To anyone interested in the whole story,I can provide screenshots .I paid for rentaplace which is thier process .then they get back to me 14 hours after payment via their messaging platform on the website. Everything they did indicated that they werent willing to do business with me .I strongly believe they have a stereotypical bias .So if you are diverse ,you really want to patronize a company that is inclusive of everyone They then asked if I saw the details of my booking and the people i will be living with which i did and i said to proceed .They rejected me on the basis that i wasnt a good fit with the remaining roomates .Please note that at this point there was no credit or reference check so it wasnt that .it was at the preliminary stages .After telling me to select another place which i did , they then said it would take another 24 to 72 hours on which i indicated i had been in airbnb which is expensive and wanted to ensure that the count is from the day i sought their service not from the point of swaping my request to another unit that was smaller .i also asked if they will comply with what they mentioned on their site to pay for airbnb if they cant fufil the 72 hours processing times .Upon asking that isabella cancelled my payments after holding it for 2 days .I rejected other offers cos my money was already preauthorized by them and was waiting on them .Please note that she sent the rejection information shortly after telling me management wants me to fill my bio and upload my documents .Upon submitting ,she rejected and cancelled after taking all my data ,my time and making me go through all that stress .This company is going to collect your data on the basis of housing and God knows do what with it .I think they should be audited and given a diversity training as well .If you want proof ,i am happy to send you screenshots. I never comment on websites but this company is just one of a kind (in my sarcastic voice)

So glad I came across these guys given that the agents, thereby the service is incredible - and I hope it forever stays this way! It's my first time moving out, and everything was signed and finalized in 3 days just due to the mad efficiency. My search was so quick just because the apartments they have are of such quality. Their virtual tour is super useful as well.
Good place to lay down for a bit. I stayed for 2 months for a work term pre-covid and was fairly satisfied

Great experience with rent a place. We had slight problems with the house but the landlord replied quickly and fixed everything to satisfaction.
I really like this place. My landlord is really nice it's a great location, nice room, and nice people. But there are a few things that I don't like.
1. The key for the front door doesn't work and I cannot even lock the door from inside as well. I would like it to be fixed as soon as possible.
2. There is no fire escape from my room. I think it should be a latter with rope for safety.
3. The window screen in my room is broken.

Rent a Place allowed me to easily link with a landlord in Ottawa without having to go to the place myself. As an out-of-town student, this was extremely helpful. The staff was very kind and polite, answering all my questions promptly. I would suggest this website to anyone new to Ottawa looking for rentals.

I appreciated that a cleaner was sent in immediately but I think that the cleaning should be done before the move-in, not after...

Understandably, it was a little hard to get cleaners in during the COVID shutdown so the landlord and his wife ended up coming and vacuuming the entire apartment themselves. They were really respectful and even offered to bring additional furniture (TV, new table, etc.) even though it was not part of the original agreement. So that was really nice!

The agent reviewed the booking with me over the phone and answered all my questions and even pointed out some possible issues which I hadn't foreseen (ie, I'm allergic to cats) and hadn't see the disclaimer in the ad. I ended up getting another room but it's so nice that he actually cared to point this out. Great service!

Rent a Place made the whole process of finding a place a lot easier. The staff was helpful and always answered my questions in a short time frame, whether it be by phone or email. The virtual tour of the house made available by Rent a Place also helped me make my decision faster, since I could not come see it in person. Overall, a good experience.

It's a great platform, the booking was really smooth and the pictures great. The only thing I missed was being able to see some information about the roommates moving to the same unit -- hopefully that will be part of Rent A Place's future updated versions.

Awesome service for international students that can’t see a place in person before booking! As an a person that has been as international student in two different countries, this would’ve been so helpful! I feel like the website usability still has a little bit of growing to do (perhaps having a clear button to request a spot at the next open house in case they already are in town, also better email updates, notice that you have to accept the landlords request on your end as well) but any good company should be striving to always improve. Great people, great service. Hope to see it expand.
