The local Brand outlet store closed

The local outlet store In my area has closed. I returned to buying my running shoes online. Prices were competitive with the outlet buy 2 pair and the second was 50% off deal. The selection was better than the local outlet store.

DO NOT JOIN VIP PROGRAM

DO NOT JOIN VIP PROGRAM - IT IS A SCAM! My in-store experience at the San Diego store was very pleasant and everyone was very helpful. When I was paying for my shoes I was told that I wouldn't be able to return them unless I joined the VIP program for an additional fee. So I joined as I was also told I could cancel at anytime for a full refund. Initially I was told that I actually have to speak with a customer representative since my request involves my credit card. Now that I am trying to cancel my membership I can't get anyone on the phone - I sit on hold for over an hour at a time and when I leave my phone number for a call back, there is no returned call. I would go back into the store to try on shoes, but I will NEVER purchase anything from RoadRunner Sports again. Clearly this family owned business doesn't care about their customers.

Claim unworsen shoes returned had been worn

I recently purchased a pair of sneakers from RRS online. I literally tried one shoe on while sitting down and it was too stiff for my liking. I returned within 30 days and they issued credit. When I called and asked why a refund was not issued, they claimed that had unusual wear, TOTAL 100% LIE!!! They were sent back in brand new, unworn condition The rep said they would take pics and send to Customer Service Rep. I requested to also see the pics, She said she was unsure if she could send them to me. Don't trust this company. They are dishonest!!! If you do deal with them, take a picture of shoes before u send anything back to them. I will no longer deal with this company. Not sure what happen this company used to be ok but must be hurting for money to do something so dishonest. By the way I'm a VIP member so even if they were worn (which they were NOT) I should have 90 days, So basically they are claiming a pair of 100% unworn, only tried on shoe is so worn they cannot resell. Pure scammers. Will be disputing with my credit card company. Don't deal with these lying clowns!!!

I would rate a zero

I would rate a zero, but that doesn’t seem to be an option. Customer service is terrible. You have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to be an VIP member to be able to simply exchange an item for a different size. When you call the toll free number to exchange if you’re not a VIP member, it’s simply a sales pitch to become a VIP member. Sports apparel fit varies widely across brands and cut. To have to pay $10 in shipping both ways - to receive and return - is outrageous. The CSR even argued that with me. It’s only $9.99 to receive and $9.89 to return. Okay - got me there - $19.88, not $20.

Road runner sports ships quickly and…

Road runner sports ships quickly and the products arrive as advertised in New condition. It is great that they offer a wide selection of shoes and notify me of new releases. The ability to purchase a shoe from them early on before being released elsewhere. No problems with the customer service and excellent so far as a non-VIP member.

People and Service

Service and product! The mail problem is the US post office and not Roadrunner Sports! Been dealing with for over 20 years and give them a 5 Star Rating!

Awful Customer Service

For the second time in a year, they cancelled my order due to out of stock, without alerting me. I only found out after I logged into my account after 9 days of waiting. Terrible communication!

Great Store

I generally receive great service at their stores, but it’s useful if possible to pick out salesperson who seems to have best knowledge. I love their 90-day “return in any condition” policy for VIP. It’s saved me on several occasions when I ended up not liking my original purchase (even made multiple returns, no questions asked). It does seem that once everything is said and done that my cost is reasonable and I really appreciate the security of being able to return shoes after wearing them awhile.

As far as salespeople go, I had good experiences at both the Campbell and Sunnyvale stores. My only complaint is there was some presentation of products I wasn’t that interested in at the SV store (e.g. socks, insoles).

Done with RRS

I have been purchasing from RRS from the very beginning. Not any more! The customer service is bad and slow. They just took money from my account without permission for the VIP program which is nothing like it used to be. I have attempted to reach out to them with no response. I am done with them! RRS is not the same - too sad!

I signed up for a lifetime VIP…

I signed up for a lifetime VIP membership years ago and they downgraded it when they were acquired. Now the membership that I paid for when they were a small struggling company, is only worth 5%. To get full benefits they want me to pay another $44 per year to get full benefits.
So Shady!

You have to be VIP to return bad shoes

I bought a shoe (paid $150) two days ago and use it for only one day, the shoe sole tore, I went back to the store they told me they can't take it back or replace because I am not VIP member. This is really not a good policy, and I am not recommending anyone to buy from them.

Lowkey Scammers

I bought an insole from them, and a year later they charged me $49.99 for a VIP account I never signed up for.

They mailed me previously worn shoes in a beat to hell box. I call. I was told return them. Have a nice day. So I’m inconvenienced to return these shoes to a UPS store. I’m out the shipping. I say that’s it? Oh I can knock off the return shipping fee. Um what? This is their third strike of very bad customer service and shipping. Never again.

Be prepared to get a surprise $50+ charge on your credit card or Paypal account a year later.

You buy the VIP membership for around $5 so you can get a discount on the shoes you buy. Then, a year later, they auto renew your VIP membership at $50. They took the $50 directly out of my Paypal account. They did send me an email reminder that this was going to occur, but it was mixed in with the hundreds of emails they flooded me with throughout the year. This is absolutely a scam that takes advantage of their customers. I truly hope this review causes others to buy elsewhere. And I pray their business goes bankrupt for taking advantage of so many people.

It is one big scam!!! DO NOT BUY HERE!

I have been charged again and again for some VIP service I never signed up for at a visit from Holland. I would NEVER need that service. I contacted them again today, after they charged me 50 USD again on my card. It is one big scam!!! DO NOT BUY HERE!

Really horrible rewards program, customer service...

The rewards program is terrible. It is a train you can get on but never get off. It is very difficult to use your "rewards" and very difficult to get out of the program - the billing continues, for years.

The program requires you to renew automatically and gives you discounts it says you can use, but even when you place an order, tick the box to apply your rewards, and the rewards show as applied in the shopping cart, the actual charge to your card doesn't reflect the application of the reward balance.

Even if you have paid for the program (your first year is "free"), if you turn off auto-renewal, your rewards are unusable from the date you turn off the renewal. This is surely illegal.

The customer service is poor - they obfuscate the issue when you call in. They evade questions like how many years you have been charged the fee. It is difficult to reach a customer service rep as the hold times are long.

The actual availability of inventory (selection, styles, current shoes) is poor, so it is difficult to use your points for the shoes you want for this reason, in addition to the more technical ones.
