Beyond disappointing

Beyond disappointing. I'm a member over 50 years, and today I again wonder why. Clearly, bigger isn't better. They charge me to count change, even if I want to deposit $$. Plus they refuse to witness/notarize a document, over "liability concerns."

I am so disappointed with RBFCU

I am so disappointed with RBFCU. I was a TEXAS resident who moved from TX to another state that does not have RBFCU but decided to keep the account out of loyalty. Having said that, RBFCU has incorporated a "Courtesy Pay Fee" that charges $24 per transaction. In previous years, this has not been the issue. They have been able to take the money from my savings and cover transactions in the checking. Now, it seems as if they are charging $24 to do it for each individual transaction. They've racked up $168 in these fees, some are multiple $24 in the same day. Everyday there are new fees even if I am not using the card. When called on it, they said "we can only wave 2 of the fees". On top of that complaint, someone keeps hacking into my credit card account and charging that card. It's all boiling down to I can no longer trust this bank with their fees for doing business and they can't protect me from fraudulence with my account. It sucks that both of my complaints feel the same "fraudulent"! I asked them to shut down all of my accounts and was still given a reason why they couldn't. I can't wait to zero out and shut it down. Of course, there's no customer retention amongst CSR, it's not their business. I do not recommend this Credit Union. There has got to be a better way of doing business. So much for loyalty!

Awful Credit Union

Awful, the worst credit union I have ever been associated with. Don't put your money here. My account numbers have been stolen many times and they have frozen my accounts for no good reason.

Why is RBFCU moving towards requiring…

Why is RBFCU moving towards requiring palm scanning at the branches to conduct transactions? In biblical terms, "mark of the beast scanning right hand" refers to the idea that using a hand scanner to identify oneself could be interpreted as receiving the "mark of the beast" from the Book of Revelation, as the Bible mentions the mark being placed on the right hand or forehead, signifying a symbolic allegiance to evil forces; this is often a concern among some religious individuals who believe such technology could be a precursor to a future totalitarian system where people are forced to comply with a specific regime by using biometric identification. Please do not make this a requirement. People do not conform to this.

RBFCU
has made sending wire transactions a pain in my YOU KNOW WHAT!!!

RBFCU has repeatedly canceled or blocked my wire transactions, causing unnecessary stress and inconvenience. What's more frustrating is that these actions have been taken without any notification or explanation, leaving me unaware of any issues with my transactions.
RBFCU's Fraud department has not been transparent with its actions.
Their lack of transparency is grounds for leaving this review. Hopefully, I can prevent others from opening an account with this questionable financial institution.
After I have accepted their disclosure statement, RBFCU shouldn't prevent a long-standing customer from completing online transactions. Especially with their own money!!
I am considering ending my continued business with the financial institution...

It is a bank that is a bandit and a rat that takes money without authorization and does not help you. They took money from me without authorization twice. It is a bank that I do not recommend. It does not have good service, neither the managers nor the employees. It has a garbage service. They are a bunch of bandits who take unauthorized money.

I am a pissed off 15 + year customer

I have used RBFCU bill pay with no problems for at least 15 years. In August 2024 they changed something and started sending paper checks instead of electronic payments. My student loan payment was mailed back and now had acquired interest and late fees. After 45 min on the phone with various supervisors it was explained to me the "my bills" are "my problem"! I asked why am I the customer being inconvenienced because RBFCU made a bad decision....and THAT was their response. I will be CLOSING my account tomorrow and going with USAA!

I've been with RBFCU since 1978 when they were a small USAF focused credit union. Its now 2024 and they have grown tremendously and with that growth they have lost all connection with their members. You can't call them, they won't answer. They force you to try a web chat that all you get is a robot! There is no personal connection at all with this credit union any more. As soon as I can find a smaller credit union that still focuses on their members, I'm closing and moving everything to that institution. Its really as shame because they used to be a really great place too put your money. Not any more

Absolutely the worst financial institution ever!

Absolutely the worst financial institution. I won't give them a single penny and I hope they go under. You can't even make an international transaction on your World credit card which has no foreign transaction fees with one of their affiliate reward partners to get cash back rewards. Their response...they are blocking the transaction because it's international even after I called in to confirm im making the transaction. They are another level of incompetent and completely worthless. I don't think a financial institution can get any worse than this.

Constant problems, no light at the end of the tunnel

I have probably had a lot more patience for this institution's issues than I should have.

I don't know how many times this has happened, but definitely too many. RBFCU locks my debit card, even if just used at a place I go to all the time. They'll send a text asking you to confirm the activity, but even when you confirm it and get a response back saying you can continue using the card, it is LOCKED. Every time, it requires you to go through the absolute chore of getting on the phone with someone to solve the problem for you.

And good luck with that if it's outside bank business hours! This has happened to me on trips, nearly stranding me and my family, but even just at home. The last straw for me was when buying groceries at the same place we always do, I get the dreaded text, confirm the usage, and bam-- locked again. No food for us til bank hours tomorrow.

I'm ditching this CU just as soon as humanly possible, and telling everyone to avoid them.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible! I've been with them for 15-ish years and never had a problem, but they just locked out my debit card (the one I use for auto-payments) and I've been on the phone for 40 minutes trying to get it resolved. Their remote (online/phone center) service is atrocious. Just look at all of the boiler-plate responses they've made here. No customer-centric service; just automated generic bs.

RBFCU's IVR is infuriating to work…

RBFCU's IVR is infuriating to work with. I've been trying to get through for over 20 minutes. The first time I authenticated and then got stuck in a menu with no good options after the IVR kept being unable to understand my simple request "replace a card" (it was not lost or stolen). The second time I got in a callback queue, received a callback from a silent line, and got hung up on, and the third time I authenticated, said "representative" over and over to skip the poorly designed menu, and was on hold for a long ass time. This IVR is clearly designed to reduce call volumes. I refuse to do business with companies that use predatory means such as hostile design of IVR systems to reduce support costs, especially with an institution that doesn't even have good rates on deposits.

I have been with RBFCU for 20 years and was satisfied with my experience until the past two years. I don't know what happened, maybe new CEO but it has become probably the worst bank I have ever had. They do not send out notifications of changes in procedure as they should, and even when you search for a policy, it is not to be found anywhere. After setting up alerts on my accounts, they might but usually do not come through and when they do come through is way after a point that you might be able to correct the error. My son accidentally used my account instead of his own and I did not get the notice until 11pm, it had to be corrected by 7pm. Its unethical in my opinion. Also, I just received a debit card for an account that had been closed SEVERAL months ago. Not recently. The incompetence with this credit union is embarrassing.

joined RBFCU from another Credit Union

Joined a few months back and this will be my 4th credit union, I just left another credit union that I was unsatisfied with for many years.
So far its been a wonderful experience. I've contacted customer service and asked questions and received good and accurate information from the representatives there. One of my favorite things about RBFCU now is their website and mobile app. The best Ive seen so far. They have a strong technical group there. I have one final test, I will see how my experience using cards, etc. when I leave the US. If that pans out well, then I will stay with this credit union for many more years. So far so good!
