Absolutely shambles of a company
Absolutely shambles of a company. Put my parents home on the market with this company. They took photos and put the ‘For Sale’ sign up. We then realised new photos needed to be taken as we paid for the garden to be done and finished off what needed to be done inside. The new photos were emailed to them and Amy said she will replace the old photos immediately. After 7 days I asked again and was told the same thing. Then at the end of last week I spoke to another lady and she said she would get it done straight away. I’m still WAITING! I asked when I can cancel my contract with them and it’s at the end of the month. I can’t wait to go to a ‘professional’ company to sell the house. Avoid this company, there are plenty of good estate agents out there.
Absolute Joke.....
Absolutely shocking behaviour from someone enquiring about a "free valuation" of their house, they make you jump through a series of hoops on their website to get an online valuation which was my preference and then instantly ring you and try and force you to get a in face to face valuation,
spam emails about the appointment and text messages. Come day of the appointment they called to cancel as the valuer was off due to sickness which is understandable and book it for the next day.
Only to call the next day and say there isn't any point coming out to value your house as your only thinking about selling in the next couple of months, surely if i knew the value that would help me make an informed decision and as an estate agent you know SALES you would try and persuade someone to sell?
Joke of a company stay away, wont be using them
Hugely disappointed with Peter Alan Estate Agents
I made an appointment for 11am on 18th September to have my house valued by a property valuer in person at my address. I received a REMINDER by text message the day before the appointment. On the morning of the 18th I tidied my home in preparation for the valuation, showered, washed my hair and got dressed. Leah, the valuer from Peter Alan Estate Agents had evidently tried calling me at 9:30am on the 18th September to confirm that the appointment was still going ahead (despite having sent me a reminder the day before). As I was busy getting myself ready for her visit I missed the call. Leah had left an ansaphone message requesting that I get in touch with her to confirm the appointment but I did not pick up the ansaphone message until shortly before 11am. By the time I returned her call, Leah advised me that, as she had not heard from me, she concluded that the appointment was not going ahead. She then said that she had carried out a valuation of my property online. I told her that I was not happy with that and requested that she come to my house to value my property as arranged. She said she was unable to leave the office as she had an appointment with another client. I was very upset and annoyed to find that Leah was not coming and expressed that it should not be necessary to call me on the day of the appointment as well as send a reminder by text the day before the appointment, especially as it was me that made the appointment in the first place! I DID NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR LEAH TO CALL ME AT 9:30AM ON THE 18th ... the appointment was made for her to ATTEND on the 18th! Leah's excuse was that her call was a "courtesy call" and that had I answered her call she would have been able to attend. The text message reminder is surely courtesy enough! There is no need for anymore than that! I was extremely upset and annoyed that she wasn't coming. She offered instead to come at 5:30pm. I was exasperated because her so called "courtesy call" which I felt was "overkill" caused my day to be messed up. I really felt that Leah's apology was insincere but I accepted her offer of a 5:30pm appointment. Much later in the day I received another phone call from Leah asking if I had seen the email from her. I said that so far that day I had not checked my emails (I don't spend all my time attached to my phone checking emails!). She said that she had to cancel the 5:30 appointment. Rather than enter into any further dialogue with Leah, feeling that any expression of dissatisfaction would be lost on her, I simply said "ok" and hung up. When I checked my emails I discovered there were 2 from Leah ... one cancelling the 5:30pm appointment and another one cancelling the valuation altogether! In all my days I have never come across such an appalling way of treating a client (blaming the client for cancellation of an appointment because she didn't hear the phone! I mean ... who does that?). Really ... is this the right way to treat a potential client? Is this how Peter Alan's business is run? Do all Peter Alan's staff treat potential clients this way? So, I checked the reviews given by other customers of Peter Alan Estate Agents ... conclusion? FIND ANOTHER ESTATE AGENT!
Since posting this review which was duly forwarded to Peter Alan Estate Agent, I have NOT received any communication from either himself or anyone else in the company ... so much for COURTESY! An apology from the top would have gone a long way towards repairing my now very low opinion of the company.
