Property Mentor is an investment company to be avoided at all costs
I am a new member here and I have to confess I have made a terrible mistake by joining a property investment company called Property Mentor of Milton Keynes in the UK. For those of you who don't know about this company, in brief they advertise themselves as being able to help individuals like myself who are eager to get involved in property investment.
Their literature and advertising material, says you can get into property investment by buying BMV (Below Market Value) property from them, which they source for you from as little as £10,000.
Now call me gullible, but after attending their weekend away and agreeing to pay more than two thousand pounds for the entire course, I was persuaded to pay the required deposit as already stated. In return they would find a property, arrange a mortgage and valuation plus survey, the remainder to be used for the deposit.
I was told, I would be buying a property in the North East, shown photos and told as soon as they could get access agreed with the owner, the purchase could go ahead and I would soon be the proud owner of this property. Of course access could not be agreed and was not forthcoming from the owner, I doubt if this property was ever for sale. After several months, the sale was off, never mind, they told me, another property will be sourced for you.
Later they offered me a property not far from Chester, but in a remote area, it was a flat in a block being completed by a builder. After closer examination, because by now my trust in Property Mentor had evaporated, I discovered, the flat being offered to me was grossly overvalued, which is what I told them and also told them I was not interested in this property.
After nearly a year and many emails, unanswered phone calls, I asked Property Mentor to return my deposit to me, every time I speak to someone, it is always someone different because they are now avoiding me, their answer is, yes we will look into this and find a way to return your deposit, minus our expenses.
I have been asking for the return of my deposit, since my circumstances changed drastically and I am no longer in a position to obtain a mortgage, so obviously there is little point in persevering with this company.
The worst part about this sorry tale is I compounded my misery by borrowing the deposit from a bank and have to make regular monthly payments and interest, this is crippling me financially because I have already mentioned my financial situation has already taken a turn for the worst, situation beyond my control.
I am not bleating or feeling sorry for myself, only here to warn other people out there, If you are thinking of getting involved with Property Mentor, think again, It will probably only make you a lot poorer. I should know, I am already down by twelve thousand pounds and counting, that is if you include cost of course and no end in sight to my misery as I have 4 years left to repay this loan.
If their are any kind souls out their who can give me advice or help on how to recover my money from property Mentor, I would greatly appreciate your support.
Many thanks for reading this post.
