Avoid like the plague
My wife and I took out health insurance with this company in the summer of 2025. Unfortunately we had to stop our move to Spain and accordingly cancelled the health insurance that we had never used. We cancelled in the autumn and the cancellation was acknowledged and refund stated to be 'soon'. Months later and despite repeated reminders not a Euro of refund has been received. Accordingly, we will now be taking action from our Spanish lawyer as well as referring the situation to the Spanish authorities for pensions and insurance. Strongly suggest no one ever uses this company. Following on from this posting, we received from our brokers - Spainbrok, that I notice other reviewers have also referenced - assuring me that the refund would be forthcoming and then what was reportedly a copy of the refund notice/bank transfer. This stated payment within 3-4 working days. Needless to say, 16 days later no refund has been received into our account. Accordingly, we will be reverting to legal action since clearly this latest development strongly indicates fraudulent activity from either Salus and/or Spainbrok. I will update this TrustPilot site (and other review sites) with any further developments but, in the meantime, I strongly suggest avoiding Salus like the plague and also avoiding Spainbrok (and estate agents that recommend them) unless they can show that the pledge of refund was genuine - obviously I would amend this review if this becomes the case with Spainbrok. Update from 31/02/26 after further delays, Spainbrok to their great credit were able to transfer across a refund payment. In conclusion, I would recommend Spainbrok both as a broker and in their relationship with MySpainVisa (who were excellent throughout in my experience) but keep well clear of Salus themselves.
