I was fine with Safestore until my licence was approaching expiry. I contacted them to ask about renewing it, but the conversation became quite disappointing and uncomfortable.
When I first took out the storage unit, I was told that once my initial licence/discount period ended, they could help arrange a new quote with a similar discount. A few days ago, I was informed that if I wanted to continue, the price would increase from around £13 per week to £26.61 per week. I therefore asked whether there were any other offers available, and was then quoted £26.49 per week for the unit, which was hardly any different.
I exchanged several emails with the store, mainly with one member of staff, and the conversation ended in a very abrupt and unfriendly way. Quite similar impression to the review left by Zach Scott: the tone was rude and dismissive, which was completely different from the experience at the beginning, when the staff were very helpful and welcoming while I was taking out the contract.

Beware of them raising prices without any notice so you have the option to cancel. With no notice mine has increased by £40 a month. Once stuff is out will never use again or recomend

Be aware your invoice is generated 2 weeks in advance I have given my 14 days notice (before my next invoice is die) and they are charging me a full month because they are saying you can't give notice mid cycle as they have already produced the next invoice) why should the customer be held responsible for their early invoice. They are now charging me another £236 even tho my 14 days notice is in writing. They also are charging me insurance for the next 40days even tho I've told them the init will be empty by 9th Sep (last day of my notice) so I'm paying expensive insurance for an empty unit. When you sign up they say it's mandatory to take the insurance it's not you can get your own which is £30 cheaper they just 'forget to tell you that'
Will never use this facility again.

Really straight forward and supportive service. Customer service was excellent - Lucy was brilliant from the initial enquiry and throughout the process. Good storage space, in a good location, at a good price. The experience with Safestore was a far, far better one than the awful service provided by another well known storage company where our things were stored beforehand. Highly recommend Safestore and in Lucy they have a fantastic member of staff who cares about the job and whom they are fortunate to have.

The team were always really efficient, helpful and had a nice friendly approach over the 2 years I had my unit. It surprised me that they recognised me and knew my name on each visit. Very positive experience.

Nice clean and safe place for storage

I really cannot say enough how professional, helpful and kind Christina and Mo were. They both truly went above and beyond to ensure that things went as smoothly as possible, at different stages. Christina was so attentive, thoughtful and helpful from the moment I first called to book in, right up until I arrived at the storage unit. Mo, who took over from there, was extremely patient and professional, even when dealing with a tricky situation. They both really went out of their way to help and made a hectic day so much easier! Thank you both so so much.

Good facility. They only had one staff member working - as a result, the first time I went to the unit, I was left waiting for 20 minutes while they were on the phone. Poor experience but nothing to do with the staff member in question who was great.

Storage facilities were clean. Parking always no problem. Plenty of trolleys, lifts were generally working fine. On one occasion they were out of operation - I had to lug 5 heavy boxes up one flight of stairs (1st floor). Staff friendly, but forgot to give me a fob upon registration. I have to add, even though there was full transparency, the prices - and insurance - were a bit hefty

From reserving online with 1st payment, to accessing the storage space, the process is easy.
Great welcome at the store, easy instructions and app also very easy to use.

This is an all-men environment. If you're OK with staff talking down to you, never having a query addressed and are happy with ever-changing instructions/clarifications this is the place for you. The Lea Bridge branch has filthy toilets with weeks' worth of ingrained grime, litter all over the area by the loading bays. The lift was out of service at one point and took days to fix. When I attempted to contact safestore customer services at head office with a query that the branch couldn't address I was ghosted. Absolutely terrible experience.
