When I first took out this policy 12 months or so ago I then saw a couple of poor reviews and thought the worst. First dealing with the company 6 months into the policy for the removal of a cancerous lump on my French Bulldog's hand and everything went as planned (albeit a few items that were capped and I did have to pay extra for such as £11 over the limit for 'waste disposal'!) The last two weeks of my policy before renewal and my boy became very unwell, he had an overnight stay and meds in his last week and when he went in for emergency surgery 24 hours before the end of his policy I received the heart breaking phone call there was nothing the vets could do :-( Speaking to my vets a couple of days later re. the £2000 ish bill they told me as it was the end of my policy his insurers wouldn't pay out, it was what it was and I was paying the money regardless. I have to say when I called PP I was overwhelmed with the care and compassion I felt from the lady on the phone, she was absolutely lovely and said to go ahead and put the claim in which I did. In the meantime I had a lovely handwritten card through the post saying sorry for my loss, today the money has landed in my bank. Honestly this has been seamless for me. I really appreciate the kindness I've had from the team. I wouldn't think twice to use PP again.

If I could give this company zero stars, I would.
I lost my dog to cancer in January. My claim was eventually paid in full, along with compensation, but only after I referred the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. The entire process took six months and added enormous upset to an already devastating time.
The staff I dealt with were polite and quick to offer scripted condolences for the loss of my pet. However, I received no meaningful apology for the incorrect decision to decline my claim, the distress that decision caused, or the fact that I had to escalate the matter before the company finally put things right. There has been no acknowledgment that they got it so badly wrong.
Max died aged 12.5 after being diagnosed with cancer. The company initially declined my claim on the basis of a supposed pre-existing condition of arthritis. More than three years earlier, I had taken him to the vet with a limp that disappeared after one week of Metacam. He required no further treatment and was never diagnosed with arthritis. Quite how that justified declining a cancer claim remains beyond me.
I appealed. Astonishingly, the company doubled down and claimed that Max also had a pre-existing condition relating to cancer. Their apparent evidence was an earlier vet appointment for a lump. The "treatment" was Piriton for a suspected insect bite.
In other words, they searched through years of veterinary records and used an isolated limp and a suspected insect bite to argue that my dog’s fatal cancer was pre-existing. Yet after the matter reached the Financial Ombudsman Service, the claim was settled in full and compensation was paid.
Losing a much-loved family pet is painful enough. Having to spend six months fighting an insurer over a wrongly declined claim made that experience significantly worse. Pet insurance is supposed to provide reassurance, but at the worst possible time, my experience with this company was the exact opposite.
Before trusting this company with your pet’s cover, read the one-star reviews carefully and consider how much confidence you would have in them if you ever needed to make a claim. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them under any circumstances.
The lady I spoke to was extremely competent and helpful. Went above and beyond with her help and advice.
