Half done, mess
No instructions on how to connect to system via app. When blackout only half the house runs off battery. Rubbish left in gutters causing overflow when it rained, cable ties and wires. We deliberately allowed some time before writing this review to gain real-world experience with our system.
Verdict to date: Power Smart Solutions delivered a strong overall outcome.
They installed an 8.8kW solar system in May 2024, followed by a 19.2kWh battery in September 2025.
While not absolutely everything went to plan, we’ve still opted for a 5-star rating. In today’s Australia, finding truly flawless service has become very rare.
What matters more is how issues are handled—and in our case, matters were ultimately resolved.
When it comes to solar and battery systems, we strongly recommend rigorously self-educating before engaging an installer. A basic technical understanding puts you in control and helps align expectations on both sides.
Initially, we requested a battery-ready inverter. In practice, the inverter needed to be replaced at the time of battery installation. Additionally, the originally planned battery location in the garage had to be changed on the day, which was a little frustrating—but it was eventually sorted out.
The overall system performs very well, and the Sungrow app is a significant improvement over the previous GoodWe app we had been using.
Based on our research, we also requested blackout protection. This feature is yet to be fully tested, as we haven’t experienced any outages longer than 30 minutes since installation—but it’s reassuring to have in place.
After analysing system performance and figures to date, our next step will be integrating with an automated wholesale electricity platform to further optimise returns.
Overall, a solid result, a well-performing system, and a company we’re comfortable recommending—particularly for informed customers who take the time to understand what they’re investing in.

Not the best experience
As hubby and I both work with contracts and a lot of tradespeople we will not be recommending this company to any of associates. We were told one price and agreed upon it. Then, we were told that we had additional prices. Put on because the sales team did not know what they were doing. Then, we agreed upon that the installers got to the house and then They said they couldn't do what we agreed upon they had to take panels off.
Which they discounted but this deal did not make up for all stress that my husband was put through with this company

Salesperson booked wrong day
Salesperson booked wrong day. And energy company had not given clearance anyway which cost me a day off work.
Information advised to me about process was different to the process on the day.
Not clearly advised advantages of solar do not commence until energy company changes meter box. I had 8 weeks to organise this for the same day that I had to take off work unpaid if someone told me this, now I have to take another unpaid day off work.
I was compensated financially for the first mistake and rightfully so but still should not have happened.
Messages to me seem to have my name spelt incorrectly.
