Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 136 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers report that their accounts are frequently blocked or banned without clear reasons, especially new accounts or those attempting to share external content. Users also express frustration with the moderation, stating that comments they dislike are hidden, while insults and hate speech from others often go unaddressed. The platform is perceived as biased, with some feeling that moderation practices are inconsistent, leading to the deletion of answers or blocking of accounts that express opposing views. Reviewers also highlight issues with the presence of fake profiles, scammers, and inappropriate content, including solicitation, which they claim are not adequately addressed despite reports. Additionally, many feel the site has declined in quality, becoming less useful for genuine discussions and more focused on certain viewpoints, leading to a decrease in active, genuine members.

Horrible user experience

Horrible user experience. I don't how they get ranked on Google, every time I click on an topic I searched for I get tons of off topic sponsored answers. I'm so annoyed by it that I came here to express my feelings)

Poorly Run Website

This is an absolutely disgraceful excuse for a website. Over the years, we contributed posts from time to time, only to be suddenly and arbitrarily blocked with zero warning. Their claim? That we “posted the same things” — a complete fabrication. Every answer we gave was relevant, appropriate, and certainly not, as they falsely allege, for “monetary gain.”

Any halfway competent website would give users a clear warning if they were allegedly crossing some invisible line. Not here. Instead, they hide behind vague accusations, offer no proof, and simply pull the plug on your account without a shred of professional courtesy. It’s lazy, petty, and an insult to the very users who helped contribute to their platform.

I find Quora is now protecting Trump

I find Quora is now protecting Trump. Any facts which are true about Trump is being rejected. I once found Quora to be good for discussion but now Trump has influenced what content goes on there. Comments and posts which are factual and not obscene about Trump are now being rejected while posts and comments which are obvious untrue and amount to racial vilification are allowed if you support Trump. I deleted my account as I no longer want to be part of a discussion group which is now extremely biased!

Scam

This website will not allow you to delete your account or deactivate even though the option is there. You will never get passed the password lock. The site has state run media just like the news in the form of bots swaying opinions with questions that are aggravating at best. They sell your data and identity to the government and whoever else wants to pay. You might be rounded up by Trump. Do not open an account. You will regret it for life.

Disgusting Experience

Third class application. Don't use it. They allow childlike answers and moderate innocent people without sending email or even notifying.
They banned my 2 accounts, one is 11 years old and the second is 9 years old, in just two days.
I advise you to never use Quora.

Quora: Once Decent Site Now Overrun by Scammers and Trolls

I have been a member of Quora for 12 years. When I first joined it was a decent website with integrity and rules it actually enforced. Now moderation is horrific and inconsistent. Rules are enforced arbitrarily, if at all.

The site is now completely overrun with catfish scammers and trolls who each have dozens of fake sock puppet accounts. When you report them and give evidence that it's a catfish scamming account, the moderators usually do nothing. Sometimes they might ban 4 or 5 of the fake accounts but not the other 6 or 7 that were also reported that also clearly belong to the same scammer! These have got to be the most inept moderators any website ever had! It's obvious that they simply DO NOT CARE that their site is now garbage.

But they recently put ME in Quora jail (blocked for 2 weeks) for notifying unsuspecting Quorans that they were in fact communicating with a catfish scammer, not a real person. The people I warned were grateful and sent me notes to say as much, but the moderators decided I should be punished for doing their job. Meanwhile, they let the catfish scammer continue preying on Quorans without interference, being completely indifferent to the fact that these are potential victims who are risking heartbreak and extreme financial loss.

They are awful

They are awful. The automatic moderation keeps removing innocent, inoffensive answers to questions. The right of appeal constantly fails. You build up a good reputation on site then get banned from doing any comments, questions or answers. This happens to many people I know. It is out of control

Moderation is automated (with AI or…

Moderation is automated (with AI or similar). All the time, it happens that inoffensive comments, questions and/or answers get deleted or hidden. What´s more, the automatic moderation will bar a user from writing anything on the site after just two of these wrongful accusations. The appeal system on the site does not work and seems to not give any human response whatsoever. The site is next to useless and undemocratic, judgmental, biased, unfair.

My Account Was Unfairly Banned – No Real Support at All

I’m deeply disappointed with Quora. My account was suddenly banned without any explanation or warning. I hadn’t violated any community guidelines or posted anything inappropriate — yet I was locked out completely.

I tried to appeal multiple times, but every response I received was clearly a copy-paste template filled with vague terms like “violating our policy” without specifying what policy I supposedly broke. No transparency, no human interaction, no real help.

