Old-world elegance, a great location and spotlessly clean
My wife and I spent thirteen nights at the Hotel Quirinale during the first two weeks of April 2025. I made my reservation nine months in advance, and there were no issues. You can cancel up to 24 hours before arrival. This hotel celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2024. Yes, it is an old hotel, but do not let that deter you. It doesn’t feel like an old hotel. The ambience is one of old-world elegance. There are two things you notice first-off. This is the cleanest hotel in which I have ever stayed. My room was spotless. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. Second, everyone must be given a happy pill in the morning. I have never met a more friendly group of efficient hotel staff. The breakfast buffet offered a large and varied selection of breakfast items.
When I booked, I upgraded to an Executive Room. It was well worth the extra few Euros. It was on the third floor, and it overlooked the inner courtyard and back of the Opera House.. There is a window in the bedroom and another in the bathroom. Both can be opened to let in some fresh air. The Empire style decoration of the large and airy room was very apropos. A crystal chandelier hung from the centre of the high ceiling. There was a small fridge, and the coffee table, desk, dresser, nightstands and headboard all matched. All wood surfaces were glass covered. I found the bed extremely comfortable.
A door off the bedroom led to a tiny room with a matching wardrobe with ample space in which to hang your clothes. It also had a safe. A second door led to a large, well appointed, modern, marble bathroom. It was the largest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. Our room came with complimentary bathrobes and slippers.
You couldn’t ask for a better location. The hotel is less than a fifteen-minute walk from Termini Station, 100 metres from the Repubblica Metro stop, and a bus stop across the street serves more than a half dozen different bus routes. It is within walking distance of many of Rome’s main attractions. The location was perfect. If I am ever in Rome again, Hotel Quirinale is where I will stay. It gets my highest recommendation. Five big stars from Canada.
