Couldn’t be more pleased. Went there to try on a Gavin Green jacket. They allowed me to go outside with a club to check if there was restrictions in movement. When I went to buy it was told that I would get a10% discount (£59) by getting their app. Their price as £39.99 less than my online searches. All the staff were friendly. I have always heard positive things about them.
For those that have never been allow me to tell about Silvermere golf & leisure…
First the good , probably the best golf shop in the South east of England, the range of clubs , bags, shoes is staggering. There’s a decent selection of clothing too along with accessories. The end of range sale shop (located on the top floor of the driving range) is full of decent deals as long as you’re not one to keep up with the Jones, though it’s very hit and miss when stock is put out for purchase. They have a loyalty card that gathers points like your Tesco or Sainsbury card does and you can use it when ever you spend except on the driving range’s ball dispenser ( tip, buy your balls downstairs in the office and then get the points on your card not at the dispensing Machine) . The range itself is fitted with excellent tracking machines though the balls are somewhat ropey !
The nineteenth hole is an excellent bolt hole for both liquid and solid refreshment though the service can be slow .
The course is two nine holes put together as an afterthought or so it seems , the front nine wooded the back somewhat open waiting for saplings to mature.
The bad ,
The car park is nearly always full but the overflow has room though it’s much dustier.
The putting Green is quite disappointing given the size of the overall place . The chip and bunker areas are a trek to get to ( unless you parked in the overflow car park ) and on the occasion I’ve been I’ve often left with a feeling that my attempts to spend my money in the ‘pro’ shop has been hard work.
I feel that they are on a percentage deal and because I don’t know what I want exactly they sort of dismiss you. They aren’t rude but they aren’t overly helpful either. You’re able to try new clubs on the range, many faces are masked but some older clubs aren’t. Nothing odd there I know but if someone told me I was looking to buy a whole new set but wanted to get the short list shorter by hitting a few irons I’m not sure I’d offer them just a few 7 irons, I kinda felt I wasn’t taken seriously or worse they couldn’t be bothered to actually go the extra mile .
People go there because they have everything you could want but I’m not sure they all leave there smiling.
I bought atrolley from Silveremere less than 3 years ago and although a little apprehensive as the store is so far away from where I live it was delivered quickly and undamaged.
Recently I noticed that one of the bolts had sheared off and I emailed them ( Mike ) asking for a replacement.
Within a week the bolt had been delivered and within a few minutes the problem was fixed. This rate of service is unusual unfortunately so Silveremere and Mike deserve praise and I won't hesitate to recommend them
Ordered an Ogio golf flight travel bag as this was the best online price and free delivery. Bag arrived within 48 hours and a great product. My friend ordered one at the same time and his arrived on the same delivery van. After being sceptical of the online shop as I'd never heard of them I can now highly recommend Silvermere and will definitely shop there again
Poor club fitting service
I had a club fitting in Nov21 at the left handed shop waited 7 months for new irons, was not too bothered as I knew there was issue with getting all clubs. Eventually got them mid May and first time I hit them they went straight left middle of the club. Tried them 6 times eventually gave up went back to my old clubs. Wrote and told the shop something was wrong. Was seen again, to be basically told it was me not the clubs. I am a 10 handicapper and have played 20+ years so not a newbie. When I went to another local club fitter they checked my lie and weight of clubs were wrong. Clubs I bought had 65g shafts and they were too heavy for me changed to 45g! Lie 2 degree out. Basically I was given off the shelf clubs for a 6ft man! Would not recommend to use them. Had to pay to change shafts costing additional £500! Not a happy customer
After my initial visit in Feb this year I have headed back for some new fairway woods and a wedge. Yet again I was greeted with the upmost courtesy and professionalism and was lucky enough to have the same fitter (Mike W) from before.
It was an extremely thorough and efficient fitting which has left me eager to receive the new woods.
My driver (from Feb visit) has been in the bag for a month now and is performing better than I could ever wish… and I expect the woods to follow suit.
This is THE ONLY place to go for golf clubs in my honest opinion.
Just been for a custom fitting for driver, 3 wood and hybrids. Mike was superb and very knowledgeable. In no time at all he had me sorted with the shafts required for my ability and what degree loft needed to achieve the 12 to 14 degree launch angle. Then to top it off the money paid for the fitting plus and extra £20 was taken off the price of the clubs I purchased. I cannot recommend these guys enough for their custom fit and will be using them from now on. Worth the time and money to get things right. And way better than my previous golf company who decided to con me out of a few quid!!
Travelled to Silvermere my aladdins cave of golf and found exactly what I wanted and served by cheerful knowledgeable staff. Thoroughly recommend.
Be careful, excellent facility and golf fitting team superb…..however
Over promise under deliver on when clubs turn up, having spent over £4K, delivery dates have been and gone with no updates and a very disappointing call today to be told ….nothing.
Brought a Cobra F9 5 wood under a year ago so should be still under warranty.
Sharp edges have developed around the face of the club which marks the golf balls every time the club is used.
Took the club back to Silvermere who seemed puzzled despite the fact you could feel the rough edges around the club and they were shown photos of the marks on the golf balls
They kept the club for about a week then phoned me to collect the club as they could not see a problem
I have always brought my clubs from this store but never again
Amazing the attitude when buying but when trying to get some service for sub standard good NOT INTERESTED.
This will be my reaction to the store the next time I buy clubs
As a fitting centre they are superb and have a great shop and outlet store. A long wait to get a fitting session but worth the wait. Fitted for Mizuno irons last year and wedges this year. Delivery only about a month from Mizuno. Taylor Made driver a disaster, over 4 months to wait due to lack of parts.
If only they communicated these supply challenges when doing the fitting it would allow an informed choice. No way of choosing another driver after finding out about the delay as another months wait for a fitting session and another £40. They seem unable to work with the supplier, it seems crazy that one has the head and the other has the shaft but they can't work to put the two together.
Have used them often but never online, item did not arrive and remains a mystery as to its location. Parcelforce say they tried but CCTV shows otherwise. £400 putter missing in thin air will not use online again. Very disappointed
Unfortunately, this golf & leisure complex is more about leisure than golf... The shop is amazing, extensive and surprisingly well priced, golf porn a go-go. The range is fantastic with a seriously good tracking system, no faults here.
The course however is a different story. The maintenance of the course is frankly poor all round. Some areas look more like the wasteland you would find surrounding caravans than a surrey golf course. The fairways and 1st cuts are patchy and compressed like there has been a festival for heavy people meaning the quality of your lie is a total lottery, i.e you never win and its always a bad outcome. The greens were covered in sand, mental, not sure if this for drainage but it meant the ball did not bite on approach, skidded like a fat kid on wet lino. Then when putting, it had the consistency of speed of a drink driver. The layout of the course is too easy in places and too hard in others, its like designer was in a rush, or bored. The last two holes are a final flourish that attempts to make you forget the awful round and leave you with a good feeling, but ultimately you still sit in the car park and think..."well I am never coming back".
Great driving range and practice facilities.
Good offers in the shop.
