This business doesn't deserve to exist
Last night was the last straw.
Terrible doesn't even start to cover it :( And grab yourself a drink because this is a very long rant.
We started using this place for takeaway when we moved to the area about 18 months ago and even though food regularly arrived late, they forgot dishes, sent the wrong pizza or forgot the salad with meals or sent the wrong drinks (or the large size instead of the small, never the other way around), we kept on thinking 'well, everyone makes mistakes sometimes' and because it was convenient, the pizzas were OK and it's all too easy to forget the terrible service until 2-3 weeks later, when it happened again. And again. AND AGAIN.
Until last night, when my son carefully wrote down the order and called it in. I felt proud that my 10 year old had done such a great job.
When the guy arrived (late), I paid... and then the kids opened their food. One pizza was wrong and no salad with the fish & chips. But the driver is just the driver so he can't do anything so I called Robertos and said (in my best Danish) 'I har sendt den forkerte mad... igen. Og nu, er det nok!' He insisted that my son had given him the wrong number for the pizza. He hadn't - I'd heard him give the order and he'd even named the pizza 'Niagra'. But the guy insisted I was wrong and when I insisted in turn that no, I wasn't... he hung up on me!!
Like a red rag to a bull.
My husband arrived home and because his Danish is better and he wasn't spitting furious, he called and told them I was going to drive down there and get a new pizza.
'Hun skal medbringe den anden' was the response. (she needs to bring back the other one).
What?? Do they get a lot of people eating the wrong one and then asking for a freebie?!
My husband asked them to make the correct pizza and they said they would.
So I drove down there and this is where it gets REALLY GOOD.
So I'm mad now, really mad. And I tell them (still all in Danish) that it's not good enough - for 18 months they've sent the wrong food and we've just kept on letting it go and ordering again and now, they've told me I'm wrong and hung up on me. What the hell are they playing at?
So their response?
'We were busy' (WHAT?? So that makes it OK to hang up on me??)
- your son got it wrong. He said the wrong number (no, he didn't)
- you shouldn't let a 10 year old place an order
(yes, I can - he's supervised. And - none of your business, but I didn't say that last bit)
- give me the other pizza and then I'll make the new one
(no... you make the new one and I'll give you this one when I've got the new one in my hand. I've already paid you).
And then I stood there fuming, while he complained again that they were right and I was wrong and FINALLY got around to making the f****** new pizza which he should have made 15 minutes ago. And no, jeg gider ikke sætte mig ned... I'm not going to sit down in a corner while you do god (or Allah) knows what to my pizza while I'm not watching... again, I didn't actually say that last bit.
So I mutter (in English - which is the first time I've said a word in English this whole time). 'You've clearly never heard of the customer being right'. And yes, of course I could have said it in Danish but I was furious and it felt better in English.
His response?
'Du skal lære at tale dansk' SERIOUSLY?? This from someone who is clearly not Danish, and with whom I've been speaking Danish the whole time.
Suffice to say this did not end well. I got my pizza eventually. The owner said (in no uncertain terms - and probably using a few words both in Danish and Arabic that I fortunately didn't understand) that he didn't want 'en kone som dig som kunde' and we mutually agreed that I would NEVER ORDER FROM HIM AGAIN. Capitals are for emphasis; I didn't shout - I may have raised my voice.
I am totally amazed this place still has any customers at all with such an incredibly sh***y attitude. I did explain to them as they told me I should be 'stille og rolig', that I'd have been a LOT calmer if they'd
a) admitted they could have made a mistake,
b) apologised for the fact that I'd had to drive out after a busy day (yes, I'd had a busy day... they told me emphatically several times that they were busy, as though that was a really good reason for having 0 customer service) and
c) hadn't kept telling me I was wrong. Hard to calm down with that being repeated on a loop.
So my parting gesture was to rip their menu in half and leave it on top of the pizza I was returning. I was very tempted to tip the whole thing on the floor but given that I was the only person (woman) in there with 4 angry men on their 'very busy' Friday night, it didn't seem wise.
I will not darken their doors with my business again.
I highly recommend that you don't either.
