Shetland was my first multi-day event, my first 100-miler, and my first walking event, so it was a pretty big challenge!

I seriously considered pulling out because I wasn’t injury-free, but the generous approach to the cut-off times made me think, “Just give it a go.” And I am so glad did. I got the challenge I had originally signed up for.

Walking was mentally so much tougher for me than I expected. The progress felt soooo slow! I spent a great amount of time on my own. But despite that, I never once felt unsupported.

The crew were incredibly attentive, encouraging and caring, and the whole Rat Race team were so supportive throughout. That made such a difference, especially during the harder moments.

I’m definitely going to do another Rat Race multi-day ultra when I’m able to run again.

Honestly, I don’t think they could have done anything better. Thank you for an unforgettable challenge!

Rat Race really push the boat out on experiences and adventures. I have done a fair few now but having just done the Floating 5k this was something new and exciting that felt otherworldly. Brilliantly managed by James as always. Can't recommend this company or this event enough.

I have just completed the Source2city event in New York State. This was my first taste of multi sport, multi day challenges so was naturally apprehensive. However the organisation, staff, route, planning and delivery from the Rat Race team was first class and made the experience absolutely fantastic. These events are tough, but achievable by anyone.
Strongly recommended.

The reason that the Rat Race cycling trip across Iceland was such a success (for me anyway), was because:
- the ratrace staff are experienced, professional and incredibly diligent & hard working.
- the ancillary staff - medics, cook, rafting team, photographer and bike mechanic exceed the requirements of their roles by being excessively qualified & experienced as well as versatile and innovative.
As the participants then it all just comes down to “doing” the trip and enjoying it, with as much support as is helpful.
It was a great trip, & very well executed by Olly and his entire team.

I just completed the Rat Race Source to City multi day, multi sport event in New York State.
Overall the terrain was beautiful and challenging.
The crew was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable.
The days were long but definitely doable.
We were fed well and had no shortage of hydration availability.
I would very much recommend this adventure, get some training in before you set our.

A step too far, terrified, not been nervous for years. Some of the the thoughts I had getting off the plane in Iceland. Pushing my boundaries in a safe controlled way. The team were amazing always with a positive kind word A truly life changing experience. It’s been six weeks since I got back and I’m still reflecting on what amazing journey it was.

I took part in the Iceland Coast to Coast event 2026, my 5th Rat Race.

It was an incredible event, made special by the people who organise it. So much time, care and attention to detail goes into every trip which helps make every event an unforgettable experience.

What an incredible experience! Source to City New York was everything I hoped for and so much more. From the beautiful landscapes of Upstate New York all the way into the heart of Manhattan, every day brought a new challenge, plenty of laughs and unforgettable moments.

The combination of cycling, running and kayaking made this a true multi-sport adventure. Covering huge distances by bike, kayaking on the Hudson River and running the final stretch into Manhattan made for an experience that is hard to beat.
A huge thank you to the Rat Race team and staff for looking after us so well throughout the event. The organisation, support and encouragement along the way were fantastic.
What makes Rat Races so special are the people. The camaraderie between the racers is amazing. You start out alongside people you have never met before and, after sharing long miles, challenging weather, tired legs and a lot of laughter, you arrive in New York feeling like a team.

An adventure I will remember for a very long time — challenging, beautiful, slightly crazy and absolutely worth it. I would do another Rat Race adventure in a heartbeat!

After signing up to the inaugural Shetland Toe to tip, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I need not worry! The event was truly incredible, from being collected in Aberdeen, to returning to Aberdeen, the trip genuinely was mind blowing! The staff were the most incredible people you could meet, the event was breathtaking from the get go! You want a multi day adventure that will definitely change how you see yourself, do this! It gave me a renewed zest for life

Used rat race on a number of adventures. Always great communication, fantastic fun and a huge adventure!