Absolute worst letting agents
Absolute worst letting agents, do not touch them with a bargepole. My partner rented out his house with Peter Alan last year. From day 1 the family they put in there caused issues. Peter Alan wasn't sending us statements, never kept us upto date of the rent and why not paid etc. Now in situation where the boy has confirmed he won't leave until court order issued
He also confirmed that he was homeless and sleeping in a car before renting the house and when I asked how did you pass eligibility checks he said I have no idea. We are now in process of going to court to gain back possession. Peter Alan have done nothing. Diabolical firm, avoid at all cost.
Avoid them at all costs!!
Avoid them at all costs - they are completely incompetent, and patronising. They don't answer emails/phone calls and if you're lucky enough to get hold of them you might as well be talking to a child—no knowledge of Rent Smart Wales policy.
End of tenancy check wasn't completed for over a week, and they found fleas in the property. They didn't bother to tell me, and I had to chase this up multiple times. They have made me pay before the fumigation has taken place, and then will dispute it with the tenant to get it from their bond. Peter Alan didn't seem to care about loss of rent. No contact when the tenant was moving out.
Didn't pass on key information to the tenant when she moved in, and were unable to arrange maintenance visits. Lots of problems with changing my address on invoices and no communication in the office, let alone between departments.
Purposefully difficult when we used our own gas engineers and not theirs at a premium cost. Head Office is just as bad (if not worse) than the branches (Newport)
I have not been able to get the keys back to my property.
Stay away!!
Incredibly poor communication-…
Incredibly poor communication- continued delays in returning monies owed. Also arranged viewings without my knowledge. I would not recommend to anyone looking to either rent their property or rent a property.
If I could give lower I would
If I could give lower I would.
Recently rented a property from them, moved out earlier and allowed them to over viewings on property whilst living in property.
The house we had was furnished and the washing machine broke during our stay, the landlord couldn't be bothered to order a new one so informed us to purchase one and reduce it from the rent, when we moved out they deducted this money from our deposit which we are still waiting to have returned. They have clue about communicating between departments. I will definitely avoid in future. Thanks Peter alan
Conned us with a free EPC certificate not worth one star
We decided to put our house on the market had an appraisal with peter Alan barry branch with a promise of a free EPC if we put our house on the market with them for a minimum period of 20 weeks they said the house would be marketed for £280,000 within 2 weeks they said to put the price down to offers in excess of £270,000 the weeks went on with no viewings so they dropped the in excess of from the £270,000 after the 20 weeks contract was up we took it off the market with them now they are demanding a fee of £94.80 for the EPC certificate which they told us was free avoid this company they are not worth the one star it should be a zero star it feels like we have been well and truly conned by them 😡😡😡
Landlords beware
Landlords beware...i used Peter Alan for a number of years to manage my property and over the years the service got worse and worse. I only stayed with them as i was out of the country but i wish i had not...their communication was terrible, you felt that despite paying them for a service that they were doing you a favour. You rarely dealt with the same member of staff so thee service was very poor. They held onto repair money for 9 months without carrying out the repair. Very rude - do not use!
so disapointed and waisting our time
Unhappy with this agent Today we came all the way from Bristol and were waiting (10.30–11.50) in front of the property for a viewing of the property for which we had an appointment at 11.30. No one came, and no one picked up the phone. We are unhappy with this letting agent, most of the time no one picks up the phone when we need to make inquiries; several times no reply for the online inquiries as well
worst letting estate agent
As a landlord, I do not recommend anyone to let property with them. I have 2 flats managed by them, one of the tenants paying late every month. The only thing Peter Alan did in the last 4 months is sent me an email to let me know of rent arrears. Now, another tenant move out on 30 June and return the key but Peter Alan sent me a letter of a vacancy on 10 July and said the tenant will leave on 25 August. I did fund out because she did not pay July rent. the property in this case 124A,B Caerau rd, Meastag
Avoid Alice Coid Bridgend Branch
The 1 star review is only because I couldn't put any less!
Me and my partner have just experienced the most appalling service ever, which was initiated by Alice Coid the so called branch manager in Bridgend.
To put it into perspective we requested to rent a property signed the contract and paid £6050 to be told a couple of days later that the landlady had decided not to rent the property which could have made us homeless.
That's not the worse thing. They gave our money to the landlady twice. We have only just received the remaining monies as they paid us back in 3 separate payments which took 2 months of constant chasing. Disgusting service. The Lettings director Benjamin Jones had the nerve to offer us 250 goodwill when we had to cancel a precooked holiday. Missed out on other properties.could have been made homeless. They just don't care. AVOID AT ALl COSTS
Landlords beware!!!
