Crafty and poisons like a snake

Used this service to find jobs back in 2011, legally you can owe them upto 30 days which my contract stated and pay whenever you can within that 30 days, they called to ask for payment and i reminded them that its a month invoice so i will pay, they kindly said can i pay them £50 (%10 percent of the invoice) gues what they did while they knew i was in spain??? Drew all the money in one go and since i am self employed that was my only money in my account, i was left with no money, tried calling them they refused and said the company is not doing well and it may take upto 28 days to refund...

I was left in tears, i only had left £70 for one entire week - and manage to litterally survive for £10 a day..

Unchecked tradesmen

I had a gas boiler installed by an outfit recommended by Service magic.
Neil Burtons Plumbing and Heating of Middlesbrough. It was fitted fairly well but badly wired. I managed to rewire the control panel to get it going but the gas safe registered plumber who installed it still has not registered it with building regulations after nearly a year. I am unable to contact either service magic or the plumber.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!!

Richard (formally RHI Home Improvements) asked us to carry out some work in March 2014. We are still waiting to get paid! He has not returned our calls, emails etc. We have a warrant out on him and are in the process of sending the Bailiff to him.

DO NOT WORK FOR THEM - THEY DO NOT PAY

From contacting Service magic, via quote to job done all in less than a week - wow -well done Service Magic!

I needed a minor piece of work doing repairing fascia and soffit boards. I had been putting off doing anything for years because I didn't know who to ask and didn't think anyone would be interested in such a fiddly job. But with 24 hours Servicemagic found two companies willing to quote and two days later the job was done by APS Roofing from Purton and everyone was happy.

Thank you Servicemagic and Frank of APS.

Not a chance!

I'm looking for a new central heating boiler or full system and found Sevicemagic on an internet search. I gave my details and had one very vague emailed response - from a drainage company, not a heating engineer or plumber!

I'm now getting pestered by Servicemagic to complete a survey. I took a look at the form and it is asking for a lot of personal information about me, all of these it says are mandatory fields. They're clearly trying to get more information to push more services to me.

I'm glad I've now seen the reviews on here and I'd say avoid at all costs.

Do not use, untrustworthy and unchecked companies

I deceides to use a company called Handymen Pro after they along with a few others contacteded me regarding our flat referbishment. Edwuard the 'project manager' visited on a few occasions before work began and agreed on details. We were told that work would be completed in 3 weeks and agreed on the date. On the first day of work Edwaurd and some team members didn't show up until after 10am having agreed to begin at 8am. With no phone all or explanation. This continued for the first week and on somedays no one at all would show up. We made many calls to Edwaurd regarding our frustration and the unprofessionalism and were given many excuses but assured the work would be done.
At 5 weeks our flat looked no closer to being finished despite is paying the next payment on the agreed payment date and we were still not able to live in our flat. The team had also managed to damage our new kitchen cupboards, and appliances and flooring with their carelessness and shoddy work.
6 weeks in still with no one showing up on days and poor work and excuses from Edwaurd Aswell as him trying to charge extra for work that hasn't been done we had to call in another company and cut our losses with Handymen Pro. The new company have been appalled with the work and we have had to have all electrics and gas redone as this was deemed unsafe during our gas safety check. We have small children and are very lucky to have not been harmed by the poor work they did. Service magic has been of no help and they obviously do not vet the companies registered with them. Please save yourself the stress, and danger and do not rely on servicemagic to provide a reputable company. Do not use Handymen Pro either, they have no idea what they are doing and are putting people in danger by working in people's homes.

scammers and spammers

Never even hear of this company before 8 hours ago when i started been bombarded wth texts and emails for leads to potential customers. 11.15pm now and still getting them. I have had to put my phone now on silent as the last text woke up my 3 month old child. As some one who rely on there phone it been on silent is very bad for me. There is also no way of stopping this spam coming through that i can figure out. Surly there must be some sort of law against this kind of spam. I might try and get the number for there MD and text him 2 texts an hour through the night see how he likes it.

A COMPLETE SCAM!

I am Furious with this company. The leads were not qualified - many customers had not even purchased the property they needed work on. We have wasted hundreds of £. The customer service was appalling too. Very slick and polished responses but no real help. I sincerely believe this company makes its profits from people trialing for a few months only.
I expect this Service magic to appear on Watchdog or a similar at some point in the future.

Good start.... but poor follow-up customer service!

We used Direct Roofing to replace fascias and guttering prior to moving in to our house we bought in Dyserth, North Wales. All looked well at first and we paid via direct bank transfer after several pushy phone calls on the day we went to check the work. However after closer inspection we noticed a few faults: Cracked fascia board; Downspout completely away from gutter ( I fell off a stepladder trying to re-attach it, but it had obviously been forced to fit!); Wrong elbow joint fitted between gutter and downspout so it leaks when it rains: Poor joint between gutter and downspout which keeps coming apart. Despite numerous phone calls and promises to rectify these faults over the last 4 to 5 weeks nothing has happened. It would probably take them about 1 hour to put right! Our invoice states a 10 year guarantee, but we're not holding our breath....

Such a disappointment!

Used service magic and was recommended Asad Ameer-Dumfernline (Red Zone security). He was a total rip-off, provided me faulty goods, never answered my calls, over-charged, and gave a completely unprofessional service. Its been 3 months and I still have a faulty box and no call back from Asad Ameer

Be very very wary of Servicemagic, I can say this from experience...

I was rang by Jaime of Servicemagic, who is one of the consultants, telling me how good & brilliant the company was and said that how much work we would get through them.
£400 down the line worse off and hours of wasted time, through leads that were not going anywhere or were ever likely too.
Totally sold a dud product and would recommend all to keep clear.
Customer service absolutely shocking, had no intention on discussing my issues or what we'd originally discussed about the leads I was promised.

extremely disappointed with the service

We were extremely disappointed by the level of service we received from ESI Electrical and ServiceMagic.co.uk. Firstly, not only was the 'electrician' they sent us woefully unqualified, he also managed to cause more damage than was originally the case and still requested full payment for the half-hearted job he eventually, and reluctantly, did. To add insult to injury, upon contacting ServiceMagic with photographic evidence of the damage caused, they assured us they would look into the matter and get back in touch...they didn't bother. All in all a very unsatisfactory experience, lacking professionalism and integrity, and a service provider one would do well to avoid.

An awful company

After cancelling my subscription to this company they continued to send me leads and are insisting that I pay for them. They deny that I cancelled the subscription and are insisting that their system is infallible and my call to cancel would have been recorded. This same infallible system is capable of sending leads in areas other than those I asked for. I got a call again today threatening me with a debt collection agency for money that I do not owe.

I would advise anyone to not get involved with their service.

Service magic are useless

I'm a gas engineer who has used other lead gererating sites with some sucess, but service magic are rubbish. Their leads are not checked, I've just paid £27 for a lead of a customer who wants a boiler in a house she has not bought yet! This is not the first time, out of 7 purchased leads I have visited 2. One of those was for a chap who wanted it in 6 months, and service magic knew this because it said 6 months on his details. They do not check the details, so anyone who just casually fills in their form will be sold to you. One lead the phone number was dead, one lead the phone number was foriegn. Waste of money, and I don't like their attitude on the phone, all salesmen, mostly with american accents, I've cancelled my credit card with them.......please please don't use. I've had sucess with rated people....alot more professional.
