I was working with an old Dell desktop, OptiPlex 9020, when the system froze during a Windows update. Tried everything, even pulling the drive and connecting it externally. Nothing. Reached out to this recovery place. It took a little explaining (I’m not super technical), but they were patient and clear. Got back a folder with most of my projects, including one I thought I lost months ago. That was a surprise.

formatted the wrong drive like an idiot. lost 3 years of work. salvagedata brought it back and i don’t even care what it cost, i can sleep again.

Sent them a completely dead SSD from my Dell XPS, fully expecting a “sorry, can’t do it” response, but instead I got a full file tree back and I still don’t know how they did it.

At first i thought the whole recovery industry was just smoke and mirrors tbh, but salvagedata made me eat my words.

Data deemed unrecoverable but I figured as much up front and only had to pay $40 to confirm for two 1TB SSDs and two-way shipping. Foolishly hard formatted one SSD and installed Win 11 over the other, all my own fault, Joseph stated up front they might well be unrecoverable but to me it was worth $40 to try. Joseph was great to talk to and work with, good communications on phone and online. Despite non-recoverable data, will recommend their services.

I have a 2tb Western Digital Passport with a blinking light and clicking noise and it will not read. I explained this to salvage data and told them that it will not read and more than likely the read heads have been damaged. It was delivered to them and called the next day saying nothing could be recovered and did I want my drive to be sent back for $40. So I got it back. As far as I can tell they plugged it in, couldn't read anything and that was it! I told them that the read heads were not functioning! I could have used recovery software myself if the read heads were functioning! So I've now sent my drive to Fields Data and they are taking my drive apart and putting the platters in another drive to salvage the data which is what needed to be done. Don't waste your time with Salvage Data. Go straight to Fields.

They wanted $4200 to get all the data off my hard drive. They stated it was damaged and they needed to do surgery to get all my data. $20 on Amazon for a docking station and I transfered everything in few hours. This company is an absolute scam and I hope their computers crash and they lose everything. Stay away from these crooks!

Customer service was very polite and they knew what they were talking about. They offer payment plans which is a huge plus considering how expensive drive repairs can be.
