. We fully understand your frustration around the wait for NHS medication. This took longer than expected to implement due to various NHS requirements, many of which were out of our control. We're pleased that NHS medication prescribing has now commenced and I understand an appointment for your son has been booked. Please be assured that the NHS only funds us for services we have provided. We're sorry you have not been satisfied by responses from our administrative team. We take onboard your feedback and continuously work on improving. Thank you

No Communication

I have had the usual experience as others. Referral and assessment were quite quick and smooth. Assessor was very professional.

Medical titration got pushed from 12 weeks to 26 weeks this was due to requirements from NHS, completely understandable.

However I’ve gone past the 26 week point and have had no update, just an email asking for blood pressure and heart rate.

I’ve emailed, no response called about 5 times got told 3 of those times that everyone was at lunch and the other two that someone would call me back. Heard nothing.

The website isn’t updated, still states 26 weeks.

I’ve made a formal complaint and received an email that clinical lead will be in contact. Have heard nothing back.

I understand that they are extremely busy and a lot of the hold ups have been out of their control. But a lot of us are struggling and are just after transparency in terms of timings. If the wait time has been extended that’s unfortunate but just let us know.

Got nothing to work to.

Hi James, thank you for your feedback.
We're pleased you had a positive experience of referral and assessment. We're glad you found your clinician professional also.

We do sincerely apologise for the wait for medication. Waiting times remain estimates due to influence from several factors and we apologise that you have gone past the estimated 26 weeks wait currently being communicated.

The current estimated waiting time on our website apply to referrals from September onwards. I am sorry that in your case it has been longer and can understand how frustrating that must feel without a revised timeframe.

We have now commenced NHS prescribing and therefore hope to contact you soon.

The team will be in touch as soon as they can offer you an appointment.

Excellent

From referral to assessment I have nothing but good things to say. The assessment was brilliant with a very empathetic consultant who catted through everything brilliantly and professionally. My report came through in 4 weeks as stated.
My only frustration is a 26 wait for medication titration but I've gone 46 years without meds so I will be ok!!

Good clinicians, let down by poor admin and communication

My ADHD assessment with Skylight Psychiatry has been a mixed experience. The clinician was good – professional, thorough and understanding – but the administrative side has been consistently slow.

Triage was quoted at 4–5 weeks but took 14. The appointment (after triage) was quoted at 4–6 weeks but took 8. Although the advertised wait is 8 weeks from referral to appointment, my actual total wait was 22 weeks from my referral at the end of May. My report has now arrived after 4 weeks, which was the upper limit of the timeframe given, and I am now on the waiting list for titration.

Communication has also been difficult, with slow or no responses and an auto-reply stating it may take up to 10 days to hear back.

The clinical care was good, but the delays and lack of proactive communication mean the advertised 8-week timeline for an appointment did not reflect my experience. I will update this review once treatment is complete.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for choosing our service and for providing detailed feedback. We're pleased you had a good experience with your clinician. I am sorry to hear of the challenges with waiting and the communication. Waiting times are always the best estimate at a given time and can never be exact due to influence from several factors. We review waiting times once a month and update our website accordingly. I understand this can be frustrating particularly if waiting times increase significantly beyond expectation, and the experience being potentially improved by more active communication. We are working on system changes that we expect will improve patient experience in future. We hope you will have a good experience with titration.

Awful company that keeps you waiting…

Awful company that keeps you waiting constantly. They dont answer the phone or reply to email. They also set you up for failure by booking random appointments at the opposite side of the country..turns out this appointments booked at the clinic was not even intended for me. So possibly some breach of data happens also. Try to complain and apparently they have a process that included simply to contact them. I did this and it still falls on death ears. Disgusting attitude also from the receptionist who cant even access any of your information 😒 these idiots deserve zero stars

Total Let Down- ADHD medication not being arranged

When I was referred to Skylight, they were very responsive to email queries and my assessment for ADHD moved quite quickly through the system.

I found the questionnaires and assessment interview very thorough as they ask for family input, too and at 41, I finally received diagnosis of high severity combined ADHD in May 2025.

I was told medication titration could be up to 3 months and I waited patiently, hoping I could finally have some help with my symptoms.

That was 5 months ago. I haven't heard from them since.

I sent an email last week, which now says may take up to 10 working days for a response and when looking at the wait for medication titration, it now says 26 weeks.

I feel so let down by them. I have struggled so much since childhood, spent years on a NHS waiting list- to being diagnosed and believing that I may finally get some relief from my symptoms and now I can't even access the medication. Which I really need as peri-menopause has made my symptoms even more severe.

Maybe they should stop taking on new referrals if they can't complete the ones they already have.

And why is there a review of someone diagnosed in SEPTEMBER having pre-titration appointments, when those of us diagnosed last MAY and before are still waiting???

We're pleased your experience of referral and assessment was positive. We do sincerely apologise for the delay in accessing NHS medication.

The delay has been due to system and NHS requirements outside our direct control. However, we have now commenced NHS prescribing and we hope to contact everyone waiting as soon as possible.

I am sorry to hear you have been struggling and would recommend reviewing the information provided following your diagnosis.

The team will contact you once they reach your place on the medication waiting list.

AVOID- Nothing supportive or professional about them.

AVOID- I went for Skylight for a Right to Choose Adults assessment. Forms came quick, referral easy and series of assessments timely, if not infantilising ! Report promised within 6 weeks. After 8 weeks i was told they didn't have all info, but when i complained they suddenly did. In the end report took twice the time promised. NO way to talk to anyone except in generic callcentre. ( i got through easily when asking initial questions) Diagnosis came by email. NO personal interaction, no follow up. Recommend medication but unable to prescribe any even 10 months later. No support. Now if you email their lead time is 10 working days to respond. Im left feeling confused and abandoned. I would totally avoid!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling confused and unsupported.

We’re pleased that the referral process and assessments themselves were timely, but we recognise that delays to reports, communication difficulties, and a lack of follow-up can feel frustrating and distressing.

For Right to Choose assessments, diagnoses are confirmed through the written clinical report, which is why this is issued securely by email. Prescribing arrangements under NHS pathways can unfortunately be subject to wider system constraints outside of our direct control, but we appreciate how difficult delays can feel when medication has been recommended. NHS medication prescribing is now underway and we aim to contact everyone waiting as soon as possible.

We are working on strengthening our communication processes, response times, and post-diagnostic information to ensure clearer expectations and better continuity of support.

If you would like to get in touch about post diagnostic support options in addition to the recommendations in your report, please email help@skylightpsychiatry.co.uk.
