Used Security Warehouse in the past…

Used Security Warehouse in the past without issue. However most recent order was held due to items becoming out of stock, this was regardless of the items showing in stock on the website.
After 3 months I had to cancel the order and chase a bit to finally receive my refund.

A shockingly bad experience returning…

A shockingly bad experience returning two faulty smoke detectors.

It took Security Warehouse more than three months to claim that a returns parcel hadn't arrived, by which time it was too late to claim compo from Royal Mail who had subsequently lost it on the way back to me

From the tracking I could see that Royal Mail tried to deliver to Security Warehouse on two successive days in October but reported as there being no answer on the 20th, and the address being inaccessible on 21st.

Royal Mail 'carded' Security Warehouse to arrange re-delivery or collection, but they apparently couldn't be bothered so arranged neither, consequently the parcel was returned to the Royal Mail National Returns Centre but sadly it was never returned to me.

Despite repeated hasteners from me waiting for my refund, Security Warehouse didn't bother to tell me of the loss of the parcel until early January, but having exceeded the 80 day claim limit it is now not possible to seek any redress with Royal Mail.

I'm giving Security Warehouse a few more days and then if I still haven't received my refund I'll raise a claim in the County Court using Money Claim On Line. I wonder whether Security Warehouse will be open to receive the Court Papers...?

Edited to add:
I have carefully checked the Order Confirmation email relating to order number 96675 and there are no Ts and Cs either included or attached, so unfortunately the Security Warehouse defence fails at the first hurdle.

As for their claim that I hadn't indicated whether I was seeking refund or replacement, I told them in a message on 22/01/2026 at 6:59 pm that I was seeking either a refund or a credit note. The choice was theirs, but they probably didn't receive that either....

If you're thinking of buying from Security Warehouse, then hopefully you'll read this and look elsewhere...

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry both detectors have not found their way back to us, but can confirm one has been received.

I have looked into the return regarding your order and can see you advised of the faulty detector and were awaiting a replacement from us. We had notified you that we would come back to you when stock had been received to allocate a convenient date for you, you had not advised us you would be returning prior to the stock being allocated.

We are open Monday - Friday 10.00-15.00, however deliveries can be received between 09.00-17.00, like all businesses. I see from the tracking information you provided in your recent communication with us, Royal Mail attempted delivery after 17.00 and also unsure why the address would be "inaccessable" how they would be able to notify us of attempted delivery.

We have not received any communication from Royal Mail regarding outstanding deliveries.

Stated in our T&C which is included within order confirmation:

5. All RMA Numbers are valid for 30 days

10. Items returned under the RTB (return to base) warranty are at the customers cost and risk.

After 30 days if we have not recieved the goods, the return is closed, as many customers find the goods not to be faulty or no longer wish to return the goods.

It would be up to the sender to ensure goods are delivered and if not to contact the method used to return, so you would need to take this up with Royal Mail.

Our recent response asks if you can please advise if you wish the returned detector to be replaced or refunded?

Repeated promises of a refund, but nothing

I returned an item to this company who advised me they had received the item back and were processing a refund. This was 5 months ago. I have chased them over and over again, they just keep telling me a refund is being issued. Avoid this company.

Delivery back charge

Ordered some door contact switches from Security Warehouse, only to get a notification from DPD Local that they tried to deliver but no one there, even though we was here the entire time, they apparently attempted delivery the following day and sent another email to say no one there, even though we was there again?
Apparently they also left a calling card......... no calling card was left anywhere where we are based?
Spoke to Security Warehouse and they said that the delivery had been returned to themselves, so I asked for our money back as we need to purchase it urgently from someone else, they then offered me a refund in the form of a credit for the full amount, which I declined and asked for the money to be credited to the original purchase method, which they did two days later but deducted £8.34 for the cost of delivery, even though they never made the delivery??
I will be attempting to recover these costs through Paypal who was our method of payment.
After reading several other reviews of this company I will be giving them a VERY WIDE berth from now on, and I suggest other people think carefully before spending their money

Thank you for your comments, and I can understand your frustation and so have looked into this further for you.

I can see DPD attempted delivery at 17.15 out of of your 08.00-16.30 opening hours. DPD notified us they had been unable to deliver so we emailed you asking to get in touch with us as the parcel would be returned.

Communication by email of 1 hour delivery time was sent to the email address provided on the order and text to the mobile number on the order, when these messages are sent you have the option of requesting goods be left in a safeplace or book a different delivery date, if the time allocated is not suitable for you.

It appears 2 days later you did get in touch, and then after the weekend you requested the order be cancelled, however as the courier had attempted delivery we can only refund on the goods being returned as delivery was unsuccessful due to no one being at the delivery address at the time.

I am unsure how we could have notified you any further of the delivery time. Sadly as we did not receive any notification from you before you cancelled the order the goods were returned to us, and refund was submitted.

An order placed with this company will not be a good experience.

Please avoid this company. They advertise goods online that they do not hold stock for. They take your payment and then five days later inform you by email that your order is on back order and they have no expected delivery date. When you then cancel the order and request a refund you will receive no response. This will then involve a Section 75 credit card claim to get your money back. Do yourself a favour and buy elsewhere.

Update 04/12/25.... Despite sending this company numerous emails since this review asking for a refund, it still has not been processed.

Stay well clear

Stay well clear. Ordered on the 8th Oct, goods still not here on the 29th.

Blaming suppliers for delay. Seems a common theme looking at reviews.

( Lack of ) service

On October 8th I ordered a Veritas keypad number membrane.As yet I have heard nothing from you so I sent an E-mail to you today Oct.20th and have had no reply. I either require a refund and I will go elsewhere or a response to my E- mail of today. I have never had such bad service from anyone i have dealt with and will not be using your (lack of) service again. If i had been able to I would have given you NO stars but I had to tick 1 or i could not write a review

I am now done with the company

Used this company in the past with no issues, sadly they no longer seem to be able to answer the phone or reply to messages.
My items were ordered a month ago and they are still saying they are awaiting a date from the supplier although the manufacturer assures me there is no delay in fulfilling order their end.
Beware!

Not a great experience

Not a great experience. I ordered parts, was notified that all were in stock before I paid, but received no update for a few days. I then contacted them to be informed that they are out of stock. No proactive updates from them.

Save yourself the hassle, look elsewhere.

Excellent customer service

I managed to make an enquiry by telephone, as I wasn't sure what I needed to order, regarding replacing a vandalised entry phone keypad. The person I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful, and the price was very competitive. Despatch did take a couple of days, as the parts weren't in stock, but nevertheless I was delighted with the polite and professional service I received.
