Very fair pricing and dealings
Have used RDG a few times - always good prices and service. Once when they found the delivery time was longer than expected they let me know and then refunded the entire order so I could buy elsewhere where there was stock. Very fair and honest.
Extremely happy
Got an Eclipse 5" Vice from them, they were the cheapest and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I am very happy. The service was good, good comms, arrived quickly and the product was A*. amazing value for money.

I contacted RDG tools for advice on a myford 7 laith. They kindly not only provided me with information on the laith but also some other items I had. They went over and above what they needed to do, helped me value the item for purpose of resale and even offered a very far price to take the items off my hands. I cannot praise their levels of customer service highly enough

Great Service
Ordered on-line for collection, ready on arrival. Friendly service. I have purchased items previously for delivery which was prompt and well packed. Excellent range of goods, very satisfied customer.
Wide selection and good quality
I have had good experiences with this company, having made 2 orders in the past month or so. I ordered various tooling for my lathe and mill - everything was decent quality and arrived quickly and well packaged. No complaints and I will certainly shop here again.
5-25mm key type chuck 349058 with R8 arbour
Just got round to installing the Mytholmroyd RGD chuck and was looking for wobble on a standard 6mm drill in a mill. I made a quick video to show you the drill spinning. There was no visible deviation in the drill and although I hadn't turned the chuck slowly on a dial indicator, this first indication is very good. It took minutes to settle this arbour and chuck with one tap of the plastic hammer. Initial stiffness went immediately with thin mineral oil. Unfortunately no provision for adding the video here, apparently.
Fake product shipped
Bought some 'Brimarc' braces from the 'Brimarc' store on Amazon that this store sells through.
They shipped cheap knock-off products that aren't Brimarc branded and are inferior.
Bought 6 Dickson Type T1 holders for my…
Bought 6 Dickson Type T1 holders for my Smart and brown Model A. The lathe had an original Rdg tool post fitted and 4 holders so it seemed like a good idea to buy more holders. BEWARE! The new holders had not been machined to specification in that the cam hold slots are wider and deeper than original, Also the hold down bolts and height bobbin are now 8mm thread not 5/16UNC. So I now have two different sets of holders! Also these holders will take a 16mm tool but will not adjust low enough to align tool with centres. Had to make new bobbins, moving collar up by 5mm. When Challenged on above RDG replied that they have 3 different suppliers of these units and they cannot control specifications or tolerances! Very poor customer care or service.
Great service
RDG always send my orders out quickly, and I was especially impressed today when I got a phone call about my postcode - Paypal had given them my new address but old postcode. It was great that they noticed this at all, but even better that they phoned me to check and get the correct postcode. The cheap stuff they sell is fairly generic chinese stuff - most of the time it does the job. They also have the option of better quality stuff if I want to pay more - best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned.
Super fast delivery

This month I have bought a four-claw for my Myford which is adapted to this thread, the quality of this four-claw is super good and it complies with my toll breeds perfectly - I want to point out that there is very bad writing on this page about RDG but it is not correct I can recommend contacting Chris Melvin directly and he will solve all your problems
Poor quality, not interested in customer satisfaction.
Bought a drill and tap set that was extremely poor quality, two of the taps just broke on the first turn and one of the drills wasn't even ground correctly. When I complained their only suggestion was to buy better quality. They should shouldn't even be selling them if that what they thought of them. My suggestion is to buy better quality from somebody else.
RDG tools came highly recommended as a…
RDG tools came highly recommended as a helpful supplier to the hobby engineer. Sadly I have not found that to be true. They supplied 2 tools that
don’t fit my lathe and offered no advice for suitable replacements. Just a standard ‘return items at your expense for a refund’ I needed and expected better initial advice and far better customer service when things go wrong. Disappointed.
Poor quality control and mediocre customer care
Have used RDG for a number of years with mixed results but my last transaction will be the last, I purchased a 100mm 3 jaw chuck for my Myford lathe I went for a DIN standard chuck with a direct fitting to the Myford. Chuck arrived promptly but when fitted to the lath it had 0.5mm runout, due to the backplate being poorly machined, I refaced the adaptor and recut the spigot and now the chuck runs within tolerance.
So I sent RDG an email got a response from them saying my complaint will be passed on to the relevant manager still had no response from the "Manager".
To sum up poor quality control and mediocre customer care

Personally never had a problem with this firm. Always delivered on time & the correct item. As with most suppliers of this type of item, some prices are just a bit higher than buying from a Chinese UK warehouse so worth the extra & some prices make you think they're having you on. This is par for the course & I will always check RDG first if I'm looking for anything

They are as good as the weakest link in the chain, and should consider using other courier methods. Luckily there are a number of other choices to buy tools and it wont be them
Excellent
Excellent - I've put in a few orders over the last few weeks; always despatched the day of ordering, always arrive within a couple of days. Customer service is great, they spend time finding answers for queries. Highly recommended all round!