Went to Japan with Rat Race to take on a Sea to Summit (Fuji) challenge. Before that huge day out we were immersed in real Japanese culture, close to Mt Asama, staying in a wonderful hotel, with good food and an Onsen experience. Our Fuji day started at 1am and it was ‘full on’! Hours of hiking, regular support pit stops until transition around mile 22, then on to the summit. It’s a tough climb, but the crew, medics and mountain guides were always on hand to encourage us. The long, rewarding day closed late, but sleep came easily.

Excellent trip as always to go Sea- Summit on Mount Fuji. Great crew, great hikes, great local food

Brilliant experience from start to finish. Felt in safe hands throughout thanks to the brilliant Rat Race crew who were organised, professional and lots of fun throughout. You can tell they live and breathe these types of adventures, as they knew exactly how to look after us.

From the wonderful accommodation to the excellent food to the stunning hikes, it felt like a full trip before we even got to the sea to summit journey itself! And that was a tough but brilliant day, starting with the night time cheers at sea level as we set off and ending with glorious views over Japan (and being able to see where we set off from!) as our reward for conquering the summit.

Can't praise the Rat Race team enough for everything they did to make this such a memorable, unique adventure.

I had an incredible week with rat race on sea to summit Japan. The rat race team and organisers were amazing and made sure we felt supported, safe and encouraged the whole way. A wonderful and enjoyable experience and would 100% take part in more events ran by them!

I've just completed the RatRace "Trans Africa Coast to Coast". An absolutely epic experience - which pushed me to the limits - and tested my resolve in every way. It was a bold route, superbly led - and supported by a crew which it is impossible to praise too highly. To share the trip with such a friendly bunch of fellow riders was an added bonus. If you want an adventure that will truly enhance and change your life, this is the one for you. My horizons have been broadened, my imagination inspired - and my confidence has been massively boosted. Thank you Rat Race ! - and I'm looking forward to the next one !. Roger Grimshaw.

What an absolutely unforgettable experience!

From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. Anni, Kirstein, and the entire team were simply outstanding. Abbi managed the whole event with such calm professionalism and impressive attention to detail, while Kirstein made sure every accommodation was perfectly organised. Together, they make an exceptional team.

Every member of the staff was professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about making the experience special. I felt completely safe throughout the trip and incredibly well looked after every single day.

The ride itself is something every cyclist should experience at least once in their lifetime. The breathtaking landscapes, incredible wildlife, and challenging mix of road and gravel riding create a truly unique adventure.

If you love cycling and are looking for an unforgettable adventure, don’t hesitate—book this trip. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Awesome event - brilliantly organised, HARD, fabulous, HARD (did I mention that) ... BUT we had both excellent cyclists and not so excellent cyclists, and Rat Race coped with all of us as if we were all just one big team. Experience of a lifetime - amazing cultures, huge variety of cycling, wonderful people ... Would recomend to anyone and everyone

This is the second time I’ve adventured with Rat Race and they have really upped the ante on the latest trip - Trans Africa.
It was just as it should be …
Incredibly challenging and life changing but so well organised with great staff and food. Nothing was too hot or heavy and the team spirit from the organisers really permeated the participants to the extent that I truly believed we could have conquered anything by the end.! It’s a week now and I want to be back there.
I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone considering it, get the training in, open you mind and you will have mementos and memories to cherish forever.

Trans Africa was my second event with Rat Race and it didn’t disappoint. Epic adventure across a beautiful continent, supported by a team dedicated to getting you through the long days and to the end. The route was tough, from sand to corrugations, tarmac, rocky descents and perfect gravel this adventure provided everything.

The accommodation was great, logistics were made to look easy, the local team and food were amazing, you will not go hungry.

Rat Race have curated an event that creates memories for a life time. What more could you ask for?

I’ve crossed two continents with Rat Race.

Honestly, I’d take both trips again. The events themselves are well planned, supported and are epic adventures.

Trans African is on another level. Do yourself a favour, book it.
