Hi David

Thanks for taking the time to post a review.

The main reason for your claim taking a long time is due to the delays in you providing the relevant documentation to be able to process the claim fully,

From your initial contact at the end of March we didn't then receive the full set of documentation from you until the 22nd May (the date of this review) despite calling and emailing you on a number of occasions over the intervening period to try to get hold of them.

After receiving the documentation through, the claim was finalised and payment raised within 48 hours. Had we received the documentation through sooner then we would have been able to progress your claim sooner.

The reason for needing the travel details is due to your incident taking place abroad and to ensure the claim is in line with your particular policy cover (30 days of travel cover and cover in certain overseas territories).

We hope you are now happy that the claim has been settled and that you continue to benefit from knowing your equipment is covered should you need us.

Thanks

Hi David

You've received an automatic invitation as part of the renewal process which was sent out on the 4th May.

As this was the same day you chose to cancel your policy you have received the email which included the Trustpilot invitation you have responded to.

Now that you are no longer a customer you won't receive these emails which are part of the standard customer renewal process.

We have also marked you down as not wanting to receive marketing communications.

Thanks

Brilliant service

Claim processed extremely efficiently, 0ne phone call describing the details, upload required documents and almost by return confirmation that the claim would be met. How could you better that.

NOT COMPREHENSIVE FOR THEFT

I was mugged when selling my camera lense and the individual used threats.

I had passed the item over to the individual to inspect whilst I believed the transaction was genuine. When it became apparent that the individual was going to rob me and I went to take the lense back threats were used.

Dean, the claims handler focused on that there was no forceful exit or entry. The only way for there to have been a forceful exit would have been to put myself at risk with a violent individual.

The decision by Dean was contrary to point b) of unattended theft as I was not in a position to stop the item from being taken.

It took photoguard 7 days to give me their decision.

After this I made the claim on my LLOYDS home insurance and they approved the claim in under an hour and they paid out less than 24 hours later.

I am now in the process of cancelling the photoguard policy as the gap in what is considered theft in their wording leaves alot of risk in terms of comprehensive cover.

Based on other reviews I believe photoguard may be excellent for covering accidental damage. However, they have been awful for theft as is in my case and why I have given this review.

The renewal was quick and easy

The renewal was quick and easy, reminders sent and pre documents to review. If no changes you didn't have to do anything. This is what it's all about, especially when life is so busy. At least you know you are covered.

Automatic Renewal - No Change

Renewal documents recived via email in plenty of time of the renewal date, schedule was easy to understand, and in my case, didn't need updating. As everything was as last year, I did nothing and my renewal was automatic. The premium increase was deemed reasonable.

Great job Photoguard

1st class experience with Photoguard. Damaged fav camera and fav lens beyond repaid. Been with them 5yrs+ never claims so not sure what to expect. They were supportive, helped me through process and settled the claim quickly with a sum I was happy with. Flexible on how you replace your kit, so a great relief stuck with their cover through the years. Will be renewing and would highly recommend. You may get cover slightly cheaper, but won't beat the cover or service.
