Unexpected pricing takes away from an otherwise good meal

I visited Queen’s Spice this evening and the experience started well, the welcome was warm and the service was attentive.

I ordered a lamb Kohari (£12.95) and a tarka dal on recommendation. The food itself was good and felt like fair value based on the main dish.

The issue came with the pricing of sides.

I added pilau rice and two poppadoms, expecting them to be in line with the main.

When the bill arrived, the two poppadoms were overpriced,
the rice was fine and the tarka dal was extortionate for a side.

Looking back at the menu, the ‘extra items’ I didn’t have clearly visible price,
so I felt duped into ordering additional items on the anchoring price of the main.

The pricing transparency needs attention, which explains my low rating.
