The Pearmain Portfolio has shrunk to just 3 Gastro Pubs
It’s a great shame that the Pearmain Pub Group have divested themselves of 5 of their Gastro Pubs in a sale
to Young’s.
As a big fan of the Pearmain Gastro Pub chain, and having been to all but one of them their portfolio, it was disappointing not to have any advance notification about this, or any communication at all.
If you were also unaware the sale saw Young’s take over The Canbury Arms in Kingston, The Crown in Twickenham, The Grantley Arms in Wonersh, The Onslow Arms in West Clandon and The Wheatsheaf in Esher.
This only leaves three pubs in the Pearmain stable The Red Lion in Horsell, The Old Plough in Stoke D’Abernon and The Three Horseshoes in Laleham.
I remember Pearmain taking over The Grantley Arms from very successful previous entrepreneurial owners who felt encouraged that being part of the Pearmain Group was the right strategic move!
It will be interesting to see how many of their original core values translate when under Young’s ownership.
We went to the Old Plough recently (post lockdown) which was enjoyable but will they still be part of Pearmain in the future?
