Today was the straw that broke the…

Today was the straw that broke the camels back with my tolerance of this dealership. I am not going to use the service advisors name but internally I am sure that you can look it up and suggest that he be more customer proactive. Both times I have had the assignment of him I have been left in the service line extended periods of time and he generally just goes thru the paces as if he doesn't care if he is there or not. This is the 2nd advisor I have used at this dealership and both have left a lot to be desired of. I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation at this morning at 730 am. After working a double shift the night before, by 9:15 I started to get a bit ansy to get out and texted back to find out the status of my vehicle. He said it was not in the shop yet and was the 2nd car in line to begin work. Mind you at this point I have been sitting in the lobby for almost 2 hours for a set time appointment. I instructed him to bring me my vehicle and I would bring it elsewhere for the work. As he was retrieving it I spoke with another advisor and was advised that some of the mechanic's had quit and there were extended wait times across the board for everyone but the appointment schedules had not been modified and they are more or less just doing what they can do. My time is valuable, not so much financially, but personally, the last thing I want to do is sit in a shop for 3+hours to get an oil change. Seminole Toyota, from my experience (you make your own judgement) has a " deal with it " attitude and really does not give a damn about the customer. I have wasted alot of money on their "extended warranty" that I will likely just not use, in lieu of saving time going to a mechanic who does care. Utterly disappointed that I purchased a vehicle there, would not recommend this dealership to anyone.

Stay away from Seminole Toyota

Myself and my family have been customers of our local Toyota dealer since 1991. A few years ago they became Seminole Toyota and they have become the worst. There location is 10 minutes from my house, but now myself and the family travel 40 minutes to a different Toyota dealership.

I had a horrible experience where I had taken my Camry in because it was running rough, which the shop person advised it could be a plug and I agreed, but I also wanted thinking I would have the O2 sensor fixed because every diagnostics they had run over the last few years said it was bad.

When I went to get my car they wanted to charge me a crazy amount for a tune up (mind you we were talking one bad plug because I had changed the wires recently, as well as the air filter and the oil) so that made me suspicious. Then I asked about the diagnostics that was supposed to be run. Why wasn't the information provided. They claimed that the diagnostics had been run. Well, surprise, on the paper work they gave me the mechanic had suggested that I run a diagnostics. I asked for the service manager only to have him give me an attitude. He could have easily said, hey sorry we missed it. I'll have them run it for you now. No instead he got nasty with me, then walked away. They refused to give me my keys until I paid. So I had to pay. While trying to pay, they were so kind as to tell me they were not accepting cash. So I was forced to pay by card.

I want to make it clear at this point that we are a big Toyota family. My wife and I own a Toyota RAV4 and the Camry, previously we had a Corolla and a Toyota Pick Up. My parents own a Camry, our son owns a new Corolla, my sister has a new Highlander, my sister-in-law owns a 4 Runner, my wife's parents own a new RAV4 and they were leasing a C-HR.

My parents had just spent over 1K on repairs for their Camry and we were about to spend 3K for a repair to our RAV4 after having just bought new tires, a battery, having the alternator and the struts replaced. Obviously long time loyal customers.

So this is how they treat good customers. I reached out to Toyota Corp and they let me know it was a franchise and there was little they could do. One of their managers called me, just to have him treat me like I was stupid. He argued with me about the O2 sensor, saying how could I know this up until the point I told him it was his service dept. that had told me on the last few diagnostics. Then he got quiet and said that there was nothing he would do for the $100 charge for the diagnostics. He wouldn't even let me bring the car in to have them run the diagnostics I didn't get but was charged for.

The story gets better! I got a nail in my tire. As I mentioned we had bought the tires at this dealership and had the additional road hazard on the tires.

I tried to avoid Seminole Toyota and went to Tire Kingdom, where I had just bought new tires for our Camry ( Yes, Seminole Toyota you could have had that sale but you blew it ). Tire Kingdom said because of where the nail was it couldn't be patched. I asked how much a new set of tires would be, just to know the price. They said I did not need new tires (Kudos to them for their honest!) My wife chimed in and reminded me we had the hazard insurance. So we had to return to Toyota.

They told us the same thing, it couldn't be repaired. They showed us the hazard insurance had expired. So we needed a new tire, my wife said let's just get it now since we're here. I started to explain to the service person that I was hesitant because of my last experience. I started to explain what happened and he cut me off saying, that it wasn't him, he could take care of us. He motioned for one of his people to come over who he introduced as their tire expert.

This expert proceeded to tell us how we needed a new set of tires and he could make us a deal (Mind you Tire Kingdom just told us we did not need a new set of tires). My wife said no, just the one tire. The service person jumped in saying we don't carry your tire any more. My wife looked at him and pointed to the wall where they had our tire with a sales sign on it ( It's a Michelin tire btw ).

I got up and said, No thank you. You might cheat other people out of their money, but you are not going to get any of my money.

Thank God this is the United States and we have the choice to shop where we won't get taken advantage of. Seminole Toyota has become the epitome of what
a bunch of crooks dealership is. They remind me of the old movie "Used Cars" where a little old lady asks if the car she was looking at was once a taxi because she noticed some yellow paint on it and they replied no, of course not- that's yellow primer.

Just wanted to add one last thing. When my in-laws bought their new RAV4 they bought it at the Toyota dealership in Winter Park because of how we were treated.