I have rented properties in Bridgend and Cardiff for 15 years and decided to try Peter Alan to find me a tenant for a property in Bridgend. To be fair they found me a suitable tenant quickly and I was really pleased, however I still have not received the rent paid by the tenant nearly 3 weeks ago. They paid 6 months in advance which amounts to nearly £6k, and despite numerous e mails I cannot get a response from accounts to explain why there is a delay.
I have never experienced a delay in receiving rent paid previously with any company I have used, so it is concerning that Peter Alan do not seem able to transfer the money to me. For landlords I would steer clear of this company and I will never use them again.
I was a Tenant and it was a terrifying…
I was a Tenant and it was a terrifying experience. In 10 years of renting with other agencies, never had any problems, always received references. They don't solve problems. I received my deposit after about 2 months after many emails and open dispute. The rental contract has never been respected even in the essential points. I was for months in the cold, inadequate heating, 15 year old boiler failure and with rats in the garden. Not recommended for both Tenants and Landlords. I will stay very far from Peter Alan. I feel like a victim of a Fraud and scam. I wasted a lot of money to have nothing and suffer me and my family.
Very disappointed
Very disappointed, my partners family trying to sell their parents house. Lots of promises and nothing happened, never any feedback or viewings. The family gave the correct termination notice and moved to another agent, Peter Alan then sent my partners sister letters for payment of £94 for an EPC which they agreed was included in the sales package. It is a difficult time dealing with bereavement but to be hounded for money which wasn’t owed was added upset. They then phoned to say if the property was put back with them they would waive the £94 (which wasn’t owed) definitely don’t recommend
An absolute disgrace
An absolute disgrace, don't put your properties near them. Their service to look after my properties which were Let was a shambles in their head office. They couldn't organise or sort anything in a timely or cost efficient manner. I had to leave in the end and this has been an impossible task as they refuse to give up the data and documents required to carry on letting the properties. Don't let them go near you rental properties. If my request for data isn't taken seriously I will be forwarding this complaint to the ICO
Waste of time Penarth Office
Arranged a viewing of two properties which took a 50min drive to destination arrived early. It was absolute waste of time due to the agent not even turning up still awaiting reason why .( penarth office)
Accountants too busy to return funds
After a proposed 35.5% increase to my rent right before my yearly tenancy was to be renewed (which was not within market average and completely nonsensical), I’ve been waiting two months to receive my deposit back (in full because the place was spotless). Three whole weeks ago my “funds were released” but the accountants have apparently been too “busy” and “backlogged” to put through a simple bloody BACs. Unbelievable. The DPS agent I spoke to today laughed down the phone and said that’s not a reasonable excuse for them to give. This made me feel extremely stupid for even waiting this long for taking action. I’m going to comment on your social media pages until I receive my funds back and I’ll ring every blood day too. I’m sick to death of this company. It took them weeks to inspect the property after I’d left as well. I’ve never dealt with such an incompetent and non-caring company. I cannot put into words how horrendous my dealings with you have been.
Wouldn’t give a star if had a choice
Wouldn’t give a star if I had an option!
We have been dealing with Peter Alan via renting a property, firstly they pushed for a move in date despite the house requiring work from previous tennants however we moved in. Over 30+ issues not listed on the inventory, inventory listings ‘acceptable/ good’ when the pictures were documenting poor standards.
We are now 6 weeks into being in the property, still chasing any form of communication from Peter Alan, we know this is them as thankfully our landlady (who is paying them to manage this property) has been in touch with us as she is experiencing the same challenges from Peter Alan! Fair to say, do not pay Peter Alan to manage a property as you will have very unhappy tennants and poor customer service.
Landlord/lady’s you can do a better job yourself.
Thanks for your help moving in Charlie
Thanks for your help moving in Charlie. Our experience with Peter Alan had good communication from the agent, lots of calls with updates on the property etc. However, the move in date was delayed the day before due to "electrical checks". Upon moving into the property it was clean, however there were two dead birds in the loft, an unsafe landing light with loose wires and no cover and the cover for the bath was hanging off. The guttering hadn't been maintained and was home to lots of weeds and dirt.
I gave Peter Alan 2 stars for this due to the condition of the property and delayed move in date. However, Charlie was very prompt with responses and able to help where needed.