After doing some research on Reddit and other forums, I realized I’m far from alone. It turns out many users are getting banned for no reason, and Quora offers zero accountability. Looking at their Trustpilot page, it’s clear this is a widespread issue — and it’s getting worse.

Quora used to be a great platform, but now it feels like they don’t care about their users at all. If you value your time and effort, think twice before investing in Quora — they can take everything away without reason, and you’ll get no support.

Banned For Nothing - Dodgy Moderators?

Despite being sent the same questions on the same topics repeatedly, I was actually enjoying the site. My postings always generated good interest and sparked interactions amongst those who commented on it. Everything was going well. Curiously, trolls began to suddenly show up one day, accusing me of making up my experiences. I ignored/deleted most negative comments but finally responded sarcastically to two or three of them.
Shortly after, I get an email from Quora informing me that I've been banned from the site for posting Spam, harassment/bullying and hate speech. They gave me a chance to appeal which I did because I'd never been guilty of doing anything they were banning me for. They came back a week later with the same decision. I wasn't going to beg to be reinstated so I left it alone.
Here's what I believe. I think those sudden troll comments actually came from within. Maybe they do this to liven things up over there or somebody really didn't believe my experiences (in that case, I was being penalized for living an interesting life). They didn't like my response - or lack of response. Therefore, someone decided to label me a spammer or harasser. Very dodgy or, at the least, incompetent decision making.

EDIT: When I made this review I hadn't yet read any of the others. Wow! People getting banned unfairly seems to be a way of life at Quora. Relieved to see my experience isn't so unusual. Still a real shame though.

it's run by total morons

it's run by total morons, it's set up so you keep getting the same questions thrown at you and these are often moronic or simply trolling, but if you keep answering them you'll get deleted due to your answers always being the same..... you can't link to the outside or you'll get in trouble for spamming..... it's becoming very similar to Facebook because you have to be careful what you talk about as well.... there's no real freedom of speech.
it is also plagued by romance scammers and other scammers too so you have to be very careful of your security settings and Quora are very slow to block them....... if at all !!!!!

Beware a Data Harvester

Do not be lured into signing up for this scammer I believe that it is a DATA HARVESTER. I had never even heard of it or done a search for it. Somehow whilst on another companies website I found that I was required to select a link that took me to this company. I innocently clicked on it and found that I was required to create an account or sign in with a Google account. Thinking that it was related to the original site that I was on, I signed in with my Google account. Within hours I started receiving lots of emails from them. When I tried to stop them by using the delete account option I was forced to create a password to proceed. I did this and I was then sent an email link to create a new password. I did this and then had to confirm that I was not a Robot. Having done all of this I then tried to access the site to delete the account. It would not accept the password that I had just created. I tried numerous times over many hours following their instructions and using many new passwords each time confirming that I was not a Robot but it still would not give me access to delete my account. This site is just one of many that appears to be only interested in acquiring your personal data by illegitimate ways. Beware!!!

Breeding ground for unfounded and unchangeable answers

When people can delete replies with absolutely no justification ideas can go unchallenged and uncriticized. No idea is above criticism if people are looking for correct answers or as close to the truth as possible they deserve to have every view present and more importantly those views need to be able to be pushed and tested so the weak unfounded ones can be shown for what they are not how the "answerer" wants them to be seen. Where opposition can be censored Truth cannot be found.

Quora is a rogue online platform... there must be consequences...

Congress must take action to enact laws in order to protect consumers against rogue online platforms that attract users with under false premises and the promise of fair and equitable treatment, uses users content to generate revenue, and then for whatever reason, ban users at will (maybe due to pressure from certain organizations, like the NAR). Tort and contract laws may apply for such cases, and specific legislation is more than overdue.

The idea that those services are free is a non-starter, given that Quora uses users content and user profile information to generate revenue; in other ways, users are the product.

When you sign a contract for a service, there are prerequisites and parameters within the law. For instance, if one signs a lease for an apartment, the landlord can not simply decide to kick you out of the apartment whenever he or she wants and for whatever reason he or she comes up with: the reasons and violation must be abundantly clear and there must legal recourse and legal paths to redress the situation.

Quora is a rogue company controlled by nasty ideologues and special interest groups.

Such companies must not have free reign, there must be commonsensical laws, rules and regulation that would offer a modicum of protection to users; and there must be an easy path for users to file complains or take legal action against such rogue online platforms.

This site is run by idiots.

This site is run by idiots.

After years of using the forum (both reading and contributing) my account was banned for 'breaking advertising policy'. No warning, explanation or evidence given, and nor have they ever sent me a copy of their policy. Nor, either, have I ever advertised on there.

Their loss.
