Straightforward enough.
The booking of the villa was straightforward thankfully.
We were staying elsewhere on Corfu, for just over a week, prior to our check in. A few days before our arrival at Waterside Villa Kontokali, I asked if it was possible to drop off 3 hold bags at the villa so we could go out for the day, plus food items from the first villa to be put in the fridge, instead of being thrown away. I was told 'no unfortunately we were not allowed to do this as they had guests checking out and would appreciate you arriving as late as possible'.
The morning we were switching Villas we were told we could drop our bags off thankfully. The housekeepers were completely understanding. We just dropped the x3 large bags off and they even put the bag of food in the fridge for us and took our number to ring us when the villa was ready (3pm).
The Villa was ok, in a good location for easy access into Town and for local restaurants; recommend Olympia Mare in the marina. Theres A/c throughout, which we only use in the bedrooms during the night. It was large, modern and open plan downstairs, with lots of bathrooms, though we do prefer walk in showers, as not only are they cheaper to run but with sea salt &/or suntan lotion, it’s better for water to run off you, than sit in it. There were fig and apricot trees in the garden, though unfortunately the figs weren’t ripe enough to eat, and dropped as soon as they reached to the size of a strawberry.
Pool was a good size and warm. BBQ area good with good lighting too. The two swans and flying fish are a delight to watch in the marina bay. Take binoculars.
PVC don’t have the management for the Villa, but this does needs addressing…
The bushes around the pool really need to be removed completely, as they are a haven for mosquitoes, especially being next to the still water of the marina bay. Brush past them after 5pm and you'll be bitten. The garden could use a strimmer, there’s been no gardening done for a few weeks.
We even bought garden gloves and small secateurs, to trim the bushes around the patio and side paths, as they were overgrown, with long brambles branches too, and we needed to keep the mozzies at bay not encourage them, whilst sitting or walking around the patio.
We brushed down the entire patio as there was more than 2 weeks of leaves at the front and side of the Villa. We washed down the rear patio as the figs drop all day, and squished ones were staining the tiles, also encouraging ants. New brush and long handled pan was also purchased as the ones at the villa were poor.
A number of patio lightbulbs were blown, and the Villa needs an inventory check on what’s in the kitchen vs max number of guests, there’s a shortage of tall tumblers and mugs.
Cleaning visit after 10 nights stay, we stayed 9. Scrubbed the BBQ and brickwork with scourers we purchased, along with BBQ forks as the ones left hadn't been washed in weeks.
