Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 3,757 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful and difficult to reach a real person. They also encountered issues with payments, including unexpected transactions and funds being held. Customers frequently report problems with refunds, such as not receiving them or PayPal siding with sellers in disputes. Additionally, the service was often criticized for being unreliable, with some expressing concerns about its security. Though some customers reported positive interactions with customer service agents, receiving immediate refunds or having their concerns addressed, these experiences appear to be isolated. A few other people also felt that the service was rapid and excellent, especially when resolving payment discrepancies.

Disgusting and criminal service

This is my second complaint regarding PayPal. I have never experienced anything as useless as their "Customer Service" department. I have now been locked out of my account for almost two weeks. I have sent almost 30 emails, and repeated my story multiple times. I simply get multiple people writing back with conflicting information. I cannot access my money and I no longer know what to do to resolve it.

Worst experience , worst suppprt

This has been one of the most unsatisfactory experiences to date. The primary concern is that regardless of the factual information provided regarding one's small business, accounts are subjected to permanent restrictions. This occurs even when the business possesses a legitimate LLC and a verifiable business presence.

PayPal is never on the side of consumers

This is the second time I have filed a dispute with PayPal and have had proof, disreputable proof of wrongdoing and PayPal sides with the seller. I am paying off the account and I will never use them again and I've had account for eleven years.

PayPal facilitates SCAMMERS

Have had good experiences on transactions where no problem existed. But I would strongly recommend AVOIDING PayPal unless no other payment method exists. My latest experience reveals gaping flaws in their customer service when I documented conflicting and erroneous information published by a Chinese Scam calling themselves either GUANG ZHOU or Qurtz Lock Devices Co., Ltd. or Eminentknown.com. NOTE: the use of 3 different names for a single Scam was not made known to me until I had to file complaints. This Scam listed a piece of fly fishing equipment for sale on a Fecesbook post. I ordered, and only after placing the order did the Scam inform me the item was allegedly shipping from Ieland. After 2 weeks and several bogus "updates," I complained because the updates suggested the package was not moving. Moreover, it was in Cheyenne, WY - where all international shipments from Ireland routinely go to pass customs, I suppose. Further complaining indicated the shipment originated in China. At no point was a specific carrier ever identified. Finally, 3 weeks after placing the order, the Tracking Scam, called 17Track.net, used by whoever the vendor really is, announced the item had been delivered on May 1, 2026 by USPS. Of course, that overlooked the fact that another update issued on May 3 said the item was enroute and yet to be delivered. The delivery confirmation offered no USPS tracking number, but alleged the shipment had been made utilizing at least 2 flights, one of which left China, the other of which arrived at JFK. (I don't know what happened to the scheme where it went through Cheyenne, WY). Of course, I never got anything delivered at any time by any of these entities. So when I complained to PayPal, and told them I had contacted the vendor, offered copies of the communications, explained that there were disturbing and fictitious tracking reports involved, and said I would provide all necessary documentation, what did PayPal do? They asked the vendor if the merchandise had been delivered and the vendor supplied the bogus tracking information from the Tracking Scam, and PayPal dismissed my complaint. For anyonme wanting to see my tracking report thru the 17Track Scam, you can try googling 17Trackdotnet & use Your tracking number is

Bought an expensive new coat from go outdoors, arrived as used and dirty, so significantly not as described, PayPal didn't care and said sort it out with your bank. So PayPal is completely irrelevant now, used to be good for buyer protection back in the day, but now just use your bank.

Avoid PayPal. Use a credit card.

Opened a dispute . Seller had charged me £40 and I never received the item. PayPal refunded me initially then found in favour of the seller despite evidence that the company involved had taken my money and didn't provide the item ordered. I even sent PayPal an email in which the seller admitted my order hadn't gone through the system and they could see from PayPal receipt that I'd been charged for it. They offered an immediate refund . Still PayPal closed my case in favour of the seller so they refused the promised refund. PayPal also blocked my account so I couldn't use it until I repaid the refund they'd given me at the start. A shocking decision on their part. I've used PayPal for years but I no longer trust them. Now I'm £40 out pocket. If I'd used a credit card I'd have been refunded through my bank.

Predatory Pay-Pal Scam

upon opening business account with pay-pal for my side gig decided to give it a test run to learn how process is going to work before I directed customers how to pay me. So asked a family member to pay for small invoice I created and sent link to their email. As soon as money was received this scam predatory company Pay-pal closes my account not only business but personal as well without sufficient explanation and aggressive statements that they are not telising my fund for 120 days and will charge me $30 for High volume dispute fee ... which us used to charge customers if they do too many transactions per month . This was my first and only transactions . . By closing both account they cut off any means of me contacting them because it's required to log in to speak with support. Do not make a mistake and think you have account with them because it is not yours it's theirs and they do whatever they want.
I immediately took steps to initiate charge back to this Terrible Predatory Unethical Platform called Pay-Pal ... Keep your distance away from these Scammers.

PayPal have an inadequate warning system when setting up a recurring payment

I made a complaint because I felt scammed by a company called Domestika, who had refused a refund, so I appealed to PayPal. I found their complaint system difficult to navigate and to express my case. After changing the basis of my complaint to “service or received” PayPal paid back most of my money. PayPal need to review their systems to defend customers against scammers, and their system for dealing with complaints

I made a claim regarding fraudulent activity. There is no real customer service, just bots that do not really investigate anything. The information I gave them was compelling and they continue to deny my claim. I will do my best to NEVER use PayPal again. The way they operate makes me wonder whether they are getting a cut from the scammers. They certainly show no concern for their users.

PayPal didn't honor their guarantee

I have used paypal for many years. I did so because of their purchase protection. Recently a seller, Total Relief LuxConfidence, who gave 2 wrong contact numbers did not reply to emails. I was told by pay pals resolution center that I would be refunded the money now 2 days before they were to refund the money they told me the case was closed. The product did not work and PayPal said the product i received was similar so they denied me. Total Relief even tried to trick me into close my paypal claim before it was settled. I guess pay pal no longer honors their guarantee.
Below may be reason for bad experiences with PayPal. I have notice too that a lot of bad experiences are from purchases from China that we don't get notified about until after we purchase items. Why do they have to hide the country items are coming from?
Local Subsidiaries: PayPal holds a majority stake in GoPay (Guofubao Information Technology Co.). Doing so made PayPal the first foreign payment platform licensed to provide online payment services in mainland China. If you search further there is something about money laundering too but I didn't completely understand what is happening with the investigation.

I was with PayPal for 18 years

I was with PayPal for 18 years. They used to be a great and safe way to buy online, but not anymore. Now they seem to help scammers by holding your money for months. Their customer service is very poor and unhelpful. I deleted my account and will never use PayPal again. I wish they would shut down for good.
