Security procedures give me little confidence that Skipton are sure about the implementation of their processes.
I expect that I should be able to log in once and conduct any legitimate and legal business without being pestered by multiple verification checks.
I also would like to be able to access facts and figures that show that there is 'x' percent of 'y' transactions being fraudulent so inconveniencing 95 percent? of honest customers to catch the 5 percent? dishonest ones.
Sorry, but Skipton's reply does little to address my issues and gives what seems to be a default script-like answer that tells me that Skipton doesn't want to engage in open discussion. There are no confidential issues in my comment.
I expected the update to Skipton Invite to be straight forward and leave me with an icon which takes me to a log in screen as now. To have to enter my password which tells me that I the app has been updated and I need to login again.
My comment was intended to be feedback suggesting that the update was not to a standard I expect.

Fast and helpful response on the WebChat. Clear information. I love this Building Society as you get great interest rates and it's super easy to manage in the app.

My dad is an elderly disabled person and cannot always get to the bank so keeps some cash in his house for emergencies and to pay the cleaner or gardener he needs. In addition he has been saving some cash towards a change of car but decided that £1,000 was too much to have in case of a burglary etc.
As Skipton is now the only branch of a bank or building society in Cleveleys he thought he would open a savings account with the £1000 surplus cash but this was refused by the cashier. She said they were not a bank and did not hold cash so he would have to go to his bank some miles away to pay it in then go back to the branch to open an account and transfer the money to Skipton. Not impressed!
So logic says that if he had an account and needed some cash they could not give it him as they do not hold cash. Presumably they would transfer it back to his bank and he would have to travel there to get it!

Went into local branch to open members only special savings account having recieved a brochure today in post, only to be told its out of date and no longer available. Lady in front of us had come in for same thing both of us wanted to open maximum. Staff told us its down to the post office . Skipton need to complain to post office they may have more clout than us.

I used the online chat service, rather than make a call, which I found to be a very good option to discuss my account.
My question was answered quickly and clearly, after completing the usual security checks.
The service was very good with very little waiting time.
I will definitely use this service again.

My interest payment was not credited due to computer glitch. Was asked not to withdraw any other funds until this had been sorted.
No idea when this will happen- still waiting to hear.
So I couldn’t withdraw my own money on an immediate access account !
Stood at the counter for one hour, Manager and 2 cashiers were unable to sort out the problem.
Wasted special visit and a full morning.
Now may lose opportunity to reinvest the money in another Building Society account elsewhere.

1 Star – Avoid at All Costs
I had a 2-year fixed-rate bond with Skipton Building Society which matured in Dec 25. To my surprise, the funds were automatically reinvested into another bond without my knowledge or explicit consent. I was not aware that the maturity date had passed and did not receive any communication that effectively alerted me to the fact that action was required.
Since discovering this, I have made multiple appeals to have the bond opened and my money released. During a visit to my local branch in Reading, I was advised that resolving the issue should be straightforward. However, when the matter reached head office, I was met with a completely different response and a flat refusal to help.
What has been most frustrating is the lack of consistency between what branch staff told me and the position taken by head office. As a long-standing customer, I expected a reasonable level of flexibility and common sense, especially given my change in circumstances. Instead, I have encountered an inflexible process and a complete unwillingness to consider my situation.
Customer service has been deeply disappointing throughout, and I feel that customer interests come second to rigid policies. If you are considering placing your savings with Skipton, be aware that if your bond matures and is automatically reinvested, you may find yourself with very limited options if you later need access to your funds.
Based on my experience, I have genuinely never been involved in such an un-customer focused organisation and I would strongly recommend that potential customers look elsewhere for their savings and investment needs.
The matter is now with the Ombudsman.
Avoid at all costs.

Complete nightmare to deal with. Been trying to transfer my cash ISA from another provider since May.
When I opened the cash ISA it took over a month before they applied an interest rate to it.
Take forever to reply. They can take over a week to reply to a secure message.
Still require simple forms to be printed off and filled in manually then posted.
They come across as ineffective and incompetent.
I will never use them again, infact I wouldn't trust them with a 10yo's piggyback.
