Good value, despite the frequently cold showers
The Hitchin gym works well for me as it’s near home and it’s good value.
I’d give it 4 or 5 stars if they would only sort the showers out. The water is often cold. I’ve given up reporting it now as you seem to have no interest in fixing the problem.

In response to the reply from the gym, for which I thank you, I can say that I have found the water in the showers to be completely cold, as in containing no heat at all. I’m sure that’s not the result of a change in the temperature. It’s a fault. Could you please fix it as it’s been doing it off and on for a very long time and I’ve reported it to staff at least twice before.

We have recently made slight changes to the shower temperatures, to 33 degrees, both to control our energy usage and to reduce our carbon footprint. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities, and we would like to thank you for passing on these concerns.

Don’t recommend hitchin
Not worth the money for smaller gyms like in hitchin. Some machines dont work properly. Always a queue to use everything most hours of the day. Many machines you would think are essential don’t exist.
If paying a highly monthly amount, don’t choose hitchin as your main gym

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to assure you that we are reviewing feedback and will ensure this is addressed in club.
Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can.

Its a good straight forward gym
Its a good straight forward gym, easy access. The only thing that would improve it for me is to have bicycle lock up facilities in or outside the gym

Great all round gym
Great range of equipment, friendly stuff and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for different abilities.
Option of free parking during the day and some larger stretching/free weights areas would be beneficial.

Lack of air-con
There’s a lack of air con in the weights area, I’ve noticed it for a while now it becomes too stuffy and I often leave with a headache.
